Well, the thing is one does things for oneself. For example, I don't want to hurt others because I don't like that. I don't like hurting others because to me is also hurting myself, because of my empathy. To put it in another perspective, when one has panic attacks, one usually is advised to distract oneself, to maybe even think in things that make you calm. KT is just that something that centers her, but she is the one that thinks of him in that moment, she reached out, she could very well not have done it as it's been shown in the past.
The scene she said she is happy she held back it's actually pretty good to me, the perspective in what you see it does matter though. To me, she is associating holding back with feeling good. So she'll be motivated to hold back in the future. As she doesn't have a level of empathy to be punished if she doesn't hold back, it's good she is finding another motivator for it, it's her way of navigating that disorder.
She is getting better with her own energy, KT is just a motivator, but she's doing all the work herself. For example, as someone who suffers from an anxiety disorder, I have motivations for doing therapy, like being able to assist college without destroying my mental health. I don't know, for me that's a common thing. She wants to get better because she wants to stop being lonely and be happy, and that for her translates to be with KT.
Best episode, hands down. All moments were heartwarming. KT gave ST the space to be the big brother he is, and he took it. When he was the one that asked him if he had eaten I got teary eyed with something so simple as that. And the scene with the three of them walking together? PERFECTION.
Ah, I really don't even want to know about the mystery even though I'm curious lol I don't want them to suffer anymore... but MY and ST need to face the butterflies, no more running away... I also wonder how the drama will approach her mother, they are clearly hinting at her being truly messed up in a very harmful way for others (if she is even alive, which it sure seems like it, and part of me wants her to be punished legally for killing the brother's mother)... I wonder how they'll approach such a topic. Humans like monsters do exist after all.
I loved this episode. It was pure joy, and progress has been made on every aspects. The brothers could have a…
I personally think that she was really successful in achieving a healthier coping mechanism, counting to three and reminding herself of KT seems to center her. You could say that's because of KT but it would be wrong, it's because of her, she decided to do it. Just like if a therapist can help you find a healthier way to deal doesn't mean THEY are doing it. It takes willingness and self-awareness. Now, her urge to protect herself in that way... well, I don't know if you can completely erase something that's so ingrained in your brain from so many years, but you can recognize the urge is wrong and stop yourself, just like she did.
While I wait a WHOLE WEEK, can someone recommend a drama?? (love dramas like extraordinary you, age of youth,…
Mmh, my recommendations would be The Legend of the Blue Sea, Healer, Story of Yanxi Palace (this is a cdrama, it has lots of complex characters, twists and different kind of relationships between the main characters) and Across the Ocean to See You.
my question is how did Park Ok Ran knew where MY lived??
If she was a fan of the mother then she could have very easily known as MY's father had been a famous architect too, I think that him building that castle for his wife had been news at the time. But I also suspect that she must have read the doctor's notes somehow, if not I'm pretty sure she's been overhearing a lot of conversations.
In that hospital there seems to be a serious lack of privacy concerning patient's therapies.
Maybe i havent read enough comments but why is no one talking about KSH's single tear drop when he turned away…
I was too caught up in being mad at KT for torturing himself over and over again with the same behavior tbh but KSH is such an amazing actor. I'm really glad he chose this role. Everyone in this drama is delivering their roles so well, it's insane. I hope a lot of recognition comes their way.
By this point I can't even describe how MY owns my entire heart. I find myself always on her side. She's so beautifully human, heartbreakingly so. It just kills me how I can see the loneliness suffocating her and how she has finally let herself fight it off, she's trying so hard to reach that surface and breathe.
At a point, I got reminded about a line in "Encounter" where the FL had talked about how it was hard going back to being alone after having a friend, so she tried not having friends at all.
Also the whole situation with Juri... I lowkey expected some owning up from Juri tbh, MY has understood and learned that what she did was wrong, you can tell by how she talked about the issue to KT... but won't the drama address how Juri kicked MY to the curb the moment everyone else started being her friend?
