The portrayal of the fl is explained in the first 10 minutes of the film. The scene in the nurses office and narration are awkward and to me like forced exposition (Film making experience here btw.)

There's very little titillation in the film and sex isn't shown at all.

I would say this kind of film exists because the producers and director want to show a difficult and uncomfortable side of human nature that most people don't even think about.

Synopsis doesn't portray the emotions and psychological confusion that the siblings go through.

The entire point is that they can't marry.

That all makes a lot of sense. To be honest I hadn't thought his motivation in that way. I want to respond more but forgot my glasses 🤓 so will continue later.

PS, thanks to translator note on Chinese dramas I've been seeing how much wordplay there is in
the Mandarin language. It's pretty interesting and I am grateful for the thorough translation.
