QX is the kind of heroine we deserve, she is smart, capable, compassionate, has great foresight, analytical, sweet, caring and her scheming as well as her cunningness makes her the hero of this series. They say behind every successful man is a woman, this is true for WS but QX can hold her own without him. She was born the lead, and she did it her way. It is nice to see a good female lead who for once isn't a pushover or helpless, QX can save herself, she may not be physically strong but she is and thinks on her feet. Totally love this character and kudos to the actress for portraying her so well.

I think his insecurities stems from the lack of being in a relationship with a woman, just look at his relationship with his mom and grandmom, it is very formal. Unlike WY who probably knows how to handle and be around women. This is first time he is experiencing all these emotions and feelings. There is also the fear of losing a loved one, hence the insecurity. If you think it is more childlike. QX on the other hand had a more secure upbringing despite not having a mom, her aunt, dad and grandfather cared for her, hence the maturity. If anything she brings stability and security he needs.

I could care less about Lady Yulou, all her schemes have backfired, even WS has caught on, which is good. As for WY, yes wrong of him to fantasize about his bro's wife, some ppl said it was just portrait but in modern day it is like if he had in appropriate pics of her in her phone, so not cool. But WY has been keeping his distance and not giving into his feelings. For him opting to leave is also noble of him, so I will give him that.
Also I don't think WS reaction was over the top, it is in line with his character, his things he doesn't like anyone touching it but he was still trying to protect WY,
I must say they did a good job casting the girl who played the lookalike WY's concubine coz at a glance she does look like QX.

But the best part was the Master Zhen Shi with WS scenes, so funny. I can't believe WS brought the whole ancient artifact just coz he wanted to outdo Zhenshi. Can you imagine if QX said she liked the pyramids hehehehehehehe.
Then WS getting all intimidate by his muscular body , had me cracking so much. I guess the scholar is just hiding his 'real' martial arts abilities coz he doesn't want to offend WS. Their encounter was just hilarious.

Yes he is famous in SEA, I think he is American.

The FL Yoshine's acting it too cute. She is so animated without being cringe. The series is proper live action, totally love it.

I see a match made on hell between Lady Yu and the new Lord of Liangya. When Lady Yu looks straight into the camera she looks diabolical. This kind of shot is usually done in movies first time seeing in C-drama, Though I have seen this kind of shot in HK dramas So I guess the romance and fluff stuff are over, as the darks clouds are emerging.

I just wanted to add the four Generals say a lot without saying. The way they all turned to look at him coz WS wanted to find his wife's lantern was funny. The whole maze to get himself a shield was also funny. I did pity him coz he was hoping a thoughtful gift, probably no one has ever given such a gift.

Yay! already on Netflix but only 5 episodes, the most recent episodes will only be available in June.

Cute series, really animated no pun intended. Reminds me of Nagatan to Aoto especially the visuals. I like how Japanese series showcases food, it show how much of a foodie they are.

I did not whether to cry or cry more at his cluelessness. Dude sent her away on a romantic star gazing opportunity. Even his generals know he is slow. This a stark contrast to Bi Zhi who risked his life to get his wife some plums. Oh well I suppose he is learning, at least he is daydreaming about her.
The episode were fluff for the fans but this means danger looms ahead.

Yeah they Weis swore to stay away from the Qiao ladies only to fall in love with them. So funny both bash brothers are smitten.

She definitely the right Empress.
Also what I like about her character is that she is all boss lady but she still full on wife duty. Kind of reminded me Margaret Thatcher, who used to go back and make dinner for her husband and kids,
QX does not shy away from him like she is all over him and his business, which WS doesn't seem to mind. I find her a bit realistic in the sense she knows her place and she knows when the step up and when to back down.