Frankly I wasn't happy with how the brother's reconciliation scene was laid out , let alone how barely was I emotionally…
I was pretty mad, tbh. It was so unhealthy, but it is a step forward as KT apologized for what he's been feeling guilty, and the preview showed he finally will try to correct this unhealthy behavior both brother's have toward each other. I'm excited for that.
If it really gets confirmed that patient Park Ok ran is Moon Young's mother and she really had plastic surgery…
I don't think it is. The father said himself that he's killed her, unless in his crazy state he confused KT's mom for his wife and killed her, which COULD be, but even then I don't think Park Ok Ran is the mother... all "hints" going to that direction in this last episode just kind of confirms to me she is just delusional, maybe she truly believes she is the mother, who knows... but I'm still leaning onto the actual mother being dead.
maybe the actual toxic relationship is gang tae and sang tae's relationship
It is, they need to put some boundaries, both of them. ST is kind of better at putting those boundaries for himself, while KT really sucks at it. They are doing a lot of harm to each other unnecessary, and it's a shame because they care about each other so much... they can totally talk these issues out. It's all about building trust and being honest.
I'll never shut up about the use of the lighthouse to visually represent the emotional connotations of that scene. Never. Please, someone give this director an award. He deserves it.
How does it keep getting better? This episode was done so well, my heart hurt for everyone, they really are showing you every single perspective.
I more have issue with the comical way they are choosing to handle the mental health aspects of the storyline.…
I respectfully disagree. If the manic storyline was used just for laughs why did I cry watching it? That ending shows that it wasn't used just for laughs, it was portrayed that way, in my opinion, to show contrast amplifying how over the top and senseless it can seem to other people and then BAM, you see the person's pain and then they repeated the scene of him telling the story and it was done with a heartwrenching tone to it because now we have a little piece of insight we didn't have before.
You are not supposed to understand people with mental illness... You should accept them, but not understand them...…
Totally agree. Understanding isn't condoning at all nor saying it's healthy. If my psychologist couldn't understand why I find it hard getting out of my house then how would they be able to help me? They would just say "then go out" because to them is something easy to do, but they can empathize with my fear even when they don't have it because they have found a way to understand it so they can help people like me. Since I began therapy I found that every one of my issues has a root both in nurture and biology... my fear of socializing has to do with both my brain and the way I was brought up, so my "illogical" fear has its own logic. Therapy is about identifying those roots or stepping stones, they won't suddenly disappear, but your way of handling them will change once you are aware of where they are and how they affect you and where they come from... and to do all that, there has to be an understanding of it as a minimum.
Everyone has their own stepping stones of why they are who they are (even the most little thing can be explained either by biology or nurture), problematic or not, toxic or not, they are still the blocks that lead the person to where they are... as I understand it from my own not professional point of view, psychology is about understanding how that road was built, showing the person that road and help them to a road that hurts them and others less.
Nam Joo Ri is giving me " I *accidentally* fucked up someone's life up before and blamed everyone else but myself…
SAME to be honest. It's fishy how she asked MY to keep quiet about them knowing each other too... and I really didn't like how she tried to shamelessly extract information about the ML's problems from his best friends... an angel wouldn't do that, she would ask the ML herself and respect if he decides not to tell her
"It's okay not to be okay" this is the chosen name, the literal name is "Psycho but it's okay"... so if you don't agree with flawed characters that are not okay, then this drama isn't for you. I think that it was pretty clear from the very beginning and the writer couldn't have made it more clear this episode. She is who she is. I'm REALLY excited for this approach, I hope we get to see the story as the writer intended to tell it. Not everything in this world is black or white, nor it should be. There're lots of people with disorders that need to find their own way to navigate life, they have their own pace and their bad moments and that's okay. People are also allowed to find the good within her in spite of her disorder. She isn't perfect, it's pretty obvious, no one in this comment section is either. I've found that you can find in some people that seem completely "normal" to others different degrees of lack of empathy too, at least she seems pretty aware of her issues for what she's been saying out loud, so she is ahead from the people with a lesser lack of empathy that aren't aware of it or won't acknowledge it. She reminds me a lot of another deeply troubled character in literature, Shelock Holmes, and while he had very different issues from hers, he still was seriously crippled in some areas but also incredibly talented in others.
