I was thinking that in the first episode Song Xiao Yu also doesn't like Nan Feng the actor. She also has misunderstanding about him. We also see he is wearing those shades all the time , which is like a mask. The actor's manager was asking the producer to change the script coz it didn't make sense to her with regards to the character. This is also similar to how Nang Heng is perceived by everyone.
So when this Song Yi Meng came into this "dream" she has two misunderstanding, one is of the character and the actor playing. She is also the only one who knows how the plot unfolds but everything she has been trying to do has changes its course but not her perception of Nan Heng. All she can think about is her looming death, which she thinks cannot be avoided. But the plot has already changed, she just cannot see it coz of her perception, and we all know perception is not reality. What is worse is that she isn't very smart in handling how the plot unfolds coz her brain is just dead set on her death. This is despite her having the upper hand in all of this. When the variables changes, so will the outcome but she refuses to see past it.
Honestly all the main characters are dumb while the side characters notice everything. Even the 18th Prince bodyguard who hardly says anything says it all with his expression. Argh I can't bear the misunderstandings between all of them Nan Heng, General Chu, Song YiMeng. To top it now we have the sister, whom i liked coz she is not keen to marry anyone who doesn't meet her intelligence but now even she's getting annoying but the most annoying is the 18th Prince, somebody needs to smack him. BTW the actor who plays the 18th prince was in New life Begins and he was a lot muscular but they must have made him lose weight. I really pity these actors having to fit into these unrealistic body standards by the production and entertainment companies. Lastly, the Emperor is a piece of sh!T3
I saw this show on Netflix and gave it a try but it was boring for me. I didn't see any chemistry between the leads. The cute love story between Yun Yi and Shu Jing Ran was more interesting that the leads. The plot was so-so. To me and this is my personal opinion, the most interesting character was the Emperor. Even the acting was good by the actor. Another thing, I feel really bad for all these actors, they are so so thin. I don't understand the standards impose on them. I just feel pity seeing them. I saw some post that the producers want them to be so so thin coz they have to wear layers of clothes, but they still look super thin. I do hope the industry improves their stand on this.
I think some people are missing the central point of this drama is corruption in all forms. Here we have the powerful families committing fake currency, money laundering, possible human trafficking, gambling, abuse of power, manipulation and all the jazz. The ruling family is being controlled by the rich families but at the same time they are also part of the corruption. This is similar to how the politicians are controlled by the billionaires who use them to do their bidding but at the same time they also get a cut. We have an emperor who wants to break this cycle but perhaps unaware his own are backstabbing him. Then we have Chancellor Shen who doesn't play by the rules but doing for the greater good while seeking revenge for his family. His priority is about his survival in this ruthless circle. Then our princess with her own agenda and mind games, also for her own and her brother's survival. Ultimately this is a losing game because there will be many victims along the way. There is a saying that one should never be too good in life, and this rings true. I mean you cannot fight fire with fire, you have to fight with something worse. Just my two cents.
I keep thinking about his marriages with the Meng and Qin which is to keep the two families tied to the Crown Prince and Second prince, but the Duan is another powerful family as well? I just think something is off with Concubine Duan. Shen Za Yi is the cousin to fourth prince, so all these cousins are basically running the court, which is something the Emperor wants to break coz he doesn't want the affluent families to become powerful. These families are also corrupt In come our Princess as a peace treaty cum spy and the mystery of the painting, which I think will be about land disputes between the two kingdoms. So everyone got an ulterior motive.
The reason why Nan Rui is favoured by the Emperor is coz he is an idiot unlike Nan Heng, who even though grew up in the cold palace and abused still coming up on top not only in terms of intelligence, wars, army and court politics. This is why Nan Heng is kept at bay while Nan Rui gets more leeway. Again the Empress murder is sus, and probably create the rift between the Emperor, Nan Heng and General Chu.
