Zhan Zhao was my first superhero since my childhood time.

How happy I was when I knew they created a new Zhan Zhao series, and how happy I am that as an adaptation, the screen writer and production team still followed most of the original story.

How pleased I am that this Zhan Zhao still wore his famous red robe, still benevolent, righteous, upholding justice, handsome, and gentle.

And yes, Zhan Zhao indeed avoided to kill unless it's very necessary. But I think being injured by Zhan Zhao can be considered as half crippled.

37 episodes full of fighting scenes, fast pace, really focus on the story, more problem-solving, less to none misunderstanding.

All kinds of emotions are perfectly shown by the actors. I kinda pity some villains because of their background story.

After watching 4 episodes, I think this is the strongest character that Chen Du Ling has ever played.

I do really hope, since it's only 24 episodes, they won't 'destroy' the rest of the episodes with some unnecessary scenes or whatsoever.

They indeed butchered it down badly.
And it's also kinda heavy romance series.

That's true, even if the script sucks, he still act well.

Tiramisu with pure dark chocolate powder at the bottom. It's really bittersweet ending.

He was good in The Imperial Age, portraying the Yongle Emperor tho.

The romance, the journey, the characterisation, more or less is not too far from the novel itself.

If I may defend Sikong Qianluo, she grew up as a pampered young lady, fully spoiled not only by her father but also by the whole city. But at the end of the series, she grew up and became slightly mature although still held her fiery temper [which was inherited from her deceased mother].

The romance is indeed not the focus of the whole story but it does exist between those 2 pairs. I think the author wanted to emphasize that sometimes there can be mutual attraction between 2 very opposite personalities.

As for Wuxin, his portion in the series is not much different from the novel. He had his own personal agenda, to see his mother, ask some questions, and perhaps took her away [if possible] so he didn't fully assist Xiao Se on his journey. Even so, he had a deep bond with Xiao Se and Lei Wujie, especially with Xiao Se.

Basically the focus is Xiao Se's journey to defend Beili, cleared out his uncle Langya Wang's name and uprooted the real mastermind behind his uncle's death.

He was accompanied by his closed friends and confidantes in which 4 of them were his guardian as well.

I think since the characters were mainly teenagers in between 15/16 to 22/25, their temper, personalities, and behaviours were in line with their ages, and family background/education.

So, the romance, the presence/non presence characters wasn't made to attract audience or whatsoever, but everything followed the novel as close as possible.

Donghua version really showcased this statement.

Feng Shao Feng's version of Di Renjie is really good. I haven't seen any Di Renjie's better version after those old goodies movies about this character.

I hope there won't be any unnecessary romance throughout the series.

If you often watch Cdrama and notice, those 2 senior actors often act in the same series and their characters [whatever the series is] retain the similar silly behaviour despite their wise and magnanimous appearance.

Old Baili Dongjun act as young Baili Dongjun's father in DY.

So sorry, I think my reply a bit out of topic but I do like those 2 senior actors. Sometimes so silly and funny as well. 😬💐

There are actually 2 sides of opinion/comprehension about this series.

One side [the majority] believe that everything was just LJS's dream [based on when he had a car accident and was in a coma]

Another side [the minority, including myself] believe that everything was real, really happened in their life.

So, after the game was purified, everything returned to the normal world before the game exist. Everyone didn't retain the memory of their life inside the virtual game world [except Ling Jiushi].

Ling Jiushi felt devastated of losing Ruan Lanzhu and his Obsidian family, so he worked and spent 50 years to rebuild the Spiritual Realm.

Once he succeeded, he decided that he wanted to live and stay inside the Spiritual Realm with his Obsidian family.

That is a bit of my understanding, hope it helps ease your confusion

The Spirealm is indeed not a BL Drama.
It was a danmei adaptation [Kaleidoscope of Death] but was never made or produced as a BL drama.

Even the description on MDL has explained that it's Censored Adaptation of Same-Sex Original Work.

She was injured and dying inside the door, and she supposedly died if she left the door.

It was explained on the Lady in The Rain scene [after they helped to bring xiong qi out of the painting] that someone managed to save Xiao Ke's life but she could only live and survive if she stays inside the doors.

The old/original version was 78 eps/20mnts duration, then it was repckaged into 38 eps/40mnts duration.
There's no difference for the content only additional opening and closing song at the 38 eps.

The Donghua is indeed more exaggerated it but some details that was cut from the series are shown in Donghua, for example Battle of Tianqi city.

TBOY is also my most favourite among 3 series [novel, donghua, drama]
