Thanks for your response now I understand. I guess China has higher standards for that then. But isn't it part of the actors/actresses job to nail the accent? Since it's a requirement why don't they learn it that's part of the craft. I understand the reasons however I would really like to see someday un-dubbed Cdramas. I'm a huge fan of Chinese historical dramas and watched to exaggerate millions. :O But sometimes I stopped watching some due to the sound quality.

What exactly is the point of dubbing Chinese dramas? Don't get me wrong I've watched tons of Cdramas and I'm a fan. I never found the answer to this question. It sometimes ruin my the watching experience because either the voice doesn't sync or sound so unnatural. But when I watch the older Cdramas it seems that I could hear the real voice of the cast. Kindly enlighten...

FL is not beautiful—there are many women far more attractive than her—yet the author forces ML to love only…
It's true that there are more beautiful Chinese actresses out there in the dramaland compared to WJY but few of them can really act. I'm glad they chose her for this role because it would have a different effect and I'm really enjoying the story so far. It reminds me of Chinese dramas created circa 2011 to 2019. It's very obvious that she's older than the ML. In terms of her make-up, I'd like to fire that person who was in charged to this. They could have also applied the same tone to her neck. Her face looked so white in most of the shots and her neck has darker tone. Attibuted to this could be her weight as well - she looks so waifish. So far every episode keeps me hooked and I hope it continues this way.

This is such a shockingly enjoyable drama so far! Despite the over-used of slow motion effect and lots of closed-up shots, the story and the way how it's conveyed through the screen is so far done right. It can perhaps be attributed to the male cast. Most of them look like manly men - only few waifs and the two female leads are very endearing.

Really enjoyed this drama from beginning to end. How I wished it had more episodes. Sadly I couldn't find another Korean drama of the same genre and setting. I also love Bibi's performance as heiress of an illegal drug empire. In fact I wanted JCW's character to end up with her however it's just a wishful thinking.

I‘d love recommendations for similar dramas that are mostly realistic historical ensemble pieces without much…
In addtion, so many characters from The Nokdu Flower are based from real history and even the events.

There is a very good Korean drama titled The Nokdu Flower. It's about politics, war, the merchants lives and slight romance. It's based and inspired by the peasant revolution during the Joseon dynasty.

I'm rewatching this for the 3rd time and I don't get tired. Love the story and the cast. I miss this bunch of actors who really looked like the real male species instead of the current trend being a waif.

They’d have to replace the lead actress because fan Bing Bing career is over due to scandal that she went through…
I guess it's also jealosy someone behind just wants to take her down. Or perhaps if they are men they are disgruntled suitors.

Ci Sha always give a different level of performance compared to his peers from same generation. Perhaps you can't really consider him an idol because he does more movies instead of idol dramas. He can act, do martial arts, horseback riding, archery & etc. Another plus - he doesn't look gaunt like others. He is a manly man. This story started slow at first and after few episodes it hooked me. Ren Min has great chemistry with Ci Sha. I was rather surprised that I enjoyed this drama.

This is such a great drama. It really captured my fantasy and imagination. Well chosen leads and Liu Shi Shi has always good chemistry with her male leads in all historical dramas I've watched. How I wished they chose a different actor who played as Re Xin's disciple - the actor who played it lacked depth in his portrayal. In other words not the right person for the role.

Have you seen Legend of Fei? They tried to make the actress look younger by make up and it was pretty much like…
Nope I have not watch Legend of Fei. But I believe with the right balance it could have been achieved. I don't advocate colorful make-up for the 2 princes but I guess they could have done something better for the younger characters. Nevertheless I still like the cast and for opting a realistic look but for me it could have been better.

I like this drama so far though it started slightly slow for me but it's alright. Zhang Zi Yi is indeed a great actress, she can pass on portraying as a teen-aged character. The scene where she was dancing sans camera close up really evokes youthful character. However I agree with others for casting a younger Wang Xuan and same thing goes with the two princes and other princess. For some reason I'm not really that bothered and I like the cast so I give a pass for the creators.

I blame the make-up & editing departments for comments regarding the main cast's appearance. Zhang Zi Yi is beautiful and to play a teen-aged princess must be a piece of cake for her with her acting skill. However cameras don't lie. This is where the magic of the make-up artist comes to play. Colorful palette could have been used in order to help project youthful character. Pinkish or slightly red glossy tints for luscious lips. A hint of glow for facial foundation instead of matte. A little splash of color on her cheeks and finally filter to polish the look. All of those could have been utilized to help reflect a cheerful and blooming teen-aged character.

Same thing I can say for the two princes. Tony Yang is a good looking actor and I first saw him on Lady & A Liar. Damn! He looks very bland and boring so far. Make-up artist and costume designer could have been of great help here. Or probably he just doesn't look good in historical costume? Maybe, but remember the actors played their younger selves. Really the EDITING crew seemed to be bums in this drama. The crown prince's face appeared to have just gone through diamond peel. And the emperor seemed to be perspiring profusely as his face looked moist every time the camera focused on him. I'm glad that they opted for a more realistic look but this is the time that filter would have been of great help. I dislike overuse of filter but in these first few episodes I advocate the excessive use of it since the characters are young. So they have to be de-aged.

Am I glad they chose this actor for general instead of a fair-skinned one? Yes I am. I don't particularly find him handsome but he's oozing with hormones and has a great on-screen presence. I saw him first on Tribes & Empires and I was impressed with his acting. A general's skin in the olden times is sun-tanned due to constant activity outdoors. And I'm also glad the make-up artist didn't use the pearly white palette on him as it would be distracting. He is the kind of actor that you can imagine whisking you off your feet, slam you on the bed and ravage you with pleasure.:O

Why can't governmental affairs or politics and entertainment be separated. Let artists be artists and flourish…
Can you imagine if Chinese film industry don't have this rigid kind of censorship pressed upon them by their gov't - more greatness can be achieved. As an outsider I already enjoy their films and TV series. At times though with disappointment on how the story ends or goes and I can't help wonder if the creators were constrained. It can obviously be the answer. I read some articles that Turkey is going through some kind of censorship with the current gov't.

Title Son of Hero
Innocent until proven guilty. This kind of "she said he said" case is very difficult to determine unless there's indeed a concrete and irrefutable evidence. Too bad - I'm not Chinese but I find him to be a good actor. I've only seen him three times on screen. But his portrayal as a Yiqu king on The Legend of Miyue was so good. He has such a charismatic presence on screen. Same thing I can say on Ban Shu Legend.

This is actually good. I stumble on this on Youtube sadly it's one of those series with unfinished English subtitle. I hope they'll continue. It seems they're currently focus on The Legend of Bao Zheng which turned out to be good as well.
