I am going to enjoy the rest of 'Typhoon Family' episodes without focusing on numbers . I gonna enjoy characters & their lives as well as my actor bias acting.
Personally, I still like this series though I hate some of the 'Writing Choices' .

Because if I focus on numbers, the dissatisfaction on the writing creeps in & takes over, which in turn ruins my mood /my enjoyment.

In this episode, Kang Taepoong comes back as a titular character.

I think Junho should be nominated as 'Best ‌Actor' at Baeksang again this year.

He gives happy 🌀,angry🌀 ,sad 🌀 & 101 shades of Kang 🌀, in a well balanced way.
Really a master of acting.

Of course, the whole cast acted well. But this is a male centric show ,and his character's name is in the title, so let me praise him for good effort.

Award & recognition in a well written show is one thing, but bringing 'Rating & Buzz' to a show,ppls claim 'not a well written show' is another thing. It deserves a 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

It is a special case drama. It is better to watch and see yourself after all episodes have been released.

First of all, it is not 'Romantic Comedy' .It is a coming of age Business drama.

The drama is about a young carefree son who had to inherit his late father's legacy & company in 1997 South Korean Economic crisis , IMF.

Most Ppl who come to see this drama are expecting to see a male protagonist drama like 'Chief Kim' 'Vincenzo' 'Itaewon Class',etc. But after 12 episodes, it is clear that the drama creator team wants to focus on human relationships between the protagonist & the employees of his late father's company ,nothing else [not even the company's & protagonist's success].

Part of the reason may be it is the scriptwriter's first ever project, 'Business is all over the place & repetitive' which is the main reason for low scores.

But you love simple human relationships & character driven shows , you may love the drama. Who knows...

The drama as a whole is not bad, characters are 'above average' than a lot of shows.
Which is bad is the Business Aspect.

They usually receive 4-6 episodes. And writing in these ep are not so bad. Especially for KTP character.

Junho is a person with lots of curiosities. When he was doing music, he ventured into all sorts of music & instruments within his reach.
Actor Lee Junho is the same. He wants to explore all genres,rather than sticking to popular genres & becoming a celebrity actor.

This role gave a new Junho, a 'pure bright sunshine ball' which he rarely has done before, because almost all his characters were born poor or have traumatic experiences.For an actor who wants to explore 'New Genres & roles' his choice isn't wrong.
Through this role, people are going to know he can do physical comedy really well .

They got one of the best tvN opening episode rating of all time, (
But they are struggling to reach 10% viewership in 3/4 of drama.
So it is too disappointing to see that.

Ep.10 reach 9.9% so I'm sure the drama will break 10% in final.
Junho tried what he could with his acting , his star power . He did his best.
The writing didn't work well & I felt sorry for him.

But you are right, if he want to hit another Jackpot(not popularity alone like KTL, but popularity as well as critical acclaim like TRS),he needs to work with 'Experienced Writers' & production.

I hope 'Veteran 3' be this project.

It is not about success or failures. Their repetitive meeting with Pyo Junior makes no sense except it is the writer's plot device. Like a makjang plot . True Slice of life genre shouldn't have that. They may face obstacles, let them be IMF business situations like inflation,etc. Not some childish Pyo HJ games.

If you have fun, have fun. Everybody has different taste. I understand.
For me, I am going to check out final after skipping 17,18, 19.
After my effort of seeing the first 12 episodes, I have to see how it ends at least.
If it gives me a satisfying conclusion, I may watch the 3 skipped episodes backwards .

I am saying sorry to Junho here, but the drama makes my patience wear thin. I will catch final.

'Typhoon Family' in my head after first 2-4 episodes (Let's be real, the first few episodes are really great.)
☑️Expectation
-Male lead slowly regrouping with his daddy's old team in the first half of drama
-Dealing with Realistic IMF business situations. male lead ,meeting with his dad's old business partners like Gangnam business lady & making new business partners over 3/4 of drama
-Final Showdown with Pyo Merchant in last few episodes
(Not really ideal, but I was expecting to see Pyo HJ would turn against his father like that evil business man's son in 'Chief Kim'. )
-Win and back to his greenhouse business, exporting roses

❌-Not expecting to see extra lengthy GMJ redemption arc in Thailand after making him an extreme misogynistic jerk. No development on business front.
-Over the top repetitive failures by PHJ after repetitive meeting with that certain jerk.
-Not back stabbing green juice lady . And Typhoon Family employees ignorant enough to allow a non-company staff to touch their business files or not locking the room after business hours.

