Totally his character playing the system in order to stay at the hospital. He did have some real retrograde amnesia but played it up also because he wanted to stay with Fei Ni who he had liked since childhood.

Yeah too bad about ignorant attitudes back then but even the 1970’s in China was 20-30 years behind the world. Some ignorance lingers everywhere (meaning worldwide) even today.
This drama is definitely worthwhile to watch so give it another go.

I’ve somehow ended up watching 3 of his dramas at the same time.
I had once started when Destiny Brings the Demon but put it on hold. I had waited for all episodes of Love Story in the 1970’s to drop before starting.
After Love Beyond the Grave captured me I restarted those haha.

I don’t subscribe to Disney+. I’ve had Hulu for many many years and now D+ sends content there since acquiring them so I just even wait to watch if there’s a delay or I’m pleasantly surprised when dramas drop at same time.
