He is an actor named "Chen Ze" and he played as" Lin Xi Geng" in the drama, "The Best of You in My Mind". He was a supporting actor in that drama.
So, in this drama, "Different Princess", he was reunited with Song Yiren.

Your words are logical and sensible and these are what I have been waiting for the 3 years that I am watching a few C-dramas.
-- If you have been writing your insights about Song Yiren, starting from her break-through drama, "Ever Night, Season 1 and 2" . . up to the last drama, "The Inextricable Destiny" and this recent one, "Different Princess"; then somehow you will make those people to reflect of their writings on the insults and humiliating words they hurled towards her. Words that you cannot even imagine to be written by a mature and responsible people . . . For those words are meant to demean and belittle the dignity of another human being, such as Song Yiren.
-- I will borrow a famous phrase written by my good American friend, she's a good Drama Analyst and my Mentor. She wrote: "There's a line from Shakespeare's "Hamlet," that I think sums up these people who just can't seem to stop criticizing Song Yiren- "The lady doth protest too much, methinks." (English Literary Writings - Shakespeare)
It refers to those who over-reacting or exaggerating their position or to those who think they know everything of a certain celebrity. They easily judge and condemn. And they attacked anything, even a slightest details that related to an actor or an actress; their minds are full of biased opinions and their arguments are always: " I am entitled to my own opinion!".
However, if one will reflect in the pattern of moral values: yes, " everyone is entitled to one's opinion but not all opinion are equally valid, especially if you cross the line of dehumanizing the right of another human being".

*** Song Yiren knew very well on how people attacked her physical look; she briefly mentioned this matter when she was auditioning for a role as "Sang Sang for Ever Night Drama Series".
(She got the Best Actress for her role). And this is the drama which make Song Yiren became known amongst fans of C-dramas in North America, for after all, she grew up and was educated in the Province of Quebec, - the French-speaking Province of Canada. (Hence, she can speak the French language for this matter).

It is just so sad that in this world, people has a superficial judgment to think that when one is handsome and beautiful, he or she is always an excellent actor/actress and their dramas are worthy to be watched and highly rated.
(Nonetheless, a research done on 'eye candy element versus acting and talents" validates an opposite result.)

-- Yes, Song Yiren might be that ordinary looking actress whom one take for granted; but, one lingering question to ask is "why she can always establish a strong teamwork and a perfect chemistry with those so-called handsome actors paired with her?
A reply coming from our American Drama Analyst holds true: "Song Yiren is great actress, she can pull from her co-star what is needed in a particular scene. It's easy to act as a "lover" if you really have a love- relationship with your on-screen "lover." It takes effort and skill to act that same way, and make it seem real, with someone who is just a co-star."

(When Dylan Wang was interviewed: he replied very fast: "my best friend in the Chinese Entertainment Industry is Song Yiren)

*** And yes, your words on Male Lead, Ding Zeren here are considerate. You have an appreciation of his talents and skills in acting. For as a good-natured human being, one should appreciate talents when we saw one . .
However, some become judges and jurors for him . . Have we forgotten the fact that the measure that we give to others will be measure back to us someday?
And you're right again; we don't care of the actor's personal life as long as he can act on the character that he was assigned to. For after all, who does not commit mistakes in their own lifetime? Are we qualified to condemn others?

Lastly: when everything has been said and done; one can only reflect that those whom they undermined and labelled as an "underrated actors / actress / dramas are "the Hidden Gems" amongst all other entertainers and shows . . "for the stones that we often rejected and throw away can become a cornerstone later".
