The biggest issue I have with this guy is that he has plagiarized a lot of works.

Yeah I did not mean that it was a plot hole, I just dislike watching those scenes. People dying I'm fine with for example. But that particular thing is hard to watch.

Well I think that most of Jin Yongs male protagonists starts a bit "silly" and lose to the girl at the start. That being said I just watched Conodor Heroes with Hu Ge a long time ago but I remember his character being a bit weak at the beginning while his love interest tricked him etc.
I assume he was to shocked about the girl and not thinking it fair to use his martial skills on the beggars. Since he was decent 5 years ago he should definitively have gotten better by now.
