A compelling female and male lead with good performances
I’m enjoying how the drama is unfolding and the chemistry between the female and male leads is undeniable. The female lead is incredibly beautiful and her character is quite strong, which I appreciate. However, I’m not a fan of her way of speaking at times, her voice distracts from scenes that are meant to be serious.
As for the male lead, LYN portrays his character very well. His performance is engaging and one of the main reasons I’ve continued watching the drama.
I wish the storyline leaned more into the political aspects. Some parts feel a bit childish which creates inconsistencies in the overall tone. Still, it’s an enjoyable drama with solid performances and strong visuals.

A true gem in Xianxia, faithful and stunning journey
This drama is a true gem in the xianxia genre, focusing entirely on cultivation without the distractions of unnecessary romance. It follows Han Li’s journey from the mortal realm toward immortality, telling the story faithfully and smoothly, with no filler or dragging moments. The cinematography is stunning, beautifully blending CGI with real environments, almost like stepping into a living painting. Yang Yang perfectly portrays Han Li, showing his transformation from an innocent but clever young man into a skilled, intelligent, and formidable cultivator. His growth feels natural and believable, and he captures Han Li’s quiet strength, sharp mind, and determination with subtle yet effective acting.
His performance is balanced, never overdone or underplayed which makes him a pleasure to watch.
I especially enjoyed the fighting scenes, the fight isn’t just about raw power, it highlights Han Li’s quick thinking, resourcefulness, and precise control of his abilities. Unlike many xianxia dramas where battles are mostly flashy hand movements and CGI effects with little emotion, this drama brings real tension and meaning to its action scenes.
If you’re expecting a historical romance, this drama isn’t for you. And if you rate it low just because there’s no romance you like, then you’re missing the point. The story is clearly about Han Li’s journey to immortality, focusing on his strength and perseverance without distractions. But if you’re looking for a quality xianxia drama, this one is definitely worth watching.
The Immortal Ascension stands out as one of the best xianxia dramas in recent years, and I truly hope it will have a season 2.

A heavy and emotional tale of love, revenge and destiny.
Feud tells a story of love, revenge and fate. It follows two people caught on opposite sides of a long-standing family grudge, despite sharing a deep connection from the past.As the story unfolds, secrets, betrayals and difficult choices gradually come to light, pushing the characters through cycles of pain and emotional turmoil.
What I appreciated most is that the drama doesn’t just focus on romance, it also explores themes of duty, sacrifice and how the past can shape a person’s future.
Some scenes were truly heartbreaking and a few lingered in my mind long after watching.
Bai Lu delivered a strong performance, capturing both the sorrow and quiet strength of her character.
The overall atmosphere felt heavy but meaningful.
But the beginning was a bit slow and confusing and it took time for the plot to become fully engaging.
The characters felt trapped in a repetitive cycle, hurting each other without ever having honest conversations. The romantic chemistry between the leads also felt weak.
The CGI was underwhelming and some costume choices didn’t quite match the tone or setting of the story.
Anyway, Feud’s not an easy or light watch but it does offer depth and emotional weight for those who are drawn to more tragic narratives.

Slow-burn political drama with a rushed ending.
The Princess’s Gambit starts strong with striking visuals, elegant costumes and a slow-burn political plot that immerses me in a world of quiet strategy and emotional restraint.Liu Xueyi delivers a performance full of depth and charm while Meng Ziyi’s female lead is portrayed as intelligent and composed rather than overly emotional which I appreciated.
The palace intrigue is handled thoughtfully in the early episodes with tension building through strategic dialogue and power dynamics instead of constant action.
It definitely feels like a drama that respects its audience’s intelligence, creating an immersive and emotionally engaging atmosphere.
However, the drama begins to lose momentum midway.
Some subplots feel underdeveloped and the romance lacks the chemistry needed to make key scenes truly impactful.
Although the aesthetics remain appealing, the close-up-heavy directing and stiff camera work in later episodes make the visuals feel flat after a while.
Unfortunately, the ending feels rushed and leaves several character arcs unresolved, which is disappointing after so much careful buildup.
It’s a decent watch if you enjoy strategic storytelling and slow emotional burns.

Great chemistry but a not-so-legendary historical drama
I quite enjoyed Legend of the Female General overall, especially because of the undeniable chemistry between the two leads.Their interactions are engaging to watch and their scenes give the drama a certain charm that keeps it from being dull.
However, despite these strengths, there are aspects of the story that left me disappointed.
The biggest issue for me lies in the way the female lead is written and portrayed. Considering her backstory, I expected a character who carried a sense of gravity, intensity and inner strength. Instead, the drama often presents her in a much lighter, almost playful manner, more fitting for a romantic comedy heroine than a legendary general.
The overall tone of the story also misses the epic, larger-than-life atmosphere I was hoping for.
The drama isn’t without its redeeming qualities. The chemistry between the leads genuinely carries the show, making their relationship a delight to follow and perhaps even overshadowing some of the weaker elements in the script.
For viewers who enjoy light romance wrapped in a historical setting, this drama can still be an enjoyable watch.
While it may not live up to its full potential or the expectations but it has enough charm to keep you watching until the end.