This show is really interesting, LXY is the ultimate CDrama dark prince and Meng Zi Yi, did like her work in Blossom, which was definitely an unexpected great show of last year. Shen Zai Ye is ruthless red flag and doesn't spare wanting to kill his wives nor does he care for any of them. But if I had four scheming women with ulterior motives, I would also be merciless. He is literally cornered by all four of his wives. The first one is quite obvious because she is a Meng, the second one is probably the most transparent, so you can rule her out, but the third wife is too quiet, as such the most sus for me. Then we have our Princess, who has been calculative since the beginning albeit for survival. I don't think he likes any of them but definitely met his match with the Princess. Shen Zai Ye is also working with someone else in the court, I am think probably the Mu Wu Xia coz he seems to always be at the right place and at the right time. I guess we will see what unfolds. BTW the way LXY was handling them prawns and cooking them, goes to show, man knows his way around the kitchen.
This drama is between a parody and a satire wrapped up in a comedy of errors. I do think someone had made Nang Heng and General Chu into mortal enemies coz if they do stick together, they will become powerful. Song YiMeng is definitely falling for Li Shi Liu, which is so ironic coz she hates Nan Heng. Great show, very different from the usual trope, and I do like a good comedy. All the cast have done well so far, even The Matrix fight scenes are awesome.
This drama went from Xiao Jing Shan villain origin story with Captain America Civil War to The Avengers Infinity war then The Avengers Endgame. Just like that even though HRY changed the past, the future remains uncertain but what is meant to be will eventually happen, which is Karmic fate. Secondly everyone was like saying why was Li Mo and Long Yuan so uptight that's coz the heavenly boys are just like their boss, all nerds and complete straight line. Lastly the message we can gather is that the Almighty will always forgive us if we are on the right path and the heavens will take pity on us. All in all Nice drama :) Oh yes I forgot communication is the key to end all misunderstandings.
The villain origin story of Xiao Jing Shan shows you how people can get radicalised and hell bent on revenge. In the real world, we would call him a terrorist coz he wants blood for what happened to his innocent family. Even HRY went rogue after BJS and Canglei Palace for what happened to her, only difference she did not kill innocent people, so that makes her a resistance fighter while Xiao Jing Shan is a terrorist feeding off the sins of the people. Interesting isn't is it? This drama shows you how we justified HRY quest for revenge but we might have a different opinion on Xiao Jing Shan. Both lost their loved ones and suffered coz of the rules set by the so called good guys. But everything isn't black or white. But as someone who has lost a child, I can tell you that it can drive you crazy coz you start questioning everything in this world. The acceptance of the loss is long and hard process but what is meant to be will be, what is not, shall pass.
I have a feeling somebody wants the Infinite Steel, HRY said if BJS can't handle it, she also can coz they are two peas in a pod, then suddenly the Heavenly Emissary was interested. The fact that the hidden hands have used basically black magic against these BJS & HRY coz those two sus guys are dead and cannot be reborn or resurrected. So only someone who can awaken spirits is behind them and the spell book is also black magic. So if we put the pieces together it is not just one person, it is actually a group of them, someone from the demon side, someone from the heaven side and someone from the sect. They're all in it together to bring BJS & HRY down so they can kill themselves and take the Infinite Steel, Remember no matter how many times, HRY tries to kill BJS, he is still powerful. My guess the heaven one is next to BJS while the sect is right next to HRY as well. The demon I am guess the one who possessed Zhang Suan? Someone wants power, and we all know absolute power corrupts absolutely. Perhaps the Heavenly Emissary wants the Infinite Steel to crown himself as an Empryan? Whoever is pulling these strings have to be one step above these Gods, What do you guys think?
There is a hidden hand working to keep these two away from each other and not pass their tribulations. The death of their child is also deliberate because this kid will pose a threat as he is the son of two powerful gods, who eventually will become more powerful. The two people BJS wants to find out about hold the key to whomever is behind this all. Then there is the murder of the Qing Yang which is put upon Long Yuan to further instigate the war between the sect and the palace. Whoever is behind this is not only trying to bring the sect down but also the Canglei Palace. Qing Yang has been a voice of reason trying to iron out the feud between the two. Although Long Yuan is a pain but he is also righteous, clearly he didn't kill Qing Yan, so we have to think who stands to gain the most from this all. Even Ling Er has been put to a deep sleep by a gift from her father, this is also another misunderstanding created. The answer is right there but we cannot see it, the hidden hands have a mole in the Sect and Palace, that is why they are able to intercept them at both ends. So who is the culprit?
