I don’t think drama as any good message it just for fun and the drama is not based on the real universe it a…
I can see where you're coming from. For me, I believe that art mirrors reality. And that tv, movies, etc. fall under what I consider to be art. Therefore, I am conscious of what shows are "reflecting." If that makes sense.
I understand your concern. But for me, the writers, the production and the actors handled it carefully. From the…
Thank you for this. I do appreciate character development, and didn't take that into consideration when it comes to XXX, nor WNY's reticence when it comes to the pact. Those nuances do make a difference. However, I agree that I am reserving judgment based on the continued development of their relationship.
Sis, please see this show for what it is, borderline soft core! Please don’t look for meaning in a show that…
Friend, I get where you are coming from. I do see the chaos of the writing and genre hopping (and enjoyed the randomness of it all). The sudden dragon appearance had me laughing so hard. But I also saw concerning messaging. Both of these things can exist simultaneously. And we should address and discuss them. Which we should do with everything we watch. Don't you think that every show/ movie applies meaning as intented by the director? I personally do, and I watch shows bearing this in mind...though not always intentionally. But when I see a pattern, and its one that I find concerning, then why not address it?
There's something I've been meaning to speak about regarding this series for a bit that I have found very troubling, which is the pact/ intimacy plot in this series.
I have found it creepy (to say the LEAST) that one of the main plot lines of the series is this 'pact' making between the main CP (I know it is between Rens and Yins, but I am focusing on the main CP for the purpose of what I find concerning). Their will-they/won't-they dynamic creates this over-involvement with the main CP's intimacy.
The story started off with WNY being very afraid of XXX (and so ofcourse, uncomfortable with physical contact). In the first epsiode, physical contact, with the threat of intimacy, was forced upon her by XXX, and she was scared. And similar scenes have been rinsed and repeated many times throughout the show. Except....gradually they changed. WNY's fear slowly changed over the course of the series. It lessened, then became acceptance. And I'm sure myself and other viewers are awaiting the confessions of love.
But what does this say? What is this series telling us about partnership, boundaries, and consent? That these things do not matter? Pursue them long enough and eventually they'll accept you / love you?
I started watching this series because I found the chaos and randomness very entertaining. However, it has become a show that has made me deeply concerned, and questioning the hidden messaging that are being conveyed to the audience.
The trailer was entirely too much information and not enough at the same time. Why oh why do they feel the need…
100% agree It was a whole lotta nothing. Which leads me to think it may be one of those series that tries to do too much and ends up accomplishing nothing. Which would be a shame. Hope for the best, but I certainly have my reservations.
guys! I can’t! I’m so unable to complete this drama. I watched 8 episodes but I can’t go any further. Esther…
Honestly....I was not digging it either and I did watch the whole thing. I would save your time. No hate against the actors - I think they are really good. But I agree - Jiang Mu was very frustrating for me to watch as a character too, young or matured. And do NOT get me started on Jin Zhao... I totally understand how hard it can be to drop dramas...I had to learn how to do that myself. But your time is precious, and should go towards something you actually enjoy.
Do I prefer logic, and staying within the realm of reality? Yes. But I cannot deny that I have been mightily entertained by the sheer unhinged chaos and total lack of linear storytelling.
This series has been great so far, and I've really been enjoying it. But I don't know if I can endure MONTHS of waiting each week for a new ep *crying*
I have to admit: I don't feel it ... I don't feel the romance blooming which should be there, I don't feel the…
Sad to say, but agree. I'm not feeling it either :( I don't know if it's the writing, the plot, or what, but I'm just not getting into this one. It's just not coming together for me. And as a JoongDunk fan, really love to see them take on different roles. I have seen great strides in Dunk's acting, but I think the writing is not doing him (well....either of them tbh) any good here...
I'm not someone that has to watch romance all the time, so I was looking forward to a palate cleanser, but this is not that....
I am not understanding how I have gotten to episode 6 at this point.....
Sure, Jira and Koh have chemistry (I mean, its OffGun, com'on) but Koh is an arse of the highest order. I cannot stand Koh as a character. A little more backstory into his character as this point would probably have been helpful, but the tidbits so far do not make me like him. I understand him....I do not like him.
Pheem and Jira have zero chemistry. And I honestly would not want to see Jira end up with Pheem. Pheem is a player who is all upset because he got (totally without intention) played. He fell in love. And in some weird twisted logic, has to "get" Jira, as though he is some kind of trophy, in order to validate his own ego? Gives me the ick.
I am on the fence about watching any more of this. Usually at this point in a series there would be more development .... in the plot, with the characters and their dynamics, even some sort of backstory on the characters. But I am left feeling somewhat short changed.
Girl what the fuck was that. Please never put PoohPavel in such a huge clusterfuck ensemble cast ever again because…
I was LOOKING for a comment about Alan and was surprised by how little the comments mention him. I really liked him S1, but by end of this season I can say I detest him! In total agreement with you.
I think this is the first time I have ever screamed so much over a cliffhanger/ teaser of an episode conclusion as with episode 7. I literally exploded. I have to go calmn down now lol
Ok, I just finished the 6th episode and I thought that was it....I was like, 'a cliffhanger?!' (esp after THAT preview 👀). PHEW! I was so affronted, and a lil too ready to jump into the comments to gently "rage" until my dumb butt realized the show is still airing.🫣😅 This show has me SOOOOO hooked.
Someone pls tell me I'm not alone....or that I'm pretty 😃
You and me both. I finished it but feel a bit like my 4.5 is too high at this point. I might adjust it depending…
Welp, glad I am not the only one! I finished it too. Once I got 10 eps in, my time was already invested. I figured I had to finish it, though I did debate not. I rated it 4.0/10. So y'all are pretty generous.
Watching this seriously hurt my heart. Sorn is such a red flag it was DIABOLICAL, and Tai was so frickin lukewarm. Such ends of the spectrum, and neither of them good! 😓
I do also want to add...from the comments I have seen discussions of Sorn having some redemption or growth in the end? Towards that discussion, I would like to add this: For someone that manipulative and selfish? Changed behaviour means nothing once they've gotten what they wanted. It is just further manipulation. His behaviour when he wasn't getting what he wanted (such as Jun's boundaries) = his true intentions.
How more toxic can Sorn get? I'm waiting for a redemption arc, but he's not helping.
Right? I dislike him so much as a character. Not so much in the beginning but BOY that changed as the series went on. And I have been telling Jun to run-run-run the hell away 'cause Sorn is such a selfish and manipulative person. Watching the interactions between Jun and Sorn in ep. 10 made me soooo peeved.

Kind of rambled a lot 😅
