Smart Female Lead

If you enjoyed Love is Sweet, you'll love this!

I'm always drawn to dramas with smart/strong female leads. I like Seven Tan and Kenny Lin, so I gave this a go. I like that she wasn't being the secretary for too long and that she doesn't let anything to stop her ambition to be an investor.

What I love most about this drama is the slow burn romance and the banters between the ML and FL. The character development of ML is amazing. His character is not just one dimensional - in fact it's three dimensional. Kenny Lin is great at portraying the character with many different emotional levels.

The supporting characters are also so adorable I have a tendency to fast forward supporting characters' storyline but not with this. The supporting characters are all so adorable.

This drama is just getting better and better the closer it is to it's ending. I always get so excited to watch the next day's episodes.

Mature Aged Viewing

This drama was so good in the first half. Then after episode 5/6, I just lost interest on continuing. I fast forwarded so much that I end up only watching about 5-10 minutes each episodes. Very very disappointing.

The charm of this drama lies in the super good looking casts and the realistic portrayal of modern love (friends with benefits). The chemistry between the leads are incredibly sizzling (in the first few episodes anyway, before the FL turned nasty to the ML).

This drama reminds me of "Cheese Trap" K-drama.

From episode 5/6, the FL was trying to avoid ML like a plaque. Whenever she sees him, she always gave him the hateful look, which really creeps me out. We're talking about few episodes of that - what a joke!

PS. The butterfly tattoo on the back of Song Kang's neck is soooo totally hot!!!

Slow Burning Love

This drama is the same genre as Go Ahead. I might say it's somehow much better because it deals with more adult matters, and how the relationship of the main leads are very respectful and mature.

The main leads have a very strong chemistry. Li Xian is so adorable, the way he looks at the FL, you can really see love! I wasn't really his fan before, even though I liked Go Go Squid, I watched it mainly because of Yang Zi. But this drama made me his fan!

Crystal Liu, she's so beautiful and so calming. I also wasn't her fan before, I watched her in Once Upon a Time (with Yang Yang). That movie made me cringe even though I love Ten Miles of Peach Blossom. Anyway, I love her in this drama.

The reason for not giving a 10 is because the side characters storyline. Some of them are okay, but some I really don't care about (like the singer, the guy who meditated a lot, the spoiled girl who's Dad has a supermarket, the novelist, the waitress - wait aren't they all of them hahaha). I understand the side characters storyline are important to bring the drama to intertwine together. And I did watch them all (fast forwarding the singer and the meditate guy).

They have lots of very catchy beautiful songs, some which I put in my Spotify playlist.

Overall a beautiful drama to watch and I will wholeheartedly recommend this (and recommend you to just fast forward the sideline stories you're not interested on haha).

Why is this so popular?

I just finished watching With You (1996) and reading the reviews I see a lot of people wrote about how Love So Beautiful reminds them of that. It got me intrigued and got me watching.

The FL was totally obsessed with ML and chased after him even though he ignored her most of the time (and the rest of the time was just being rude to her). ML talked to her as if she's rubbish, told her to do things and kissed her several times without consent. Why do people think this is cute 🧐???!!!

I skipped a lot in the middle but I did enjoyed the last 3 or 4 episodes where they all grew up and she had a bit more self respect.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend. I don't know why is this drama so popular??! Very disappointed to myself for wasting several hours watching this.

All Time Favourite K-drama

Dong Yi is my all time favourite k-drama. I watched it from beginning to end every couple of years.

Everything about it is so brilliant. Dong Yi's character, the King's absolute love to Dong Yi, Dong Yi's son, Dong Yi's orabuni Chun Soo who always put her first even though it means she never knows how much he loves her, you name it.

Every character play their part to the perfection.

I bawled my eyes out every.single.time (tears of happiness and tears of sadness)!!

10/10 all the way.

An Enjoyable Watch

I started this drama because I liked the title, it sounds so romantic. I know the the ML, FL and of course, 2ML, from their previous works.

ML wanted to protect FL, hence made her his sister (she had an amnesia so she didn't remember her past). It gets a bit icky when the two of them started to have feelings for each others. But remember, ML always knows Ming Su is not his real sister. And FL used to be in love with ML (they almost got married at one stage), so they can't help it when the feelings creeps back in.

I like how the drama unfolds. It brings new characters every few episodes, which some ends up connected to others.

I've only seen Wang Zi Qi at The Love You Give Me. I think he looks so much better now. His shoulder seems wider? It gives the feeling of dependable and security, which is needed as he's playing a role of the man of his house (his father died when he was young).

Would I recommend this drama?

If you want to watch a realistic drama, move over, this is not for you . If you want to watch fluffy make your heart smile drama (and generate laughters), then yes I will recommend you to watch this.

