It is not Xie's effort in discussion, but the way that it is shown presently. Yes, this movie reports historical events, but there are either neutral ways to do it or biased ones. Not only this movie is Chinese propaganda, but it is also Chinese communist party propaganda, judging by the last sentences shown before the credits at the end. The funny fact is that the flag of the Republic of China (ROC) is hoisted in the movie (the red and blue one with the white sun), accurately and inevitably. This country is now relegated on the small island of Taiwan, but it is the true original Chinese country after the Qing empire. The People's Republic of China (PRC) is just a dictatorship made up by some impostors through a coup d'etat and lots of blood. Also, when these militaristic movies are made in a democratic country–say USA–, they are more effort than they are worthy; if it is a dictatorship to sponsor them, they are plain scary nationalism.
