- Though these two historical dramas are about two countries (Korea and China?!), their period setting is quite in the same term (late 19th and early 20th century - colonisation war, nationalist movements, you know there are a lot of huge events happening here).
- Similar main themes of revolution, war, human fates under the wheel of history.
- Their aesthetics are quite alike too (yellowish nostalgic colour tone, big epic scenes, etc.)
- Fun fact: both have placed a part of their plot in Japan setting, given how Japan heavily influenced this period. So get ready to hear some odd Japanese accent dialogue since (I guess) there are no native actors in the films

- Both of these dramas are adapted from novels by the same author, Liu Cui Hu.
- They share the same topic of urban life. Explore people's desires, mental states and adulthood when living in a metropolitan setting.
- They focus quite a lot on the romantic lives of the characters and through that delve into their most personal inner selves.
- The unique subjects that Liu Cui Hu develops: tricky, playful and against-stereotypes characters; flirting is an act of romance; self-value is the most important value;... There are more you can look for while enjoying both dramas.

Differences:
Fake It is easier and safer to enjoy, but In Between addresses affairs and messy relationships, so be aware.