I must say I really really like QX, she is smart, cunning, calculative, manipulative, decisive, observant and brave. She does not miss a beat when it comes to the political game of chess, She can read people and the situation clearly. Every move is done with precision. In my experience dealing with politicians and powerful men especially old farts is that you have to let go in order to reel them in and you have to let them think they are the ones making the decision as they are the wiser. It works every time coz when it comes to power it brings out the hidden character of a person, and oftentimes I have seen how it changes a person. The same can be said with wealth, it really does change people. People always assume that power and wealth are blessings but in fact they are tests given to us. You can see how QX uses her power for good while the WD & WQ wants control instead of doing what is best for his region and their people. This is where Lady Yu has failed coz she is only thinking about becoming an Empress but not about actually governing. She is neither smart nor insightful, all she does is scheming.

I must say I found the scene with WY and his grandmom really touching. Him pledging his allegiance to Wei was nice but we still don't know what his bio dad has planned. But it was great of WS to hand over the governance to him, which is something WY has wanted to prove his worth.

The Wei bash bros who swore they will never be taken in by the Qiao clan ladies have lost the battle, both WS and General Wei Liang are smitten by their ladies. At least General Wei Liang makes the effort to court XT while our bro WS is clueless even with his wife admiring him up-close. Bro is all business and no candle light talk. I mean QX is literally throwing hints and herself but bro is busy being all coy. But I think our boy is still wrestling with his emotion probably feels guilty liking her considering the past.

OMG the fake marriage proposal might turn into reality with the groom changed of course. General Wei Qu unintentionally made his move against the Perfect's daughter and she too seems to reciprocate, Our lady QX already took note and General Wei Qu called the Perfect Father LOL! Boy works faster than his boss.

I like how the Generals who are the most trusted confidant of WS have embraced QX and trust her. They have seen how she is good leader not just a lady of the Wei house.

Lastly it it clear the feud between the Wei-Qiao is an inside job with the help of either from the Chen or Qiao or Liu.

After episode 17 what are your favorite scenes. For me the when WS first laid eyes on her and QX caught in the middle of the Wei and Liu soldiers,
The first time they saw each other with WS lifting the curtain is so simple yet so romantic of love at first sight depiction.
The QX caught in the middle was a great moment coz it was a game changer of how the enemy came to the rescue, her choice leading to the Wei-Qiao alliance, her running into WS's arm and not forgetting General Wei Xiao who blocked the arrow aimed at her even though he was going to kill her just minutes before. Such a significant scene.

All in all I love this series, it was definitely worth the wait.

Dude fell in love with her at first sight, he is just in denial coz she is a Qiao. Yes it started off with the sword and arrow now is pulling her closer. But the denial won't last for long with her looking at him with those eyes, dude will give in hehehe

It could be the prophecy was misread that the empress would the one who becomes Lady Wei. From what we have seen, all the things have or are falling into place as soon as QX came into the picture with the marriage in place.
So the Chen (Who I think was behind the betrayal of the wei-qiao feud) could have thought if they can get the girl who is supposed to marry into the Wei, then the prophecy of the Empress will come through. So by eliminating WS's elder brother, Lady Yu became available, so the Chen swooped in.

I think she likes WS but was betrothed to his brother. I guess since they grew up together there would be some feelings for each other but not sure if WS shares the same. But you can see WS clearly drew the line after their meeting. Given his personality WS is not interested much in philandering or women getting close to him. He only extends that privilege to his wife.

Yup, she is full of herself for sure and willing to even kill for it.

So we can gather WY is a grey character, wld not harm either WS, his grandmom or innocent ppl ( since he didn't tamper with the grain). He is being played by his awful dad whose henchman is poisoning him against the Wei. Now we know he is not born from a maid but actually born to WS;s aunt and the Chen guy ( who kidnapped and raped her). I guess his animosity is more personal like he feels that he doesn't belong and people don't see his worth.

