Secret Garden did get some success back then because there weren’t many dramas like it at the time. But if you watch it again now, the plot feels really boring secret garden

The reason it feels so similar is because Moon River also has that girl disguising herself as a boy storyline.
That scene where the actress is being treated by the healer and the male lead won’t let the healer touch her?
Honestly, it felt like I was watching Mulan all over again.
Moon River’s plot is basically a mixed bag — a little borrowed from that drama, a little from this one — just mashed together into one blended storyline.

Honestly, I even think Moon Sang-min looks more mature. He’s five years younger than Nam Ji-hyun, but he still looks older to nam ji hyun
Nam Ji-hyun is a ballet 🩰 dancer, and when she has time she goes to the gym and does Pilates workouts. Her body is perfect — she’s not skinny to the extreme like some actresses.
Nam Ji-hyun is a natural beauty and a non-surgery actress.
Smile lines can easily be hidden with filters anyway, and Ji-hyun would never do anything like that

Nam Ji Hyun doesn’t repeat the same type of roles when she chooses projects. Both Hong Eun-jo and Hong Gil-dong fit her perfectly — I honestly can’t imagine any other actress in her place.
The main issue is Moon Sang-min. If Yi Yeol had been played by an older, more mature actor, this drama would’ve been much more successful. Under the Queen’s Umbrella was popular mainly because of the female lead, in my opinion.
Sometimes I even think Hong Min-gi might’ve fit Yi Yeol better. He’s mostly done cameos, and this is basically his first real second-lead role.
What this drama really needed was a seasoned actor instead of Moon Sang-min — it would’ve gained way more recognition.
Also, since it’s airing on KBS, it’s kind of doomed to be underrated these days. KBS used to produce a lot of hit dramas back then.
To My Beloved Thief was planned for tvN in 2022 rumors, but it ended up being produced by KBS. KBS clearly made the wrong casting choices.
A lot of fans even say they’re watching To My Beloved Thief mainly for Nam Ji Hyun’s character. Moon Sang-min may have fans, but you barely even see his fans leaving reviews in the comments.

The K-dramas you’ve watched probably aren’t even half of what I’ve seen.
Nam Ji Hyun is literally called the “chemistry queen.”
She acted with Ji Chang Wook and Seo In Guk, who are 8 years older than her, and still won Best Kiss Award and Best Couple Awards.
She also worked with Lee Jun Hyuk, who’s 11 years older, and their chemistry was great even without any romance scenes.
In To My Beloved Thief, she even had strong chemistry with junior actors like Moon Sang Min and Hong Min Gi.
So how much do you actually know about Jihyun to be judging her?
Her nickname is chemistry queen for a reason.

If you think a drama will include those kinds of scenes just because the review says “they sell s*x toys,” you’re wrong. This is a Korean drama, not that kind of show
