I really want to like this show.. I really do, but…
I'm with you 100%. I really liked Ep 7, but Ep8 was so obvious that it was disappointing. And other than the elders, no one is really likeable in this.
Still, it seems pretty quick for LF to regain her sight already in episode 9, given that we're 36 episodes in.…
I agree as well...we're only a quarter of the way in. Considering that the theme for this family is "false hope", which played out in the burning of the initial wad of money, might return if the surgery isn't all that it was hoped for.
I'll be honest....about halfway thru Ep 3 last night, I found myself asking "Why am I watching this show?" I can't figure out the relationships between characters presented in this ep, the ML is acting just plain stupid, I get nothing from the FL, and with exception of the Elders (who would be golden in just about anything together) none of these characters interest me. I'm getting a "Revolutionary Sisters" vibe here. I know we're only at Ep 3, but gosh.
Well I guess I will be around again for Iron Family bc I am living the Junghyun stan life so watching it is a…
BT, I should have known better, but sheer curiosity got the better of me. I am giving Iron Family a chance, only because the cast is great (but we've seen good actors choose bad scripts before) and I want to see if they can maintain a shorter series better than we've had with even the better 50-episode ones that inevitably fall apart in their last 3rd of the series. Fingers crossed!
PS -(and FWIW) I still think this was supposed to be a parody of typical family k-dramas, with the over-the-top script cliches and over-acting. It's the only way I can try to make sense of it.
I don't even know where to start....so maybe I shouldn't.
All I will remember about this series is the wasted potential. This could have easily been a GREAT series, all it needed was a writer who could concentrate on the story without being distracted every 5 minutes and taking us all over the place instead of distilling the script down to the best parts. Oh, well. At least we made it.
That being said, I hate myself for falling into the trap of looking forward to Iron Family with its great acting cast.....they couldn't possibly screw up a shorter 30ish episode series......could they????
Iron Family actually looks promising, and what a great cast. Things are crazy here, as I'm in the middle of selling my house and moving...Things should be over and done by Halloween. I am currently watching "Her Private Life" and am 3 eps in and absolutely love it, however!
Good grief, how many head injuries are there going to be in this series??? You just KNOW the writer is doing this so we wonder "is she going to give us the 2nd amnesia arc like in YLAG?"
The stupidity of the writing here is another level...and a car gets into a head-on with a truck, and the trucker doesn't even call the cops? And a car is left smoldering on an embankment and no one notices?
What really gets me is that MaRi 's story is still the most compelling and interesting of all the garbage shown here. The writer really blew it, when she could have made a story of the life of a challenged young adult trying to cope in the world, finding love, etc....sort of a Extraordinary Atty Woo variation. Make PS/DoRa the 2nd leads and shorten their story to eliminate most of the angst and dump most of the other characters. KBS would have had a better time with that one.
How much more? Seriously. All that happened was crying by PDR, endlessly through these episodes. Does she have…
Totally agree, and what really got me was the continuous over-acting. Especially with PS Mom, as you mention here....I can almost see the look on her face of 'do I really have to do this?' Even she knows this is a joke.
How on earth this show holds a 7.5 rating here is beyond my ability to understand.
Unbelievable. The show gets worse and worse with every passing episode. I didn’t think that episode 44 could get any lower, but 45 really takes the cake. This show stinks.
What really angers me is that they are showing a "bright, brave woman" being constantly harassed by a stalker and she refuses to do anything about it. What kind of example are they showing to Korean women???? There should be a long disclaimer at the end of these episodes telling the audience that stalking and harassment is illegal and should not be treated this way, etc......MY GOD.
Well, in Ep 43 the writer just couldn't restrain herself and checked off the final box in the cliche checklist: confession on a bridge...it wasn't much of a bridge, but then, this isn't much of a show.
I'm now convinced that she's trying to make a spoof/parody of other k-dramas at this point. Nothing else explains all the over-the-top writing of the villains, and cluelessness of the innocent. The over-acting hamminess on the part of JD and BMJ actor/actress is the cherry on top.
But in doing so, she created what I think is a major plot-hole: In their last exchange, JD tells DR about JT's plan to adopt PS, and that she shouldn't count on it, etc. This seems to go right over her head and she has no reaction to it, which makes NO sense. This should have been a "what are you talking about????" moment. The writer is too busy trying to be clever and cute, and fails miserably here, unless this is addressed in Ep 44 right away.
Fingers crossed!
