Tear-jerker
I've watched Zhou Yu Tong in Nothing But You and didn't realize that it's also her in this drama until I Googled her name. She looks so much prettier with long hair and she portrayed Zhuang Jie so well. Her acting was so natural. Li Xian also did really well. Their chemistry is 10/10!Lots of lessons about love, life and death in this drama. There's not a single annoying character or negative vibes. But because it touches on death and some characters ended up dying, you'll need a box of tissues for this one.

Great love story
My first time watching Zu'er and took some getting used to. First four episodes were bland and initially didn't like FL. They've only just met and she didn't really have any feelings for ML but she insisted on marrying him, which didn't make sense to me. Things started to make sense by the fifth episode and it was then that I understood why everyone loved this drama. FL was smart and wise. Misunderstandings were always cleared up immediately and I love how they handled their conflicts maturely. Loved how Wei Yan didn't turn out to be an enemy like it usually does in other dramas with the same kind of character. I kind of got confused at the last episode when after killing Liu Yan the scene was suddenly transitioned into the future and felt like they tried to squeeze it all in because they didn't want to extend to another episode. All in all, a unique and great love storyπWas this review helpful to you?

I'm sorry but I didn't like it
Started this with high expectations considering how people were raving about it and some even rewatched it 7x. First 10 episodes were good but went downhill from there. The reason I would continue to watch this is solely because of Arthur Chen. He was the only one carrying the whole drama. Female lead was such a weak character and I disliked her. While watching in Youku, I could read comments about her and some people liked her and some people didn't. The whole story was too long and just felt dragging. Found myself fastforwarding and cringing from some too-sweet scenes where ML just goes out of his original character and becomes the loveydovey loser dude. Sorry but I dropped it.Was this review helpful to you?

Almost liked it
First few episodes were not stellar but because of the female lead's unique character and my fetish for strong female leads, I proceeded to watch and found it entertaining in the first half. Inconsistencies started piling up halfway through. I mean, how could an amazing couple like the Princess Royal and General Ban have produced such a stupid son like Marquis Jingting? Also, how did the female lead become a more responsible, smart and sensible person under a father like that? Same parents but her brother is just as useless and stupid like their father. And the most laughable part is that the emperor wanted to promote someone as stupid as Marquis Jingting as the Deputy Prime Minister! Futhermore, I hate dramas where there's a clingy obsessive second female lead/villain. As typical as it gets, of course the villains always get away with evil things they do just to make the show longer. And so I decided to drop it.Was this review helpful to you?

Splendid indeed
Really loved Gu Jinzhao, so smart and sensible. She had a good head on her shoulders. The way she handled Ye Xian and how they became great friends and how she protected and took care of Lan even after everything that happened was really admirable. Little emperor was also a delight to watch. Could a kid really mature and become wise that fast? π Loved Ye Xian's story and character. He made a lot of people cry. Although the ending wasn't that satisfying and felt like they jumped from one scene to another, it was forgiveable considering how good the story and characters were. Was this review helpful to you?
Nice
Story is interesting and I like how the male lead is so smart that it almost seems like he can see the future! I also like Jing Yi and their friendship/teamwork. My only complaint is I wish they could have chosen a different actress for the female lead. She doesn't seem to match with Wang Zi Qi. She looks so much younger and more like his sister than a girlfriend. They don't have any chemistry at all. Honestly, Zhao Yao Ke seems to fit the bill better. They should've casted them the other way around. Was this review helpful to you?

Could've been better
I really enjoyed the drama up until the 26th episode. Shiyi went from being a naive country girl to a wise lady who seemed like she could read minds with the way she could predict how her enemies would act. Then comes episode 28 when she suddenly lost her wisdom and she actually believed Lingyi killed her mom. She told an Ou guy she'd only met a few times about her wanting to find the killer when she suspected it might be the Ou family's doing but she never thought of seeking her husband's help whom she was supposed to trust as much as he trusted her when she was framed. Plus, Shiyi has the habit of making promises and telling people around her not to worry, confident she could handle things, and then she fails. At the latter part, the writers needed her to be stubborn about quitting Xianling Pavilion and for Lingyi to be a doormat spoiler husband so they could stretch the drama with more misunderstandings and make it longer, which honestly was boring already and I skimmed through just to finish. It wasn't even shown how Lingyi prevented her from being executed. It's a case of writers underestimating their audience and treating them as dumb. Was this review helpful to you?

