What! I thought that was an important award. Turkish drama Kera Sevda and Love and destiny won it back then, how…
LOL. I've seen both dramas you've mentioned. And I've also seen The Song of Glory and I liked it. With Kara Sevda I got tired with the push and pull that was playing almost the entire long series. This was the drama that I wanted the male antagonist to win so badly that I really sympathize with him. I got bored with Burak Ozcevit's portrayal being the male lead or just the character itself.
It's off topic here but just want everyone to know - The Song of Glory won the 2021 International Emmy Awards for Telenovela category against 3 other entries that made the cut.
It's bcoz of the probability of a sad ending that I'm not waiting to binge this. I'll rewatch with you if we get…
I get you. With me I watched it all the way through on my first try because that was the time I was getting the hang of Chinese historical/fantasy genre. I also like Cecilia Liu because of Scarlet Heart - my first Chinese historical drama. At that time I ran out of Western made series to watch that interest me. Lost Love In Times gets more interesting after she did the time reset around episode 6 or 7. Costume design for women was terrific so is the hair and make-up.

I can see you really like this drama so far and you like happy endings. Check out Lost Love in Times if you haven't yet. It's William Chan & Cecilia Liu. As of the moment it's my number one Chinese fantasy/historical drama. I can't believe I've watched it several times. Good story and great chemistry between the leads. Don't be fooled by the first few minutes of the drama.

Am I right to say that this rabid behavior are those fans of actors and actresses that are in their mid-30s and younger and are really active online? I mostly watch Chinese historical/period dramas not the modern ones. What I observed is most of these genre dramas are youth-centric and are the ones that get subtitled immediately. Too bad because I think there's really a lot of Chinese dramas with these genres that are really good but never get subtitled or even takes almost a decade until someone gets interested in doing so. This is what I observed: most of those are helmed by cast that are beyond mid-30s or lacking of fandom. I'm such a sucker for period dramas specially the Republican romantic/espionage dramas that I get disappointed after reading the interesting synopsis and it's not subtitled.
I saw a lot of talk about scores in douban, to be honest I'm not surprised anymore by the broken score in douban…
Non-Chinese here and not an active social media user. I follow current affairs and international news closely. When I heard the news few months ago that the Chinese government in mainland had decided to intervene and regulate the entertainment industry; due to fans' behavior toward their admired Chinese stars. It was described as the idol worship is like a cult-like behavior as manifested. I thought goodness that was an extreme overreach. I recall my teen-age years and realized that in a way we behaved this way but not to this extreme based on what I observed from the comment section here. It's funny because these actors and actresses for sure just go on with their daily lives to work and perhaps couldn't be bothered with the fan-feud and they're making lots of money.
So far this has become my favorite Chinese historical fantasy/wuxia drama. I might change my mind after all the episodes are shown. Regardless of sad or happy ending I would still like it. Alas! After almost a year of dry season eventually something with this kind of genre was released. And I'm so ecstatic! It is all subjective really. A lot of the same genre were released but didn't live up to my expectations or either too youth-centric. Nothing against it - that's the market but I hope the drama creators won't forget that there are audience in their 30s, 40s and beyond who love this.
Really like the opening scene, it is compelling and it piques your interest. One of the funny moments was the scene where Fang Zhiyoung had to go through physical exam on behalf of Haishi. I can't stop laughing every time I remember that scene. I can relate to Haishi's hero worship for her master that eventually developed into something deeper. I've been there during my teen-age years. I was always attracted to men way older than me. Never dated men of the same age. With that saying the demented emperor is so good. So delectable! He shows this cruel and vicious facade but then he has a good heart. I'd like him to be my man. The actor is brilliant in his portrayal. His manliness is displayed on his facial expressions and voice. He made me fall in love with him. I know it might sound perverse but eh. The psychologically abused eunuch - such a hostile work place for him. ;o I enjoy their dynamics same with Haishi and Zhiyoung. I can't wait to finish this drama. Love it to bits. Of course it's not perfect it is also beset with annoying dialogues and perhaps others. What am I going to do on Monday and Tuesday when this drama is not airing?
I love the drama but I can read critiques. I'm an adult so discussion is welcome that's how it's should be. This…
On the issue of her not being able to get pregnant, they always blamed women specially during those times. Science is lost on them that sexual interaction is needed & sometimes men are impotent.:O

Yup iQiyi's sub is kind of funky. Even prince Jing Ling is referred to as king. I like her too but I have a strong feeling she will become an antagonist in this drama due to jealousy.

:O There's always plot holes, right? Even the ever renowned Game of Thrones has and endured a lot of criticisms on its last season. I haven't seen the queen yet, you might be referring to the Grand Consort Sun mother of Prince Jing Ling?