The pull and push in the ML and FL relationship is just so awkward and draggy. But don't worry, this drama gets better and better.

I read some parts the novel as I finished watching ep 20 to see which one is worse, the drama or the novel. The answer is, the novel by heaps! Why? Because the novel has no Bai Lu and Dylan. At first I thought this was an adaptation of an anime, so I was surprised to find out it's a novel. The novel is so badly written, so cringy.

I would certainly have dropped this drama after just 1 or 2 episodes if not because I love Bai Lu and how good looking Dylan is as the CEO. In fact, I wouldn't even touch this drama if not because of Bai Lu and Dylan.

The couple with the best storyline is actually ML's niece with the professor. The niece is the youngest amongst the 3 female leads, yet she's the only mature one (with FL's best friend being the worst of all).

The business side of the story is actually not too bad.

CONS:
1. FL continuedly lied to ML all the way (well so far anyway, I'm at ep 20 now).
2. The second leads (Shan Shan and Mr Gu Jnr)... What the heck?!? Fast forward all the way.

PRO:
Bashing this drama aside, I do enjoy watching Bai Lu and Dylan - and the 2ML, and 3ML. This drama is definitely swoon worthy and full of eye candy. I smiled and giggled a lot watching this. I would even rewatch just to watch the ML and FL chemistry. So according to my enjoyment level, I'm giving this a 9 (the novel I would give a 4.5!)

My Favourite Drama Ever!

This is by far my favourite Chinese drama ever.

The character development here is impressive.

The only story arch I skipped is the Demon Princess. Only because this series totalled up to 60 something!! But I do love the Demon Princess character especially her loyalty to Xu Feng.

The music in this drama is just awesome. I love Sa Ding Ding's voice!

I have read some criticism for this drama. And I still think it's perfect. So enjoyable to watch. Started more light-hearted and progressively turned harrowing.

Great Drama with Strong and Smart Female Lead

I have watched this drama twice. First when it came out in 2022, and now few years later, in 2025 (when I couldn't find anything else I wanted to watch in Viki Rakuten app, so I decided to revisit old drama). I couldn't believe I would enjoy it as much (and maybe more) as the first time I watched it.

The story takes place in a small rural area in China. Everyone dressed up accordingly, minimum make up, no fuss hair style. It's rather refreshing!

Xing Fu is such a strong and smart character with a can do attitude, you will root for her. Her husband Qing Lai, is the opposite. Sure , he's a nice guy. But he has a weak character and I must say, not very smart. One of her co-workers even commented to Xing Fu that her husband doesn't deserve her. I totally agree. Even though I think Xing Fu deserve better, the way she chose her husband over her career is also one endearing quality which makes me respect Xing Fu more. It's not just for her husband - she also did it for her child, she didn't want her child to grow up without her. Her decision to move back to the village also didn't signal her as giving up her fighting spirit. She had bigger things planned.

I suspect the part where Xing Fu chose her family over her career is somewhat a propaganda to reduce the divorce rate in China! But oh well.

I have to be honest that the second time I watched this drama, it was from episode 18 onwards. That's when Luo Jin's character, Guan Tao, started to appear regularly - that's when Xing Fu and her husband moved to the city to find work.

I first watched this drama because I was a big fan of Luo Jin. When I found out he wasn't the main lead (he first show up briefly in episode 4), I was already fallen in love with Xing Fu's character, so I kept on going regardless.

Throughout the drama, I kept wondering whether there will be a love triangle between Xing Fu, Guan Tao and Qing Lai. It never happened. The closest thing was in episode 27, when Xing Fu handed in her resignation. Guan Tao was heart broken because he, Xing Fu and 2 other lawyers have been through thick and thin in building their company from the scratch, so losing her means a lot for him. Their relationship is still so beautiful to watch though. Wonderful acting by the casts!

A Drama That Touches Your Heart

I stumbled into this drama by Instagram short clips recommendation. I have always loved Moon Ga Young, but never heard of Kim Dong Wook. At first I was surprised someone with his look can be a male lead (because he doesn't have the strikingly handsome face like for example Lee Min Ho or Chang Wok).

As the drama progressed, it quickly became evident to me that Kim Dong Wook is really really good at what he's doing. He seriously have that male lead quality. His eyes really tells how he feels. When he smiles he made me smile with him. When he's sad, my heart breaks for him.

I love this drama so much. It's so beautiful. The chemistry between the main lead and secondary lead is just amazing.

The story keeps on building up to better and better. Even when you think it couldn't be better than that, then the next story was even more interesting. It keeps me on my toes until the last minute of final season. This is quite rare, so I'm giving this a 10!

Definitely will watch this again in the future.

Entertaining

I came across a clip of this drama on YouTube while I was watching tennis on YouTube. The plot of this drama (contract marriage) is something which I usually avoid. But somehow the acting of the actors and actresses made me can't stop watching. They are believable and not over the top.