Typical detective drama
Twenty four episodes were too long and I kind of just forced myself to finish it for the sake of wanting to know how it ends. Some of the cases are related to the main case but not all of them and I wish they could've just gotten rid of those extra cases which were irrelevant. As in any police drama, the policemen are incompetent except for the main lead. There are some little details that are pretty annoying like Luo Fei's bangs. I wish they could've given him a better hairdo. And why does he always carry an umbrella like a cane? He's not handicapped nor is it any kind of secret weapon, which would be better if it is. Detective Ye who is supposed to be a veteran acts more like a rookie who makes a lot of beginner mistakes. Xiao Man keeps shouting "Stop, don't run!" whenever she's chasing someone. as if the villain is dumb enough to stop running just because she says so. In summary, everyone is a dumbass except for the main lead and the villains. Was this review helpful to you?
Surprisingly entertaining
The setting might be in ancient China but the premise can be applied to modern times. This drama shows that greed and the abuse of power transcend time. No matter what era we live in, there are greedy people in government who abuse their power to trample on the weak and helpless in order to enrich themselves. Kudos to the writers who found a light and entertaining way to depict this reality without being boring. A lot of other romantic comedies turn out to be childish and slapstick. This one is fun and light without being corny or ridiculous. It's a bit lacking in the romance department though. I didn't really feel that Xioa Ning was attracted to the princess at all. It was more of the princess who pursed him rather than the other way around. Aside from that, this is an enjoyable drama to watch. Perfect for unwinding after a stressful day. Plus, there are learnings on how to run a successful business too.Was this review helpful to you?

Worth a watch
Despite other people's bad reviews, I liked this drama. Admittedly, it's not perfect and you'd have to overlook some of the unrealistic scenarios like:1) Surviving a jump off a cliff and not suffering a miscarriage at that! They didn't show how she survived the fall and how she was rescued at all.
2) Qimin being alive after being stabbed to death which they also conveniently didn't show how and who treated his wounds and took care of him plus he was being sold as a slave when his Royal Surveillance guys could've rescued him from there in the 1st place and no need for Qingkou to rescue him
I liked the fast pacing and how the villains were caught early on and not being dragged out for long like a tiring endless battle in some dramas. For me, Weilong and Angela looked good together despite their 10-year age gap which doesn't show at all! I like strong female leads and Quiluo is definitely it. She's levelheaded and realistic, but she did succumb to a moment of weakness which resulted in her getting pregnant. I like how the characters weren't one-dimensional; they weren't all good and yet weren't all bad either (except for the Chancellor π ). The most annoying character was the spoiled brat Princess Qingkou. I swear, most dramas have this kind of character! Lastly, Tiger Hu's song was so good it made me have last-song syndrome.

Another masterpiece from Gu Man
Although it's a bit low budget, the story, music, cast, and acting all made up for it. It's a heartwarming and feel-good romantic story wherein both the main leads are both gifted and excellent characters. I like how misunderstandings were immediately addressed and not painfully dragged on like in usual dramas. Lots of sweet moments, enough for some viewers to comment that they're getting diabetes! πWas this review helpful to you?
One of the best dramas ever
Came across this while searching for a Leo Wu drama to watch and didn't expect much since i've never heard anyone mention it before. It's mainly a story about the early days of esports and how it evolved into a national sport. It shows the struggles of those who were into esports early on and how they didn't give up, paving the way for the development of the industry. At the same time, it's a story about friendship and family. It's a beautiful story of how two people from different time periods came to have a beautiful friendship with the writers brilliantly weaving the past and present together seamlessly. It's both funny, heartwarming, and definitely a tear-jerker. This drama is a hidden gem!Was this review helpful to you?

The best drama I've watched
I've watched more than a hundred dramas and this is one of the best! If there's a score more than 10 stars I would definitely score this higher. Love both the main leads who have a good head over their shoulders. Story is flawlessly written and coudn't find any fault with it. No typical cold guy syndrome or hate turned to love cliche story. Everything just flowed smoothly into place. All the bad characters got what they deserved. Villains killing each other was an ingenius idea. Hope there will be more dramas like this. Was this review helpful to you?

Worth watching
I watched this mainly because of Johnny Huang; he has a lot of good dramas. True enough, I wasn't disappointed watching this but rated it a low re-watch value because there's no point in rewatching when I already know who the villains will be. At first I didn't even think there would be hidden villains at all! What I liked:
1) Loved the main lead's character - smart, good fighter, upright, warmhearted without being a pushover
2) Raises awareness for the harmful effects of drugs and human trafficking
3) The surprising twists in the story
What I didn't like:
1) There is always this one character in dramas that talk too much, is silly and loud and he is present here
2) A loophole with villains wearing body armor but the police are not? Also, they don't have guns to protect themselves with.
3) The main lead's family being the family of a police officer do not care about their safety at all and act carelessly. They would all be dead and used to threaten the main lead in reality.

Worth watching
It's a bit similar to The Tale of Rose, albeit a faster-paced one. The speed with which she changes boyfriends is faster too and is quite disturbing. But at least in the end, she did make the right choice and maybe learned from her mistakes. Inspiring drama especially for young women. Was this review helpful to you?
