I don't even dare to watch the trailers anymore. I know I'm going to be heart broken.
LOL! OK Xu Cai is handsome but too young for my taste. Whereas for me Toby can be - you can call me a cougar (slightly). :O

Translations of this show is quite bad. If you first watch it without reading the synopsis you can be easily misled…
Oh don't worry I've been watching fr that site since perhaps 2018 or early 2019.:O They have lots of dramas not available on Viki & iQiyi. That's where I found Too Late To Say I Love You, Shanghai Bund & etc.

Of finish it. It's soo good promise you'll not regret. Love them both as well. Toby is fantastic - he's so handsome in a manly way. We call it "brusco".:O

Do you mean Yi Kang? Technically, he *is* just a prince. His sickly, (unseen) older brother is the emperor. Some…
Sure. I love history but not an expert in Chinese just started few months ago to delve into it. I pretty much use Google to search. Not much written about him though because it was a short-lived dynasty. To be honest I didn't know that this main male character was based on history. I normally check on Brittanica.com. Check this link from @PeachBlossomGoddess.

I am at ep 28. Why villain girl still alive. She is with grand dowager should have rang the bell by now. Not sure…
Well well well...get use to this. You're watching a Chinese drama. If you've partaken some already the villains have always extended lives. :O Nevertheless this is still a good one for me despite of cliches. I know what you mean about the series 24 but that's a stretch. I have my frustrations about C dramas as well but they still provide good entertainment. And some are really good.

It's funny finished watching 12 episodes. I believe this is the Chinese version from the Korean original Sungkyunkwan Scandal. Check out Arsenal Military Academy a bit similar - a lady taking on a man's identity. Great cast & story. It's a fun ride.

It's entertaining, just ignore the stupid stuff. Like running with the super secret life saving and obscure potion…
I agree. That was so moronic. Either the writer or director's order. Even a child would definitely secure it specially if you're traveling on a far distance. :O But I still love this drama despite it's flaws. Thank god for the leads and supporting cast.

How I wish they have some sort of editor. Though Viki is really slow the subtitle is better.

To be honest it happens to me then I have to research. Don't worry you're not alone. Chinese names are very confusing specially if they are royals. I'm kind of used now. In C-dramas or real life there's a lot of names for a king or emperor. Such as: a) They have given birth name; b) nicknames; c) official title - this is when he's just a prince; d) official emperor/king's title; e) temple name when he's dead. For sure I missed something.:O

Well it's always nice to know other's perspectives or the so called critiques.:O Nice to have exchange of opinions even if its of opposite ones. I would rather have it objectively done instead of being persnickety. But, if you'll just depend on that feedback you'll miss out a lot of good dramas. Sadly perhaps a lot of people will forgo watching this after viewing her video.

I believe the newer ones posted in 2020 are not that bad or later part of 2019. I've been dying to finish Spy Hunter and when I finally able to continue...dang! What a joke! I was extremely frustrated. This drama is so good that I don't watch it with bad subs. Also the ones on Youtube that Mango did is only up to episode 11 and they have better subtitle.

Yalls, I hate Lu Yuan SO MUCH. Ugh. He's getting away with so much. I don't think I've ever hated a villain this…
Tonight will be episodes 29 & 30 and we're still dealing with him. He's one of the main villains so as for C-drama he will survive perhaps until the end.

Translations of this show is quite bad. If you first watch it without reading the synopsis you can be easily misled or confused. They keep referring to prince Jing Ling as king and prince Peng Cheng is also a king. What? Beggars can't be choosers sometimes with cheap iQiyi. I was glad I finally signed up for this app because I've been wanting to finish Spy Hunter (ones available on Youtube with subs is only up to episode 11). Deeply disappointed with the subtitle that I can't continue watching it. Pardon me but what a horse shit!

LOL! I will borrow your metaphor and indeed I also "lost all my muscle control." I checked it out and can't finish watching it. I agree a small portion of her rant but come on! She's trying to be a known and worst NYT critique or somewhat. Looks to me that she only watch the show to pick it apart.

catfighting will be halted for few more episodes but I don't think king Peng Cheng & Li Ge will have a great time…
For sure they will endure more suffering. I want to find the screenwriter and wring his/her neck including that of the director for allowing this farce to happen. They just need to fictionalized it and indicate from every episode that the events being shown are fiction.

Yeah these last two episodes were quite solid but I still have a huge problem with the way the writers make it…
I agree. What's up with that? These flaws are downright moronic. It defies logic for me that the prince's power does not supersede that of Lu Yuan - that he can just easily question & disregard his superiors without serious ramification. OK we saw that once, he was removed from his power but then somehow he's back again making use of his army. Well there are explanations for his actions or mentioned flaws however it's such a stretch. Ahhh! Chinese dramas really defies everything!

You missed the memo.
