Valid critique. It's the writing. The scriptwriter followed the original source for the most part, save the whitewashing…
Actresses are type casted in one dimensional roles because most them (the ones who are fl any) are nepo babies who can't act. Complex characters are beyond their abilities when they're cast mostly for their looks and youth....and who daddy is. Stop blaming female viewers.
No one has ever given me a satisfying answer as to why the government would ban a bromance show but not a BL novel.…
I rarely check back here so this response is overdue, but why even respond to what I wrote when you didn't even read it. My response to a point you made "if it doesn't have to go through scrutiny..." All shows, whether BL or B/G romance, go through the same review boards through the same government agencies. Yes you can google that. I said that in my other post which you didn't bother to read.
Is this hated because of the story or because the lead actress is a few years older the LMH? I know some people here have a fear of seeing older women and prefer age gaps (FL has to be at least 5 years younger lol).
No one has ever given me a satisfying answer as to why the government would ban a bromance show but not a BL novel.…
Let me address a couple of the points you made. It's not that I don't believe you, but I feel the issue isn't as simplistic: 1) Chinese tv shows scripts go through multiple thorough inspections by several government agencies. They must pass inspection in order to be filmed. Studios will not take a gamble and film a bl/bromance story on the chance it may or may not air. They will not waste so much money or the staff/actors precious time on something that could be shelved forever. There's simply no logic in it. 2) In regards to what happened to Xiao Zhan, I personally believe this wasn't the government going after one actor. If that was the case, why not go after Wang Yibo as well, or the writers, directors, producers. Water armies, paid shills, destruction of reputation and livelihood screams personal vendetta. Xiao Zhan's popularity shot through the roof and it made someone very unhappy. They likely wanted to do the same to Wang Yibo, but Xiao Zhan was the easier target as he had less economic backing at that time. 3) A small point I want to make is: these shows are targeted toward a female audience. Why would the government worry about corruption of the youth from them? One could argue they are worried about boys watching these and "getting corrupted" (I hate saying that). But these shows attract mostly a female audience. Sometimes there's more naughty subject matter in m/f romance shows than BL. Sorry for this long essay. I hope I didn't put you to sleep lol...

How would it cause loss to their agencies? If anything their popularities will go to the extreme. Young people love these shows and they are the target demographic and willing to spend money, and there is a lot of money to be made. I still maintain the belief that this is tied to competition between wealthy people within the industry who have a lot of money and influence.
I will start this show after it ends. I have a question. Why did it take 2 years for this show to release episodes?
No one has ever given me a satisfying answer as to why the government would ban a bromance show but not a BL novel. Makes no sense. My personal belief is there are powerful groups within the industry (and their nepo babies) who don't want to see shows and actors not connected to them succeed.
Poor Fang Kai Yi 🥺 My favorite sympathetic villian. The way you gentled your demeanor whenever Shen Yi came by. The line "I really want to know what your starry sky looks like" you spoke to Shen Yi had me crying in a corner. The height difference alone is 🤌 lol. My man you had me on my knees. I hope they bring you back for season 3.
BG are more popular than BL, there is no reason to target all the BLs for competition
They don't just target BL. These nepo babies target any show that becomes a hit. Here's one. Legendary Life of Queen Lau. A BG show. Any show that's a hit that doesn't feature the nepo baby of the year gets targeted. They made up some crappy excuse, paid some water armies, and got the show effectively banned. And I have quite a few Chinese friends who told me that they don't like most of their tv shows because of repetitive story lines, wooden spoiled actresses and dry boring actors. In fact shows like Minning Town are what they enjoy rather than different iterations of legend of fictional princess.
I said this under Immortality and I'll say it here too. In my opinion, the biggest reason shows like this aren't airing is industry competition. Probably producers or very wealthy actresses/actors of BG shows with connections who don't want to see this show succeed above their own. BL shows are more popular than BG shows (with a few exceptions) and those who have a hold of the entertainment industry don't like it. There is a lot of bribery and blackmailing going on. I doubt you'll be seeing any BL shows any time soon. But I hope I am proven wrong.
I don't know why people don't believe me but I keep saying it's industry competition y'all. This. I hate how people try to stigmatize the BL genre by pretending that it's only for straight women who fetishize…
I absolutely agree with you. I feel like people are in denial about who is actually behind all this. CCP this CCP that. China is communist in name only. It's a very ultra capitalist society. They will not ban anything that will improve it's revenue. They have entire red light districts in China and people are telling me the government is worried about a few men making googly eyes at each other and how that might corrupt the youth?
https://jingdaily.com/boys-love-bl-dramas-china-opportunities/This basically answer your question if CCP/ NRTA…
Thank you for taking the time to link this article. But I must say I'm still not convinced that it's not industry competition at this point. How do we know competitors are not the ones bribing the NRTA to recommend a ban on BL shows? There are some incredibly wealthy people within the entertainment industry in China. How do we know they are not going around bribing or blackmailing government officials to put into law that BL shows should be banned? Production companies are still making them are they not? Why would any company make a tv show that it knows will get banned because there is a law against it? And then of course the banning of these shows gets pinned on the fans. Very convenient to blame the fans of BL shows isn't it? How do we know those so called overzealous fans are not paid water armies (likely paid by the same industry competitors) pretending to be fans and acting up to make true fans look bad? As cheerychums89 said, BL shows are very profitable for China. Why would they ban something that makes them an incredible amount of revenue?
I know everyone here is saying that it's the CCP/NRTA that's blocking this show and others like it from airing, but I have yet to see tangible proof that that's the case. If anyone has that can you please link it here. As far as I know these shows have already been reviewed and and passed censorship correct? So what is stopping these shows from airing?
Lets be realistic here, with a few exceptions, most BG romance dramas aren't that great (don't come at me ok I said there are exceptions). We all know highly anticipated BL shows do very well both domestically and internationally. These shows make a lot of money for the production companies that produce them. And if the actors are not well known than it catapults them into stardom.
Some individuals within the entertainment industry probably don't like that (like producers, investors, actors/actresses who's mom/dad own casting agencies or production companies). Lots of money exchanges hands here. Just look at what happens to danmei shows that end up airing and become successful. They tried to ban The Untamed by fabricating a scandal for one of the leads. They succeeded with Word of Honor by destroying the life of one of the actors. Now Youku has suspended Justice in the Dark at episode 8 with no warning or explanation (I don't believe any of the rumors about Youku not getting the air date approved). The so called scandal with CFY might be a warning that if Tencent tries to air HYX , who ever is doing this might fabricate an even worse scandal to ban the show.
So now that it has been revealed that she was the one manipulating harrassing extorting and abusing him due to…
Unfortunately people will identify with those who are most like them. They will resonate and sympathize with those who operate on the same wavelength. And unfortunately that's the majority of people who...just aren't good people. They had forgotten what that woman was like and what she had done (to the other cast members and who knows who else we don't know about). These people had gleefully participated in the social murder of an innocent man whose only crime was probably being at the wrong place at the wrong time and becoming the object of obsession of that unhinged woman.
That's a weird audio sample.1. Poi sounds emotionally distraught and distressed2. Who was the one recording them?…
She is manipulating him. She has been manipulating him for years. The recording was not recorded by Biu. It was obtained by Redskull, who is an investigative journalist. People like Redskull are common in Asian countries when it comes to celebrity scandals they are able to have access to chat records and phone records in their countries. And please, you don't give a rats shaking ass about poi, you just want to hate Biu because he's got more talent and beauty in one of his toenails than you'll ever hope to have in your miserable life. Now shoo insect!

It's a good thing Tan Jian Ci looks young for his age.
