Example I give way more 7.5 and 8’s. Meaning I enjoyed it but I’m not satisfied with a few things. Did a have a good ending or open ending? Affects how I rate it too. 9 and 9.5 (which I rarely give) is reserved to dramas that check most my boxes, I love both leading actors, good character development, the plot development is great they don’t leave us guessing or with questions, well written, the chemistry is strong, makes me have reactions like maybe shivers, mad, cry, laugh etc etc, it’s not too fast paced or too slow. If the special effects are good and cinematography is good too. And let’s not forget that the genre and tropes are just right. Did a character died?
10 (I give once in a blue moon.) is all of the above but they throw a good plot twist like I gasp because I didn’t expect it at all.
Ps at the beginning I was satisfied with any drama and gave 9 and 10 like candy on Halloween. I’m a stricter now. I mean I have watch more than 1,300 dramas soo.

To each their own (meaning we all review and rate how we want Hahha.) but makes no sense to me.
It’s like me calling a restaurant okay but they have given me cold food or mess up on orders, service mediocre but give it a yelp high score: Or loving the food and service but give a yelp low score.
I would have rate it a 9 if it wasn’t for that ending. In reality both of them keeping quiet about their identity made no sense. Unless they really know how the people would reacted and kick both out of them of the throne, for treason. But I can’t imagine someone so powerful as an Emperor being control by an assistant like they did here. I mean they made the Emperor look like Shang Xian’s puppet. What SX said had to be listen to. But well besides the ending I like most of the drama.
Love the leading actors and the visuals omg gorgeous but I love when the main plot is detective work and solving cases that is sole about that. Or more focus on romance. Example Dream with in a dream was another one had all the elements I love but I dislike when they mixed Super dark concepts with comedy. Like the lead was in a fighting scene all cool looking amazingly hot, blood and swords and seconds later he is tippy toeing away at fast speed with dumb comedy background music. Like just give me Dark or Comedy, not both.
Sadly this trope was more focus on the cases and at least for me it got boring at times I was okay we get you are super smart miss, let’s move on. Maybe if it was a 20 episodes drama I would have loved it more.
This could have been higher on the rating but I dislike with passion when is a dark trope and they mix comedy. But besides that omg the cinematography was amazing at some parts it looked like a video game. I love the main actor the actress never been a fan this is my first drama I watch of hers but she did good. Bambi!!! Xu Dan I find her beauty mesmerizing and pair it with Riley!! The visuals!
So I was waiting for This to end to binge Watch it, seen shorts and I wonder what happen to the lead girl (short hair) and the guy that fake dated her last season i thought i saw like a thing there or even with the other guy that try helping her. On the shorts i seen its more of the new guy with every girl hahhaa
I have a confession to make. I started this because I thought it was a steamy drama hahhaa I mean come on I need a break at times from cutesy hand holding and hug dramas where rarely kiss. But even tho we get kisses here, the guy is like nope women stop touching me hahaha he is super cute and shy. So far I’m in ep 12 and I’m wondering if he has never done anything intimate? He almost runs away everytime she wants to heat up the moment. They try to tricks us like he was a big time player in the beginning.
So far I love every minute of it. I hope they don’t freak it up with dumb misunderstanding and break ups.
i always thought zhang yuxi was a bad actress. watching her now, i think it was her voice because her facial expressions…
I never like watching her for her childlike voice. Baby talk thing she does like Esther, Dilraba, Lu si and A few others. But I liked her here don’t know why hahhaa
The visuals!!!!! Both are so good looking, such pretty faces. The trailer so far looks great! I can’t wait! I rarely watch any of his dramas even tho I find him so good looking because they don’t pair him with actresses I like. I only watch one of his dramas (You are Desire.) , so I can’t wait to watch this.
I love Xu Lu but not even she could save this drama. This was just too long and boring. The romance between the lead started like 1/4 of the drama, their chemistry wasn't convincing enough. He had more chemistry with his ex who he dated at the beginning of the drama. Also why are this lead men always thinking is okay to be in their exes life even if they are married or in another relationship. He was very present on his ex life when she came back into his life.
Also this felt like it was filmed years ago but released last month, Xu Lu looks younger and also the actor. The format also looks old, I remember on older Chinese dramas, well in the modern times genre they had a lot of international actors and spoke a lot of english in the drama. They film abroad a lot too and not like todays cdrama where they go for vacations or they show an episode or two of them abroad.

Let me just add that the actor who played the youth part has to at one point play the younger version or sibling of Woo Bin.
