I think he pulls it off just fine.. However, I agree with you on the ear pulling.

Those shorts look like they're trying to be as cool as a Utilakilt and the boots prove it.. He is dressed in a couture interpretation of a Scottish landowner on his way to get some work done. It may be silly, but silliness is nothing new in the world of high fashion. Considering where he is I assume he was dressed by Dior or perhaps given a dozen pieces to choose from. The thing is he's not just an Idol. He's a professional model. Being such he has to be able to present an outfit far more outrageous than this. This is nothing. Come to California. Visit San Francisco or Hollywood. This outfit will be barely noticeable.

My impression was more that he is just enduring the situation he is stuck in. Then I indulged in the idea he and ML 's mom got together.

That's a very common response to dramas for me. Happy ending but no time to enjoy it.
