I also said it earlier that ep 7 was emotionally charged. It is really great drama
Yes, I agree. He built it up so well from the ending of episode 6 then throughout 7 that the emotional impact is massive. What a master of his craft, Zheng Xiaolong.
Incredible episode 7, I had to stop after it and take a break because emotionally it was simply overwhelming.
Zheng Xiaolong is a master director and every single person acted so incredibly well. What I love is that these tiny roles feel like real people. The workers felt like a cohesive group, with real lives and emotions and motives. It is so rare to find this these days, it takes an incredibly skilled director to bring it all to life so that when the big moments happen they emotionally resonate even more.
Xiao Zhan was out of this world today. It was so important that he rise to the occasion or everything would have fallen flat but he went beyond what was required. What a masterclass of acting. He absolutely carries this drama in the full.
watching the scenes of jingyi & xiaozhan again and again. they just stare at each other & i melt. them sharing…
This is why people hate romance fans. In eight episodes you focus on nothing that lasted maybe five minutes and you skip over the high quality and substance that is going on. I will never understand this attitude.
It's so disheartening seeing this rating. So many people worked on this drama, tried their best, they produce a high quality work and then it's rated as 1 by jealous pathetic little babies that can't cope with reality.
How come they didn't have anyone else who knew how to disarm the tomb? I understand the new geomancy people are…
I know what you mean but I was confused why the whole empire staff doesn't have any competent people left at all. I understand now with all the explanations on how they did these. Cruel. But I think I like this drama, among other things, because it isn't running away from the cruelty of the past. Great director!
I have a question about episode 3, if someone can help please.
How come they didn't have anyone else who knew how to disarm the tomb? I understand the new geomancy people are incompetent but there is nobody else left?
I have finally finished all four and wow. That's all I can say. Episode 1 was really disturbing, I didn't expect that but at least it gave a good preview of the tone we should expect.
I am hoping the drama keeps the focus on revenge because that's really got me in a grip. I thought it would be good but it is actually better than I expected.
I have waited for this one for so long! Ever since we heard of Xiao Zhan working with Zheng Xiaolong, I have been impatient considering what a masterpiece his ZHZ was. I can only hope we get some of that genius here too. Xiao Zhan and his exquisite acting plus Zheng Xiaolong directing, it doesn't get better than that. Twenty days of heaven!
As much as I cheers for xz I don’t think it will beat WWX role, this type very serious drama wont catch young…
Yeah, no. Classic shipper argument. Xiao Zhan only becoming popular because of TU being based on a BL novel, going on and on about CP.
You have been diminishing him for five years and enough.
CQL had one and only one leading actor. That was Xiao Zhan. He exploded as Wei Wuxian, not because a niche section of the audience was into CP, but because his incredible performance of the character itself resonated with a huge number of people who didn't even know CQL was based on a BL. Nobody, nobody ever came close to WWX explosion and that was because Xiao Zhan played that role the way he did.
You can diminish his talents and achievements to somebody else. I personally am done with you shippers and your agenda.
Oh and Wei Wuxian isn't even his most popular role in China. It is Gu Yiye.

Xiao Zhan became famous as an actor, in particular his portrayal of Wei Wuxian.
His acting, not anything else and definitely not some CP. It has never been necessary for a role to become iconic. What is necessary is a well written character, a good, coherent plot, a great director and then an actor to put all that together and elevate it.
Andy Dufresne, Vito Corleone, Mikhail Vronsky, Randle McMurphy, Raymond Babbitt, so many world iconic roles that had nothing to do with CP. In cdrama, Mei Changsu as the prime example of an iconic role that came from an actor realising a brilliant character.
Why are you causing confusion on purpose? There is nothing to doubt about. It has been scheduled in both papers…
All the information is here on this page. They even uploaded a scan of the newspapers a few days ago. So there is nothing to "think" about whether it's the 18th or not when we have had confirmation days ago and it was posted here. That kind of ambiguous language of "I think that it's true" just causes confusion.
According to this usually pretty accurate blogger tomorrow, they will announce the May 18 premier date: https://weibo.com/2949989907/5165440255396389I…
Why are you causing confusion on purpose?
There is nothing to doubt about. It has been scheduled in both papers and on CCTV app. The date is May 18th and it has been known for days.

Get a life.
What a cruel practice though!
I am hoping the drama keeps the focus on revenge because that's really got me in a grip. I thought it would be good but it is actually better than I expected.
And the drama isn't going to air before 19:30 in China.
