Hi there I enjoyed reading about your thoughts on todays episodes and there are points where I agree with you…
Also, I think Youngro's brother is doing his compulsory service, while Hyeryeong's guy looks like a career soldier. It makes sense that someone who chose the military for themselves has much more freedom than someone who was conscripted.

The two characters have nothing similar apart from being North Korean.

One is a straightforward soldier with nothing to hide, whose only objective is to help his love interest.

The other one is a spy on a mission in an enemy country, in constant danger and need to deceive everyone, including the girl he starts to like.

Their situations are like night and day. So are the personalities of the two characters. It has nothing to do with the actors themselves, it is a difference in the writing and directing.

I don't think bullet shot his shoulder, it just brushed pass.
Exactly. Can't post screencaps on mdl, but if you watch the scene where Youngroo first dabs disinfectant on the wound, it is not an entry hole, it's a long but fairly shallow mark where the bullet grazed him but left.
It is also consistent with the oval hole on his tee.

Curious to see how SK reacts to the next 3 episodes. Can character development in later episodes "erase" the distortion…
I can tell you already: the same people complaining will continue their tantrum. They will refuse to watch and just spout their own narrative again and again and again.

Jtbc wanted to meet with the groups who filed complaints against the drama, to clear up the misunderstanding. One group agreed. The other group declined - they don't want to discuss anything, they want to nuke Snowdrop, period.

They try to scare away people who are uncertain about watching Snowdrop.
I'm not sure if they are people who love to boast about being morally superior, or fans of other dramas/actors trying to undermine the competition. Just how sad their lives must be, that they spend Christmastime creating fake accounts to bash a drama?

I don't think that NSA girl know the students are faking it
Also, he is a spy, and if he is really the one the NSA originally chased, then he killed many people. He might turn, and might be given a redemption arch, but a happily ever after would be probably too much considering his past.

How about we watch the drama to find out? The two episodes that have aired already are only 12.5% of the story.…
From what I heard, jtbc is right wing.

But actually, both political sides are using this drama to gain brownie points with their sympathizers. Right say it is beautifying North Korean spies. Left say it is beautifying the NSA. Neither side gives a damn about what actually the drama is trying to say, they just parrot their own propaganda blindly.

I really get what you are saying.Let's ask though, what is the angle of the writer? He must have known somehow…
100% this.

So many people read something online, took it hook, line and sinker, and now go around guilt-tripping others, without watching to check whether they were told the truth or distorted facts.

And then others have already decided what the drama is about and try to force it into that mold whether it fits or not.

How about just watching it without prejudice, and not try to analyze the endgame or the political message until at least half of the story has aired?

As per her character description, she joined to find the man who jilted her. She might be hotheaded, but that's not the same as having a stomach to watch torture.

She doesn't see the blood for the same reason Kye Boonok doesn't see Suho when she is prancing around in the bathroom. It's a drama...

Two reasons to depict the NSA as useless:
1)same as for the police usually being useless idiots in dramas - if they were competent, the story would be over in a single episode
2)their main job was to frame and torture innocent civilians, they suck at handling real spies

The only ones who think they know where it is going, are those who decided it is right wing propaganda without even watching a single minute.

do you mean ANSP?Then that becomes confusing... by doing that, it would mean the ANSP and the ruling party, actually…
This plotline is completely fictional, as the disclaimer says at the beginning of the episode.
Was there possibly some cooperation between the two dictators? Who knows, after all they were birds of a feather... but that is for historians to debate. For us viewers it doesn't matter, since this particular story is not presented as documentary, or fiction based on a real story, it is 100% the writer's imagination.

Of course Suho didn't say "hi ladies, I'm actually a real spy" to the girls. He was on a mission and wanted to survive. That does not mean that he was part of the democracy movement, if you refuse to see the difference, I can't help...

No, the NSP does not wants NK spies to be in the country so they can frame students as such. Why would they need that? They can frame whoever they want, as whatever they want, without any need for an excuse.

They need cooperation from the north to kidnap the professor, who is a prominent member of the opposition think tank, and take him to NK to fabricate evidence they can use against the opposition.

There were multiple political parties in South Korea in 1987. There were five candidates for the elections, representing the Democratic Justice Party (the ruling party), Reunification Democratic Party, Peace Democratic Party, New Democratic Republican Party, and Unified Korea Party. You can look up the 1987 presidential election on Wikipedia.

Suho never ever pretended to be a protestor, he pretended to be an ordinary student. He has absolutely nothing to do with the democracy movement, the last thing he wants is to get in the spotlight of the NSA as an activist.

The girls jumped to the wrong conclusion, when they found an injured man in their room the same time the NSA barged in, claiming they are after a spy. Since they know protesters are always framed as commies and spies, they mistook Suho for one of those falsely accused victims.

But that is not the same as the drama portraying a spy infiltrating or leading the democracy movement.

The NSA is not bringing in spies to join protestors, they bring them in to do their dirty work, i.e. kidnapping an important person from the opposition, take him to the north and use him to fabricate fake evidence that the opposition is paid by the communists.
The irony of blaming the opposition and the student protesters as being in cahoots with North Korea, while in fact they are the ones doing it, is the whole point of the drama.
