One of the most sloppily edited and scripted series I've seen in awhile. It's very choppy; however, you can still follow the story line. I watched for Merxat.

Agree, and there are several good relationships to watch in this series. The supporting cast is great as well.

You should watch it - best hot kiss of 2022 near the final episodes. The romance is definitely present. I often start skipping forward in some of the Xianxia / Wuxia series when they start lagging mid way through. I watched every episode of this series without the need to skip.

Brilliant in it's depiction of the brutality of the times and in the story. Better ending than the series. Both are very well done.

The tide is turning in his favor - about time...

As posted by another viewer, the last 3 episodes are a mess. It's almost like they ran out of money at the end and just slapped stuff together. There were huge gaps in the storyline. As an example: The story jumps from a couple of the ML's being captured with the fisher folk and held in an underground cavern, later being dumped down a long canal to an area where a supposed beast is set to kill the group. The next scene shows the group outside of the mountain cavern with a fisher folk mentioning the beast had been killed by the ML's. Aside from the issues near the end, I truly enjoyed the series and, thus far, it was one of the only "tomb" series I've been able to finish.

Well said. I hope he ventures out after taking this artistic path into consideration instead of waiting for things to change.

He gave a stirring performance in Heroes. Hope he gets more Wuxia, Xianxia roles.

There should be an outlet for blacklisted actors to come to the U.S. or anywhere outside of China to continue their craft when something unfair befalls them. Netflix streams a good amount of Xianxia/ Wuxia. Sigh, it's been over a year already.

@Arunika. I didn't think you were justifying his action. You mentioned you felt "heartbroken"; thus, I was just making my own comment from my perspective of his personality. I understand your side as well and still think he was the most compelling character in the series. I was actually surprised this series was so good. I wasn't bored - no skipping through scenes.

However, why is MZ even asking her that question. He schemed against Anran's family from the beginning, causing her Company to fall to the Royal Family. Her Mother died. Her father was saved after being set up and ending up in prison. MZ used her brother as a pawn to bully her into marrying him and power-tripped her the entire way. He was the most compelling character in the series though and really brought his A game to this title.

I lasted until episode 5 and then dropped it. There just wasn't enough there to hold my interest and there were so many other C-dramas to watch.

She calms down a lot in later episodes. The slap stick stuff kind of falls flat in the beginning but the plot takes center stage after awhile and the story gets interesting.

It's kind of refreshing from the usual copy-cat series. A little bit of The X-Files meets Haven meets Xianxia meets Republican era.

Viewers loved The General's Lady. I thought it was boring. They didn't rate Heroes very high. I thought it was a great story line, action packed with a unique OST. You should give it a try and see if it hits the target for your personal tastes.

Two lifetimes. In the first, everything goes tragically wrong for the FL. After her rebirth, with foreknowledge of her past life, can she see her way through so as not to repeat the mistakes of her past. This is basically what is described in the synopsis by MDL.

Also, Dylan's acting was top notch; however, I think part of the problem with his other series, Miss The Dragon, was that the costumers didn't know how to dress him. He looked pale and washed out in the other series. Dylan shines better in a darker color palette in my opinion and they def knew how to dress him in this current series.
