Nope jing was never the main lead it had always been zhuanxu. Tonghua (the author of the novel) herself confirmed that zhuanxu is the main lead in terms of the main political plot whereas jing is the main lead in terms of the romance plot.

If it wasnt for kris wu and his demand for his own storyline then this would have taken less time to shoot not 8 whole months. What a waste if it was to reshoot with this new ml then it would take less time coz they can scrap the unwanted storyline of his.