Lady Yu reminds me of this quote from Macbeth when Lady Macbeth said " Look like the innocent flower but be the serpent under it", she truly embodies that.
She is also playing WY coz she wants to out do his bio father who is eyeing Baizhou. I like how she was so overconfident about her relationship with WS and grand aunt but it backfired. The whole ploy fell flat even with her poking about the Qiao feud with the Weis.
The only person stupid enough to fall for it was WS's mom--what a stupid woman!
Also Lady Yu is most definitely poisoning her husband coz she doesn't love him, she likes the Wei brothers hahaha.
She is also so convoluted believing she is the chosen one, LOL!

The best part yes QX will never harm innocent people, she would rather sacrifice herself or like WS said may poison them but never will she ever harm the people. This girl is the one who is born to be an Empress not serpent Lady Yu. The look on her face when WS stood up for her, was amazing. This is why our girl can't help herself , she was getting all shy being so close to him. Too cute. Another thing I love about her character is that she is always composed and calm, she never loses her poker face. She may be weak and looks meek but she is not a fool who you can take for granted.
Oh QX calling him husband was epic, everyone was equally stunned while WS was touched and even had smile on his face.

It wld seem she was engaged to WS 's elder brother who was killed, so she hold that grudge against the Qiao. She wld have thought that she wld be married of to WS after the bro died, but it seems her parents whisked her off to the Chen guy. So again she holds that grudge which is why I think she is poisoning him slowly. T he jade pendant belonged to WS's bro, so that's why they have half and half.

WS missing jade didn't prolong or cause the intended misunderstanding coz QX already is wary of WY. This is why he went and told her abt the WS reading her letters.

That letter scene was so funny, even the Wei Generals were afraid of QX's reaction and told WS to sleep in the study. QX confronting him was so funny, he was trying to avoid it but she kept on asking for an explanation but he ran. When he tells her that no one would marry her, that only he would and she was like there were many guys who wanted to marry her. This dialogue is so cliche even my parents used to say to each other LOL!T he great Lord of the Wei is afraid of his wife LOL! that he was willing to sleep at his cousin's place.

This WY is indeed indeed attracted to QX and WS is aware but WY throws him off by mentioning their family feud. But WS is still wary coz he noticed the maid he brought from the tavern looked like his wife. If you noticed how he stood In front of QX during the formal introduction coz he saw WY was trying to flirt with his wife and our girl went all awwww. seeing him protective. This scene reminds me of when Tantai Jin did the same with Yi Xi Wu during her sister's wedding when the creepy prince was trying to be all creepy.

Now the scheming involving the Bianzhou's people against the Wei-Qiao, it is clear WY loves his cousin but he probably wants to create the discord between WS and QX so that he can have her as well as perhaps rule Wei. Lady Yu has came to assist WY in sowing more discord, leveraging her past relationship with WS but I suppose she would not have anticipated that WS and QX feelings for each other. Also notice how QX did not react all jealous instead she was suspicious of Lady Yu's arrival and her real intentions. This is what I like about QX coz unlike most FL she can see through ppl decisively not emotionally.

It is indeed a battle of wits involving the clans with a lot of scheming behind the scenes. It is also worth mentioning how the Qiao sisters are more intelligent that the men. Qioa Dan was able to read the hidden message in the letter.

FL was given a map by her grandfather, if I am not mistaken her map is different from others, it had more details and it is the only one of its kind. There are several families who are ruling and claimed the territories. The Weis and Qiaos have their own, and the heart of this Panyi, which was given to WS as dowry. He understood its worth coz it is not only the centre but crucial for the canal project which can give water to other territories as well.
Boya is small but a significant size of land, like in the previous comment is serves as a buffer but also gave Bi Zhi and her cousin sister a claim. Since Bi Zhi and Qiao Da eloped, having a rule over a land will give them a status, recognition and respect while pacifying the elders in the Qioa.
FL thinks long term coz eventually the Weis and Qioas are in laws and with Boya also under their belt it technically belongs to their families. This is why she asked WS to send supply to Boya with soldiers to give the illusion that the Weis and Qiaos are together. Even though WS was upset abt Qiao Da laying claim to Boya but he also sees the bigger picture.
