I think both this and NIF2 lack romance but to be sincere Chinese dramas and movies lack that. The may mention it or try add it to the story but the romance rarely plays out. Maybe at the end the get together but we don’t get to see it grow. Not a lot of kisses either mostly they hug. I seen two Chinese movies this week and no kisses what so ever and they were romance movies.
The only one I seen had a lot was Eternal Love with the younger actors.

I was watching but like you said is more political and I need more romance hahahah maybe that will come up later.
