it's been three years already, and this is still my favorite bl!!! i remember waiting for the episodes each week…
Just finished rewatching both seasons! Still my fav. It would be great to get something....even a crumb! 😩

What a review! I don't think I've read one with such candid flair. Thanks for making me laugh! Considering I have only watched up to episode 3, I was coming to MDL to debate if it was worth watching the other 3 episodes. Your review helped cement my decision - I am not gonna waste more time.

P.S. seems like I would've lost money too (at least the bet was only with myself) ;)

Where can I find something similar to amidst a snowstorm of love
I think the drama Go Go Squid is very similar to AASOL in terms of the plot. If that is what you are wanting in terms of something similar, then I would recommend that. You would just be switching snooker for tech.
I can't really speak to exactly how similar or different they are since I haven't finished AASOL, but from what I have watched, the chemistry in AASOL has a quicker 'ignition' than in Go Go Squid. So be prepped for that, if you decide to give it a try.

So...why didn't Dong Wook simply make that full confession and apology when he first showed up again?Because then…
I totally get where you're coming from, but on the other hand, it's REALLY hard to just open up to someone you haven't been speaking to when it's been a few years.
I think the plot was realistic. When there has been years of separation, and the temperature of the waters, so to speak, is less than warm (bit of an understatement), then no one would just open up like that. Makes sense to me Dong Wook looked for a reason to get closer before opening up. Not saying that his methods were morally right. But I understand the reasoning.

Are you refering to Do Hyun's friend Seung Joo? His love interest? Because I was wonderjng about that too! For some reason I feel like he is familiar....🤔

Thanks for your reply! I was keen to hear your viewpoint and I appreciate being able to engage in a discussion on this. It brings me much satisfaction to be able to get a different perspective. You've given me much food for thought.

In regards to your quote, contrastingly, I have viewed adaptations as visual representations of the original work, told despite the constraints of translating one medium to another. Whereas to you, the difference in traslating the mediums automatically makes them "a fanfiction," of the original. You have definitely given me something to mull over.

You make a very valid point about the trope. If the next episodes are, if your speculation is correct, going to be a series of discoveries, it'll be interesting to see how Montree's character ends up.

Do you feel like films/series adapted from novels must always be 100% faithful to the original plot in order to be considered the same story? (And how would you even define a faithful adaptation? To what degree?) I'm genuinely curious :)
Personally, as an avid reader, I understand the frustration of adaptations. (I can think of a few that hurt my soul lol). For me, they don't have to be 100% faithful to the original plot to be a successful adaptation.
I don't think leaving a case out would make a significant difference.

I think your second point is interesting. However, if all these cases are supposed to tie in Montree, it feels weird to me that we are only just being introduced to him (at least visually) as a character in ep. 7.
**side note: how is he involved in Tharn's parents' deaths? I know Tharn says he is, but have we been told the actual story there? I may have some confusion because doesn't Tharn blame himself for their deaths? He keeps saying he'll cause the death of anyone he loves, or something. Doesn't he? Can someone please refresh my memory?

My question is why the f*ck waste time on random scences when you can give us phaya tharn stories.I absoulutly…
I agree with you. I have really enjoyed this series. It started off really strong, and I was impressed with the storytelling, and how everthing was being executed, up until maybe the last two episodes. I was just pondering over what had changed for me.
I agree that there is an issue with the pacing, but I think it goes beyond the last two eps. For me, I think it has to do with the pacing of the two different plotlines in the series. They are jarringly out of sync which makes for a very chaotic viewing. We have the mythical plotline which is very slow paced (sooo slow), and running undercurrent to the second plotline. The second plotline being the cops solving cases, which is very fast paced - we started off with their 1st (unofficial) case with their academy teacher, then the 2nd case of serial murders, and now the case of Kao. (To be honest I started ep. 7 in total confusion, because I forgot the previous case got solved. I had to pause and remind myself what happened). So much is happening in one plotline, while the other is so slow to build that I think the series would have been better off maybe sticking to one big case or something. Eh, who knows? Just what I was thinking.