The FL reminds me of Zhao Liying (Boss and Me) so much, that it could have been played by her!

Overall, I really enjoy watching this. The lines are funny and smart. I burst out laughing few times for every episode I watch.

Would recommend for someone looking for lighthearted comedy with a heart. Watching this drama makes me happy.

Perfect Novel Adaptation

I love this drama so much that I actually watched this several times. Everytime I finished watching the whole 39 episodes, I would continue the story by reading the novel.

This novel adaptation is so perfect, that when I read it, I have all the actors playing the scenes in my head. I think all the actors and actresses were perfectly cast.

Even though I ship Tushan Jing with Xiao Yao, my favourite character is actually Cang Xuan. The actor who plays him didn't win me at halo (He's not my definition of handsome) but oh boy, he totally nailed it. His strength are his micro expressions and his voice. His voice is just mesmerising, and I don't even understand Mandarin that much!!!!!!!

I can feel for the conflicted Cang Xuan. People might say it's his own doing which caused him to lose Xiao Yao (hence the title "Lost You Forever). But I feel like the choices he made, he did it to protect Xiao Yao - it wasn't just because he's power hungry (well he does want to conquer the world, he's not completely innocent haha). He needed to be powerful so when people find out who her real father is, he will be able to protect her. His struggles whenever he has to give his blessings to Xiao Yao's wedding(s) is just so real.

** SPOILER** When he agreed to the suicide pact with Xiao Yao, that was when I saw how much he loves Xiao Yao, that he would let go of being a King (and abandon the world) and he would choose to die if he doesn't have Xiao Yao. It was the only time he made a decision as himself. Yes, he's a bastard for killing Tushan Jing, but he was just fighting for the only woman he wants to be with (even though he was much too late for that as Xiao Yao's heart already completely belonged to Jing).

Yang Zi is just an amazing actress. The amount of tears I shed while watching this drama (and I watched this at least 5 times by now), wow!!!

The OSTs are also outstanding in my opinion. I find songs really do help to push some dramas from great to outstanding.

I would recommend this drama if you like to watch characters who are layered. You won't be disappointed!

Lovely to Watch

I watched this while looking for other movies by the male lead of The Gentleman and a Young Lady.

I surprisingly really enjoyed watching this. It's one of those drama with simple storyline, acted well and most importantly, not silly.

10 episodes is also a nice length. I think because it's only 10, that's why the storyline is just right - no need for them to stretch the story and add unnecessary things (which can be an annoyance).

The romance blooms organically for the FL (It was love at the first sight for the ML). FL is very beautiful but she's one of those natural beauty, not too overpowering.

Disappointing

I've been a huge fan of Yang Zi for many years. But I have to say, this drama is a dud.

I heard that this is an adaptation from a novel which wasn't popular. I tried to read the novel and now I know why that novel wasn't popular. The story sucks. The writer seems to be someone who never actually live in the real world, but watched too many drama and maybe read too many novels!

I watched up to episode 28 (because I wanted to support Yang Zi) until when I couldn't take it anymore and dropped it.

I don't have anything against good childhood friends turned into lovers. In fact, I have several which I love, like With You, Love is Sweet, Reply 1988, Our Secret, Go Ahead, etc. But I find it very hard to stomach Love Endures. For a start, all the leads are just way too old to play themselves as high school students. I also find their acting unconvincing. Maybe because the storyline is so bad, it's impossible to be convincing. Or maybe its their acting which is so bad they made the storyline looks bad. I don't know which one is which anymore!

The chemistry between the leads (main and the supporting) are non existent. They have chemistry of friends, not lovers.

Very disappointing.

Edited: The amount of hate I get for writing this bad review is unbelievable! If they can write a review in favour, why can't they accept that not everyone is in favour of this drama?

Thin Storyline

I came here to watch Lusi.

The FL and ML's chemistry was good. Good enough for me to want to watch until they made it into a couple. Then I couldn't get myself to carry on to continue watching the subsequent episodes.

Lusi did her best of being her usual a lively character, which I love. But the storylines are not interesting enough. I have zero interest on the side characters stories. SPOILER: the guy who used to have a crush on FL changed his course and fell for FL's maid, who treated him so rudely in the beginning. She was over the top rude!

The story of ML and FL is a bit unsettling. A student and teacher in a romantic relationship? My heart couldn't take it, I was always on my toes that they wouldn't get caught by the others in the academy. I understand both are in the marrying age, but it just feels so wrong for a teacher to "abuse" his position that way. He just seemed to be a horny guy whenever he saw her!

I have to say the SML is the coolest character here.

I wouldn't recommend this drama. I'm now looking forward to watch Lusi's next drama with Yang Yang!
