From the very first episode, I found myself completely absorbed. The production is stunning, cinematic shots, rich period details and an atmosphere that feels both authentic and immersive.
Ren Jialun’s performance is a standout: mature, steady and emotionally convincing in every scene. I was equally impressed by the rest of the cast, especially the child actors, who add unexpected depth and humanity to the darker moments of the story.
The narrative moves with tension and emotional weight, keeping me fully engaged throughout. I can already tell this drama will only get stronger as it goes on. If it continues with the same level of quality, it’s easily shaping up to be one of the most compelling historical war dramas of the year.
A great start! First of all, I loved the opening of the series! So original. Dilraba is a goddess as always! I adore her. Chen Xing Xu is like fine wine. He keeps getting better, both in acting and appearance. The dark atmosphere is wonderfully crafted, with suspenseful scenes wrapped in creepy music that fits perfectly.
The plot is fantastic, full of mystery and touches of horror. It actually reminds me quite a bit of Twin Peaks from the ’90s. The opening OST is amazing, unique, almost like folk metal. And I absolutely loved the ending OST. A beautiful, melodic ballad.
I think this drama is going to be another major hit for 2025.

How much I feel you! Honestly, when I first discovered the world of K-dramas and C-dramas back in 2006, I was completely enchanted, totally hooked from day one. I just joined kisskh much later because I was bursting inside. I wanted to talk too! All this time I was like a little stalker, silently watching everyone else’s comments 😂
Here in Greece, our TV shows have endless seasons that drag on for years and in the end we just give up on them. And the amount of s€x… oh wow. They have absolutely no problem showing everything and doing everything, no matter what time the show airs. It’s literally s€x s€x s€x s€x 🤣 In this country, the only people having fun are the actors 🤣🤣
For me, I honestly don’t care about kiss scenes or bed scenes. Real chemistry doesn’t even need physical touch…
I totally agree. For me, they have zero chemistry and their relationship is a little toxic. Overall, they don’t seem comfortable with each other at all, to the point that it’s confusing whether in the bed scene they’re actually fighting or kissing 😂

In general, if a drama has a couple with chemistry and an amazing director, they can convey intense emotions without even showing a kiss. I remember in Amidst a Snowstorm of Love, all the little games between them. The way Leo Wu flirted, the way he approached her, had me holding my breath. Without even touching her, he made my heart race, so I can only imagine what she must have felt in that moment. And honestly, when they finally shared their first kiss, I wasn’t that impressed. Not because it wasn’t good, but because the previous moments had already left such a strong impression on me. The director and actors played perfectly with our hearts and imagination 😅

Exactly. I also put the blame on the director here. For example, in One and Only, I absolutely loved the chemistry between them with Bai Lu and the director managed to convey that emotion straight through our screens.
In Forever and Ever, the kiss scene after the rain, the way the whole moment was set up, their movements, their eye contact, was, for me, one of the most sensual scenes I’ve ever seen, even though we only saw the kiss through their shadows. It touched me.
I absolutely love kiss scenes in dramas. I wait for them like crazy. And listen, I know Ren rarely does kiss scenes and when he does, it’s usually a tiny peck like a shy elementary school boy. I accept that and I support him in everything because I really adore him as an actor.
But dear director… please don’t play with my emotions! You keep having him lean in, getting this close to her lips and then at the last second she pushes him away. At that exact moment my heart rate skyrockets, my nerves are shot, and honestly… my TV is in danger. 😅
I’m still at the beginning, but I’m already hooked! The story and plot are amazing. Exactly my favorite kind of drama. The male lead is not only gorgeous but also an incredible actor. He actually reminds me of a mix between Yang Yang and Arthur Chen 🤔 I’m definitely finishing it today 🥰

Since we’re talking about ages, I’m 48 but don’t tell anyone. It stays between us! 😂
Only 1 year old back in 2006, huh?
Okay, it was nice meeting you!
Byeee 😂

'Here it is, here it is! He laid her down, we're doing great, come on, show it to us... and then suddenly it was morning.
You two were FAST, guys
😂😂😭😭

We do not play with things like that! 🤭
I’m definitely finishing it today 🥰
