I can't read Chinese. Please let me know what the Chinese text says at the ending of the last episode.

The old cast was too expensive, it is a low budget project so they had to change the cast but that is not a problem.…
I just don't like it when they cut off a story which has not ended yet. I was curious whether Fang Sheng Mei (actress Jiang Xin) would return to her BF who embarrassed her at the real estate agency or whether she will marry the businessman who has been pursuing her.
On Ode to Joy Season 3 Oct 12, 2022
Ode to Joy season 3 was planned as a continuation where the story left off in season 2. Somehow a decision was made not to continue the old story but create a new story in season 3 with a new cast. Disappointing. I'm sure there were reasons for it. My own speculation is that the old cast demanded a higher salary. Also many of the old cast members were busy with other film drama projects. If anyone has the insight story, please share.

A fun family drama. I like the role character of Zeng Zi Ling the best. She is fun to hang out with.

I do not understand the scene in the last episode when Yu Tian arrived on a motorcycle. Can anyone explain it to me?

I understand that OTJ3 will be filmed with a complete new cast. Not sure whether the story from OTJ2 be continued (will Fan Sheng Mei return to her BF?). Does anyone know why OTJ3 with the old cast has been cancelled?

Shen Shi Jun and Xu Shu Hui are men of weak characters and with no leadership qualities. I pity any woman marrying such men in real life.

The tragedy of the entire story stems from feudal Chinese society in which parents treat their children as possessions and at times as commodities. Filial piety is being taken a stretch too far. It's changing a bit though as nowadays more and more young Chinese children are taking their own path in life.

The ending is a bit strange leaving many lose ends which is often the case in many Chinese dramas.

Side note: In episode 43 there was a mouth to mouth kissing scene between Shen Shi Jun and Gu Man Zhen. As far as I know actress Jiang Xin does not do any kissing scenes. It's in her contract. So I suspect that a fill-in was used in the kissing scene as Gu Man Zhen elbow was blocking the actual kissing scene.

i dont think so, She was already popular before establishing Jaywalk Studio in 2013 ... she was chosen as one…
As I am not an acting coach I won't be able to respond to your question. What I have heard from people who are in the film industry is that Yang Mi has not yet reached the maturity level that is needed to play in melodrama movies.

I'm watching this drama just to see actress Tong Li Ya :-). In the drama her father has an anti-social behaviour - typical low class. He is still of the old Chinese generation that values sons over daughters. I personally would disown such a father.

Guan Yu Qing's younger brother is a spoiled brat. He is good for nothing. That comes perhaps as a result being too spoiled by his father Guan Long Nian. Let this be a lesson for the viewers. Guan Long Nian's wife is such a weakling. She doesn't stand up against her husband and does not come up for her daughter.

In the drama both Guan You Qing and Xu Qing Feng are about in their thirties but they still live with their parents. In the West they would have been kicked out house already.

Also what I have noted in many of the Chinese modern dramas is that the writers take the concept of filial piety too far. We all know how nasty mother-in-laws can be. In too many dramas the sons are just too weak to stand up against the interference of their mothers. Marriage is challenging enough let alone if you have to deal with interference by the in-laws.

I don't know how many sons still have their parents live with them in China. Surely such a living arrangement is not ideal especially if the son is married. These are just some observations from watching this drama.

Female lead is lucky that she is financially independent even after a divorce. Many women are not that lucky and therefore have to stay in an unhappy relationship. Once a married woman is totally dependent on her husband financially it may create an uneven relationship.

I can't believe that there are people like Liu Tao who is such a weakling that she allows herself to be bullied. Even when she became an adult she is still very timid and easily bullied. Such people definitely have a personality disorder and need to see a psychiatrist immediately to prevent her from committing suicide one day.

I'm also taken back that teachers are somewhat fearful to report major issues like bullying to the head principal who is putting it aside and instead sees it as a normal process of teenagers growing up. It seems that people in general are fearful to report problems to their superiors. Such an environment in any setting is not conducive to innovation and thinking out of the box.

I can understand the dubbing when Chinese actors speak English but it sounds so awful when the English is spoken as if you are reading it slowly from a piece of paper. Chinese actor George Hu is probably the exception as English is his first language.

The good thing about this drama is that adultery is not being rewarded. Once something is broken it's very difficult if not impossible to repair it. Starting a new chapter of your life is a good thing. The real good life starts at thirty :-)

Then watch Western shows or keep it to yourself. A compare and contrast that is about the art has merit, but comparing…
It's not about comparing cultural & social norms. It's about what is right and wrong. No matter where you live touching & grabbing a woman w/o her concert is sexual harassment. Period.
On Ten Years Late Feb 12, 2020
If Zhao Cheng Zhi has some pride in him, after being rejected by Yuan Lai several times, he should forget about her and move on. Such behaviour by Cheng Zhi is an embarrassment to all men. As the saying goes-"losing someone who doesn't appreciate you is a gain and not a loss".
On Ten Years Late Feb 10, 2020
In 99% of the Chinese romance dramas the ML always grabs the FL hands or arms without her consent. This drama is no exception. Such scenes are considered to be sexual harassment in the West. It sets a bad example to the male audience thinking that such behaviour is somehow acceptable.

One of the most boring drama series. The most interesting character was Li Na. I like the way she sways her hips. That's about it.

What confuses me is that kisskh is making a reference to emperor of Qing ( played by Chen Dau Ming ) but the story is supposed to take place during the Liu Song Dynasty which was the first of the four Southern Dynasties in China. Time periods seems to be mixed up.

Actress Song Yi looks exquisite in a Cheongsam. She is by far my most favourite actress not only for her beauty but also for her charming voice and acting performance.

Yes Yang Mi was popular, mainly because of her good looks, before she became a shareholder of Jay Walk Studios but her career and earnings really took off after that. As far as her acting skills are concerned I have been told by acting professionals that her acting skills are mediocre. Of course this is a subjective assessment.
