Sorry, but those themes,FriendshipDevotionLoveThe show fails it.The strongest friendship is of JY and ES. But…
Like I said, everything is in eye of the beholder, I have watched Lee Min Ho only in Legend of the Blue Sea and it was a cute drama, but in the King he was way better, maybe it has something to do with a fact he played a king. :) I loved Kim Go Eun in the Goblin and to me she is of the most talented Korean actresses. Even if it is a RIP, in the end all OST music for K Dramas is similar, all the songs from King: The Eternal Monarch very were touching and lovely. :)

I have watched many K-Dramas and I did not have great expectations for this one, I mean, I never have for any drama :) and I was pleasantly surprised, especially by Lee Min Ho, he is not just a pretty face, in contrary, he was so charismatic in this role and his chemistry with Kim Go Eun, who is amazing actress just added to the final great product. I loved previous Kim Eun Sook works Goblin and Descendants of the Sun, which is one of my favorite shows ever and then came King: The Eternal Monarch, and I was swept by beautiful scenography and OST and to me, a pretty interesting story. I think everything is in eye of the beholder, I love traditional, cliche fairy tales and this was a modern fairy tale, I mean, you have a king with a horse :), maybe it was outdated for some viewers, but I have enjoyed it eminently and it end it all comes what people like or do not like and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. :)
I have read somewhere that fantasy is the ultimate genre to explore all those feelings and secrets of human heart and this show with Kim Eun Sook writing proved it. It was show about friendship, devotion, but mostly of love. For a long time I have not enjoyed watching a show like this one and it will always hold a special place in my heart, thanks to a beautifully written love story between the main leads. The main story is very interesting, with the theme of parallel worlds, devious villains, but what I loved the most is romance. It has been a long time I have watched a romance K-Drama like this one, where the main theme is this epic, fantasy love story and what is the most important, the writing was not shy because of it, in contrary, I had a feeling I was basking in that glorious feeling of an epic love tale. The main characters were not fazed how they felt about each other, they were lucky, they met and fell in love and it felt like a touch of destiny and they were grateful for that. There were no love triangles, no crazy in laws, no annoying unbaised misunderstandings, just their unconditional love and it was so beautiful, that truthful simplicity of their feelings and their unflinching will to fight for their love. The main actors Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun had an amazing chemistry and they portrayed their characters perfectly, their scenes were heart swooning and so lovely. I laughed and cried with them, which is always a good sign, that a show touched my heart. After this show I became a devoted Min Lee Ho fan. :)
The other characters with their stories, enchanting scenography and captivating OST were perfectly included in the main story, which resulted in one fulfilling K-drama viewing experience. :)
Great article. :) I love cliche tropes, I mean if it is cute or endearing, I do not mind it, but the thing I cannot stand is love triangle, I feel it is in the show, just to make more episodes, it is totally unnecessary and waste of time and I almost never watch romance shows were love triangles are the main point of a romantic drama. The second thing I do not love are misunderstandings, they are so annoying, like writers cannot make up a smart plot or exciting, so they go with the stupidity.
The 6th episode was the best, the chemistry between leads accelerated and the whole concept of their romance is swooning. :) Now when they are in love, we can expect to see the mystery part unfold and how they are going to save a kingdom from the Yi Rim.
I am really enjoying it, the story is interesting, I am a sucker for romance drama with fantasy elements, scenography and music amazing, but what I like the most are interactions between characters, especially the main couple, their love story has a potential to become a legendary romance in the world of K-drama. :)
I really liked the first two episodes. It has everything I love in the dramas, a great scenography, likable characters, unnerving bad guys, wonderful OST, heart fluttering romance, fantasy elements and interesting, mysterious story. :) I have only watched Lee Min Ho in The Legend of the Blue Sea and he was pretty good, but here he is so much, much better or just this role is more suited for him. Kim Go Eun is perfect for the role, she is one of my favorite actress, acting for her is so natural, like she does not even need to try it. :) They were great with the scenes of their first encounter and later interactions, he is like so happy and enchanted to meet her and she is like you are crazy :D and I liked how she toned down the attraction she is supposed to feel for him, we can only see a shimmer under the surface, which later will turn into huge waves. :) Cannot wait to see how they will develop the rest of the story. :)
The way he explained how he only knew love without looking at the person had me floored.
Yeah, it was so heartbreaking and the way he said that Ji Soo is a center of his world... I like the way the writers talk about his love, it is without labels, so refreshing. Mostly nowdays you have this interpretation what love is and nobody likes to see this kind of raw and honest feelings, they will say it is not healthy or smart, but people feel what they feel and everyone has their own path and ways how to cope with their problems and it is nice to see other presentations of love, loss and life problems, I love shows which make you think. :)
Sad for cutting down the episodes, but I still hope they will wrap it up in a satisfying way, it would be such a waste to destroy an amazing show. For a long time I have not seen a drama that talks about love, loneliness, messy feelings, hurt, unrequited love in this kind of way. I think Ha Won character is really interesting because of his 10 years love, it poses interesting questions, for how long can you love someone without any kind of expectations and when is time to stop or it is any time good time or it is something what people do not have a right to judge, you can feel whatever you want to feel, a process of excepting and healing is different for everyone. Also, the fascinating part of the story was AI device, I would liked if writers explored it more, moral dilemmas of that kind of thing, the thin and blurry line between medical help or just an obsession to keep a part of loved ones in your life or ,,a piece of your mind" like Ha Won said it. Beside warm and fluffy romance, beautiful OST and scenography, Han See Woo is a wonderful character, so real, refreshing, endearing and honest, no drama queen, just an ordinary girl, with a positive mind set and strong will, I like her trait that she will try, whatever happens. :)
Loved it, really interesting and exciting first episode, the action scenes were so well executed, they gave me goosebumps and Lee Seung Gi was brilliant. :) Cannot wait to see more. :)
Definitely goes on my list of all time favorites. :D It was such an amazing drama, touching and sweet, with a great character development and engrossing story. :)
Episode 7 and 8 blew me away, I am thinking so much but let me just dump some of my thoughts here. A part of me…
Totally agree, the show is such a nice surprise when it comes to story and actors. :) And I wanted so badly for them to avoid the love triangle , I hope he does not have a romantic feelings for her.
