As someone who has not really watched any airing dramas on iqiyi before, even without the subscription I will be able to watch the episodes slowly or I need to sub?

Well instead of celebrating hitting a certain amount of views I believe Iqiyi uses "heat level" and that includes views and discussions etc. So when a certain amount has been reached on their heat level the lbfad cast made different promises they kept.

I have a really hard time with angst, I prefer less sad times xD So I feel that 36 episodes should be quite enough to get both happy and sad times and not drag.

I am just starting out now that it is on netflix :) But the first episodes seem more fun compared to the other xianxia I have tried watching.

They do break up but the reason for it have a very big impact on the story so you can dm me if you want a very detailed explanation. But the breakup is very short and does not really happen until ep 49 and since there is only 56 episodes it is not very long :)

Very slow burn :) It focuses more on the ensemble cast as a whole then just the romantic story between the leads.

Shao Shang is together with Lou Yao for around 10 episodes and then right before the end she is together with Yuan Shen for about 1 episode.

Ling Buyi falls at first sight. He sees her face for the first time in episode 6. They do not become a couple until episode 24 and it is after that Shao Shang starts to fall in love with him slowly.

I think Shao Shang was pretending to be stupid and not understanding how babies are made basically.

No toxicity but they do have a push and pull relationship for the biggest part :) Ling Buyi is a very scheming person so he has many reasons for the things he does.