I was trying to sort my thoughts about episode seven, and I always came back to Dr Chalothorn. I am intrigued…
Really like your interpretation - very interesting. Makes me now want to know about Doc. Though he lowkey gives my creepy vibes (as he's suposed to).
I was thinking the same thing about the scene with the Doc touching Art's chest - but if he didn't end up killing Kao, then it doesn't make any sense from what I can make sense of it all.

I 100% agree with everything you said, and yet I still have to see how this plays out.
was I surprised that Charlie turned out to be one of Tony's 'orphans'? No.
Also agree that anyone who is anyone should see Way's betrayal coming from a mile away. Lowkey wondering if he's the 'enigma' they keep referring to.
Also, can we talk about Charlie's 'absorption' powers? With the way Charlie has described how he absorbs people's powers, you'd think he would exhibit other special qualities, cause how else would he have found that out? And talking about how they only get returned if he dies.....I mean, how do you know that? Have you ever died to learn that?
But I'm speculating the writers or whoever, with the way they were setting things up: Charlie repeatedly mentioning he'd have to die for Babe's piwers to return & Jeff predicting that car crash, they are gonna make a scene about Charlie being in the crash and Babe's powers returning or something. I'm 50% convinced

You're totally not missing anything in terms of the plot, lol. For me, there are a few things that can make a bl awful (certain character types, toxic plot devices, among other things), and this bl isn't that (*trying not to jinx myself* that said, we're only on ep. 4).
It sure as heck not the most captivating in terms of plots - its pretty damn slow - I'm mostly hanging in to see what Charlie's secret agenda is.

I also agree with you that Babe is a bit of a dick; and the repeated mentions of the whole alpha thing is very tasteless - unless it has some intrinsic purpose to the plot, or backstory to one of the characters, it's unnecessary to mention.

Recommendations? Hmmmmm....if you want something recent, I was impressed by I Feel You Linger in the Air (completed, very good writing, editing was tight, liked the acting); another one I'm watching right now is The Sign (released up to ep 3, good acting, editing is good, plot is interesting), but my favs are a lil older...(don't know how far back you watch)

Ooop.....my reply must've been too long & MDL condensed it 😅

What I was trying to say....
For me, what I cannot stand about Way's behaviour is how he uses his knowledge of Babe's past (b/c he clearly has some knowledge of Babe's history) to further Babe's (sad & def trauma-related) stance on love. Lemme explain:

Way makes the excuse to have Charlie followed, something about making sure the team/ Babe is safe (or whatever). On the surface this isn't a bad motive, but we come to know he's actually doing it for all the wrong reasons (instigating drama, etc., because that man knew what he was doing showing photos to Babe). He then uses the sadness and discord that he's sown (cue ep. 3 scene at the bar) to convince Babe of his 'love can't be trusted' crap. It's so vile....
Just who needs friends like that?

Oh, I'm still interested in the show, but those two characters definitely frustrate me, to say the least lol.

I 100% agree with you - human nature is, by default, flawed; and Way's character very aptly shows those flaws getting the best of him when it comes to his relationship with Babe. As you said, we are very good at justifying bad behaviour sometimes. But that's not why I dislike him - we are all entitled to having those moments. For me, what I cannot stand about Way's behaviour is how he uses his knowledge of Babe's past (b/c he clearly has some knowledge of Babe's history) to further Babe's (sad & def trauma-related) stance on love. I agree, but the margin of preference is so minimal it's sad lol - they are both toxic (though to be fair, its mostly 'cause right now Charlie is just shady af since we don't know his motives......but I also canNOT stand the eager puppy dog vibes). Way is just purely toxic - manipulating your 'friend,' just because you're not getting from them what you want from the relationship, so you tell them poisonous lies is atrocious behaviour.

Someone please tell me there is hope for this drama. I am getting so fed up with the FL and ML. I'm at ep. 10…
The leads are just ridiculously uncommunicative with each other - to a childish degree - on numerous occassions. Consideting the so called 'mutual interest ' I would've hoped to see more lil nuggets of burgeoning feelings. But if anything, with the way they're acting - it looks more like a frenemies plot (and leaning more to the latter end). I was actually so hopeful for this drama. Really liked the ML actor, and I'm all for a drama where the FL is actively pursuing their love interest. But this just isn't hitting.... and I'm well past my usual 3 ep try-out *sigh*
