Thank you for answering my question. I agree that JY's abuse is his form of love towards Pio. He doesn't know how to show his love. He's torn.
However Pio is a pin cushion of sorts - he accepts all punishments to him even though he didn't do anything wrong. He's trapped between his mother and his grandfather.
As far as Jaein, she needs to get out of the picture as soon as possible. She is like Velcro towards Pio and finally he had to tell her he didn't have any romantic attachments for her. Good for Pio!
