I mean, it could be the actor but since I haven’t seen any other of his work that I remember I’m giving the benefit of the doubt. The character being involved with those 4 females (I’m including his mother) couldn’t have been easy to say the least.

So he groomed her until she got too old for him (brings new meaning to “aged out”) and she was so psychologically damaged by then which probably led to her drinking which caused the accident and then she succeeded her prior attempts and succumbed on his birthday.
