I think TLI suffered from China's new rule of being capped at 40 epsisodes; thus, the entire series was mostly focused on the romance. ALP had many more episodes to encompass more stories about additional people.

The subs are hilarious in this one, "I'm glad you didn't kill the basketball" while referring I think to the FL. This is akin to the bodice ripper series that are put out where the FL suffers before forgiving the guy she is unable to stop herself from loving. For people who are offended, really, it's not that different from the typical Wuxia series like The Last Immortal and others where the FL suffers immensely from the actions of the ML. I guess every series can't be like Qing Qing Zi Jin where they work together from beginning to end or things will become stagnant.

Some writer's twisted script to make you watch a 2 hour movie where the ML goes through hell to answer the questions to save her just so he can watch her die afterwards ... and become a fireworks master, like that's supposed to make up for the death.

ML was great in his first movie. Hope he's in higher profile costume drama series going forward.

This is a good watch in between the longer series. Mao Xiao Hui from The Twin Flower Legend and
Chinese Paladin 4 / Sword & Fairy has a good part here. Hei Ze also has a standout part here.

I am as well. It's a mystery if the two of them are supposed to die to save her people that has something to do with the water. But the other sect lead who is a friend but doesn't travel with them acted like fate can be changed. So many mysteries yet to unravel.

They live all over the place in this series. Qi's people live in the sky for instance and have some kind of a connection to Bian's people, but it doesn't appear friendly, just an agreement they shared. Since Jinzhao took Bian's place since the leader of the sect thought she had a better connection with Jinzhao, Bian wasn't supposed to blow his cover as he watched over her, which is why he was punished. Bian mentioned he used the evil sect to destroy another part of the evil sect, plus I think he is also using the evil sect to further their purpose. I believe they can use those crystal's against Qi's people. I think Didact means he's the leader and people follow him.

It does start out a little slower than other similar series but it picks up really fast. I'm on episode 16 and a lot is going on at this point in the series.

You can skip the leads' sections as the princess has a nice growth story in this series. I like that the leads back each other up throughout and never lose sight of their goals but not every story line is for everyone.

...and then people would complain that she's too manly looking, lol.

It's funny to see him jealous of basically himself. He does look great in that mask.

I agree, it was not a great move to release them together and split the audience for those people who don't have as much free time and can only pick one series to watch. His last costume series was great and both of the leads, as well as the full cast are doing their part to make this one a success as well.

I heard 5 was skipped as the other stories were considered stronger. These are standalone stories.

ALP had 9 more episodes to cover the story. TLI, with less episodes, stuck more to the romance and story of the main leads. IMO, the rating suffered for not being able to flesh out the story more. It's a shame the limit is 40 episodes now and not 50. I rated it high and loved the story regardless.