After 12 episodes, I am drained & numb to feel something for either hero's team or villain's team.

They are promoting it as the best script of the channel this year. So, my expectations are sky high that my disappointment is quite big in return.

I am emotional at Nammo x Minho scene.

I really feel frustrated about story writing in some ways.

In her next work, writer nim should try Slice of life writing without a corporate conflict . She is really great at creating humanistic characters , but fails at writing an engaging single protagonist business drama. The story telling on business aspect is really losing on me right now. It is as if she doesn't know how to create protagonist & antagonist alternative win in believable ways in her story telling. Do you feel happy when Typhoon Company wins? For me, I don't because I know something is going to go wrong later. It is her pattern over 12 episodes.

Acting is really great from everyone here. In earlier episodes, I was expecting some recognition from award body next year because it started really great. But with this story telling, I am not sure anymore. (Because voting members only check out specific projects they would like to see,not going through each & every project per year.It is true for Oscar. It must be for every award ceremony.)

I feel like a Schizophrenic patient between love & frustration. It is really great at building characters (like Nammo, Miho, Mr. Koo etc ) ,but I wanna yell with frustration at business aspect.

This type of 'Slice of Life Comedy' is going to be great if they have 'Arc Antagonist' than a single villain.
A single villain antagonist is suitable for kind of dramas when male lead & his crews have already 'Power Ups' against said antagonist .(Chief Kim-Male lead is a skillful accountant, Vincenzo- Male lead is an ex-mafia).

In this drama, male lead is a novice. After 11 episodes, it becomes evident that 'Typhoon Family' crews stories are more important than 'Typhoon Company' success or Victories over series antagonist'.
It is like a Shounen anime pilot series (for example -One Piece Season 1) in which male lead collects his crews to lead a great adventure. We are slowly introduced to his crews and their stories . But I am afraid whether we will have time to see male lead's greater self or success story.
(I am looking forward to the writer's resolution)

This is the reason why I said this series would be benefitted from 'Arc Antagonist' story telling. It is more about grow-up than protagonist success.

EP. 11 is properly back to business .Heart warming with comedic beats in the middle . Junho's expressions are so hilarious at Y2k cult meeting.

I hope this time, they achieve success whatever Pyo son is trying to do.

It can't be helped that the drama is not everyone's cup of tea.
1) We can only keep the rating up if those who truly like this drama give a slightly higher rating than usual.
2) When the drama ends, write lots of positive comments in the comment section and positive reviews.
3) spread what you love about this drama on Social (instagram, TikTok,YouTube, Twitter and Reddit.)

The female lead is a shy introverted character who doesn't have confidence in herself. Contrary to most popular hallyu K drama trend with 'Cold Male lead & Bubbly female lead' , the male-female dynamic is the opposite.

Male lead is the more social one. He is ex-party boy with lots of friends . Female lead is good with calculations, but she is socially awkward character.

Though I think it is a more popular genre for global audience, how it is going to fare in popularity ,can never be guessed before it airs. For 'Cashero' not even the promotional material out, how can I say it ?

For 'Typhoon Family' there were a lot of plot scenarios in my head before the promo was out. It was quite different from actual material.

Previously when tvN & jtbc started , they considered 15% on free channels( SBS/Mbc/ Kbs) = 10% on tvN & jtbc .
But lately ratings are not doing that well , because viewers are seeing dramas on OTT. (Netflix,tving) .

Drama rating around 10% are considered decent hit and >15% are meteorite hit on whatever channel it is now. Of course, Good data buzz, brand reputation are part of the calculations to measure the online buzz in South Korea.
