And to be honest, if someone ask me if the script of this drama is good or bad; I will answer that I have not done any study on Scriptwriting and this is an area that I have no specialization. My only answer if I was asked about this drama:
"This drama is Good. I simply liked it and I truly enjoy the direction of its story and its characters. I liked everything on this drama because it makes me smile, laugh, cry and be sad, as if I am part of this drama."

No one in their sensible minds are interested about the so-called pig-tails; we don't even noticed it, until someone writing on how the pig-tails irritated her.

-- Viewers came to this drama and be engaged on it; they laugh, they cried, be sad and hated the characters; this drama has the ways to captivate an audience.
--- And when a drama become engaging; viewers starts to ask Why, What, When and Where . . When questions are being ask, conflict will arise . .

How right he was, for this drama has a lot of conflict that as the episodes were unfolding, the viewers have a conflicting feeling on what is going on.

To spend time criticizing the story, hating the director and the scriptwriter and the character and to even noticing the minutest details of the hairstyles, clothes worn, etc, etc; literally rob us of a joy of how it is with the drama . . .

We watch a drama to be entertained; however, much of the enjoyment of watching a drama is lost due to some preconceived notions that the "such character or so should be like this and like that", even hating the Director and Scriptwriter for getting that actress since her look is not fitted to be in this drama; or noticing even the smallest details here and there.

And this notions are based on "eye candy' outlook - something that pleases more of the eyes . .
** As I've searched and filtered on the many comments on another Drama Platforms; the general consensus for this drama is that "this is an engaging drama, it challenges your emotions on a roller-coaster level. It can make you laugh, cry, smile, be sad and even hated all those people in this drama.

And so this drama is great as it captivated a viewers’ thinking by exposing them to some ideas and humanizing people who hold unpopular perspectives.

However the heart of Rong Yu is already confused on what is the best thing to do. Just like He Jiuling before, he is also besetted of too much guilt of knowing what his uncle did for the family of He Jiuling.
Rong Yu is torn between his love for Jiuling and for his guilt of knowing the reality . .

Each episode of this engaging drama is more than enough to challenge our emotions . .

I will share with you, not only my thoughts, but the thought of another friend, who live in the other side of the world . .
(Now, you will note how this engaging drama challenges our emotions and now be discussed in different parts of the globe)

*** My thoughts on Episode 22:
Rong Yu seems to forget the promises that he made to He Jiuling on that night where they look up to gaze the starry night . . . "that I will always be in the side of my wife . ."

*** My friend's thoughts which I find more interesting to reflect:
Yes, has he forgotten or not realized that He Jiuling loves & needs him - despite the betrayal?
She no longer has a family and the best way to repay that debt is to help rebuild a family with her.
Oh! ❣Is he so overwhelmed by his Uncle's betrayal of the He Family that maybe he no longer thinks he has any right, honor nor worthiness to stay with her? You can see that in the last episode how he wept as he awoke after overhearing the conspiracy confessed.
Rong Yu is so ashamed but still so filial that he is willing to commit suicide to atone for his Uncle's crimes.
He Juiling & Rong Yu love each other to the point of being willing to die for the other and the tragedy & difficulty are magnified as they do not / cannot consult nor communicate but rather each makes erroneous assumptions unilaterally

@lovehj I am not familiar of any traffic or non-traffic actors, especially in the Chinese Entertainment Industry.
For me, I rather focused on how the actor acts on his assigned role.
That he is the Character, not an actor anymore . .
*** That he is Rong Yu, not Wang Youshou and she is He Jiuling, not Song Yiren . . ***
And the way to measure on one act is to watch a drama with an "open, objective mind"

This is one comment which brings a happier note to those who enjoyed this drama; for we came to watch a drama to be entertained and to know the story and the characters involved on it. We came not as a judges, we came as viewers . .

It seems that MDL has a way to filter those who are writing negative comments about this engaging drama. Hence, they will rated it a minus point.
In some independent site for bloggers, this drama is on a higher ranking.

I think that before you measure this drama, you should complete the whole episode till the end; for this is "not a one-man show"; this show involves so many characters that we should appreciate also. And most supporting characters on this show did their role with passion, too.

- Your outlook on He Jiuling belittles her significant role in this drama

- The setting of this drama has an engaging storyline to the plot since it breaks away from the conventional pattern of male dominance and female weakness, where the male lead is supposed to rescue and save the female lead most of the time.
Now we have a female lead rescuing her country and the male lead from his injuries.

*** I could say that this drama is engaging because it challenges the emotions of the viewers; that we are carried on a roller-coaster of emotions in our journey with the characters here. And so we read people hating this drama.
However, we forgot that the characters of this drama have undergone a "character development of their roles that they're different at the end of the story than they were at the beginning . .

*** A Drama Analyst from France has a Logical Truth when he wrote:
" Dramas that are Rated Low due to some Preconceived Notions and Prejudgment Opinions tend to end up "Classic in Time".

You stated very well what is the logical way of watching this show!
They only look on one side of a character, forgetting that the other character played significantly to keep this drama alive.