In our world, we all know how our leaders constantly pit us against each other by using race and religion. The old British way of divide and conquer is the most effective method to stir conflicts and wars. This series is a representation of our modern day world with all the "feuds" and misunderstandings going on. So the culprit here is the "benevolent" Empire stirring feuds to keep the common powerful people a bay by distracting them with feuds. This is because the powerful and rich will never want peace between people, especially those whom they know can overpower them.
These whole chain of events are part of their love tribulation. The whole idea is for them to get over their feud and settle their misunderstanding. The loss of the child, the revenge and him facing his karma are all destined , now the question will be how will they come out of this winning? Because if they can get past this, it would mean two things, they can go back to the way they were or their child is alive somewhere. I would again like to reiterate that there is another plot twist to all of this, which is the illusion, him losing his powers and getting the heavenly sect to go all bonkers is all a ruse.
So HRY created an illusion to teach him a lesson on what it is like being a mortal. This is why we can ZS step into and out of the real Songhe county and the illusion created by HRY. In the preview he goes back to see the past, which I guess will show how she suffered with their child, whom I am going to say died. But I am still going to stick that these two are in it together coz they are against all the heavenly lords, the heaven and Emperyan to seek revenge for what happened to them and their child.
You know a drama is good when they start going deep on the philosophical discussions.
Neither is wrong with the perspectives, but meddling in worldly affairs will have consequences. Also we human beings by nature are easily swayed and ungrateful, we must bear the consequences of our actions. This is why there is the decree by the Gods and destiny. She is compassionate but her actions may not be met with kindness, this is why God has given humans free will. How we will repay kindness will vary from human to human. I am going to guess, HRY will not receive what she gave and this is what BJS was trying to make her understand.
I have a feeling that Shang Guan Ri Yue is a bit sus. Also I think now more than ever HYR and BJS are also in it together to lure out the culprit coz I would be damn pissed if my kid died and despite being an immortal could not save him. Now that we see her in the past as a mortal, this is when she must have the child and him not being there must have created consequences. Clearly their kid died, otherwise HRY would not have been that pissed to kill him. Anyway let's see what unfolds.
haven't you noticed some symbolism. like BJS and HRY have similarities to adam and eve.the mortals and the Mengs…
Most definitely, the series has a lot of religious connotations and representations. It is not just the Chinese religions like Taoism, Confucianism but there's also the Abrahamic indication especially with the title the Feud, which goes back to Adam & Eve as well Prophets. Eventually the fallen angel will be one from the heavenly realm who has caused the disruption & misunderstanding.
It would seem that HRY is a rebel, who has disrupted the balance in the world as well as between her and BJS. I think the reason BJS keeps disappearing is coz he has to offset the disruption HRY is creating by meddling in worldly affairs. The Mengs are the catalyst that brought her to rebel even further especially with Meng Chi questioning if the immortals and Gods knew of people's suffering why they let it happen. I think this is a question we all who belief in a religion constantly ask if God knows everything why didn't the Almighty stop it. Here she is trying to change the order of how the realms of Gods/ Deities as well as the world works. We have decrees and destiny, so what is decreed by the Gods cannot be changed but people can change their destinies through various ways. HRY is getting emotionally invested in worldly affairs and this is the beginning of the feud between her and BJS, who keeps asking her to let go but we can see she cannot.
So when this Song Yi Meng came into this "dream" she has two misunderstanding, one is of the character and the actor playing. She is also the only one who knows how the plot unfolds but everything she has been trying to do has changes its course but not her perception of Nan Heng. The misunderstanding between Song YiMeng and Nan Heng is another cliche of this satire I am presuming but it is getting a bit tiring.
Another thing, I feel really bad for all these actors, they are so so thin. I don't understand the standards impose on them. I just feel pity seeing them.
