I have just cancelled my GagaOOlala subscription after reading this post: https://lollipopsub.tumblr.com/post/670766778211762177/gagaoolalas-subs-official-vs-mine-fan-pt…
Holy shit, their subtitles are so bad that they changed the meaning of Kyioi's entire character cuz they have him calling Hira "disgusting" and "gross." On Viki, we find out that the word is actually "weird," which is MUCH softer in the English connotation. You can affectionately call a friend a weirdo if he is, in fact, and oddball, which Hira is.
I did not like the chasing scene at first. Then I thought about it and realized, hey, they are little kids. Only…
My comment is in response to a comment that has a spoiler warning, so I thought people could not see it. Isn't that how it works? I am pretty sure that only you can see this cuz it was a reply to you. Others have to tap into "spoiler" to see it. :)
GUYS LOOK UP THE BEHIND THE SCENE PHOTOS FROM SMASH 🤤Kiyoi and Hira in bed
Speaking of bed, where the heck is that final image of them sleeping naked? It is not the classroom. And it has that blue plastic sheet from the play's rehearsal room. But it would not have made sense to film it there if they were planning on doing the scene in the high school.
It just occurred to me that Kioyi has a bit of Tharn/Type in him insofar as he's a "redeemable jerk" who starts off being negative but then turns sweet. But not too sweet, cuz they both still say harsh words, but now we know in both cases that the "jerk" does not mean it.
They changed this episode from the original source which was to be expected. It's been a while since I last read…
I did not like the chasing scene at first. Then I thought about it and realized, hey, they are little kids. Only 19 years old or so. Thus, it makes sense to be silly like this. It put the characters in context, so I liked it.
For those looking for a character change, I actually liked that they showed Kioyoi still calling him "weird" (which is actual translation of that word), cuz otherwise the character change would have been too drastic to be believable. Also, now we have some context for the word. He's just a cute little kid who doesn't want to say "love" and hides behind the word, "You are so weird." But we see him smiling as he says it. As we did before, only now we know for sure. I thought that was the best part of the finale. This was handled well. I could've lived without wasting time on Koyoma though. I mean, they only had 23 minutes cuz first 2 minutes were recaps from last week, why waste it on this character who's gone from the story in the CD version and, I presume, from the novel too.
As for Cherry Magic, wow, how frustrating was that? It was obvious that the actor had a contract clause issuing no male kissing. It also made no sense to have the gorgeous character say he wants to touch the guy, and not to actually touch him!
I wanted to see a real kiss hot and heavy. I mean, they did manage to pack it all in, but it was not 30 minutes nor something to "not watch with family." I liked however how they still have Kiyoi calling him "wierd." On Viki that word does not translate to "disgusting" or "gross," but, rather, weird. It makes sense to call Hira a weirdo. Or to say, "Why do I love somebody as weird as you." That translation was the best and explained everything to me. I need to watch it again as I'm sure I'll like it better on 2nd viewing.
Oh, and you can do an auto-English for the CD. He sucked his toe in that, but in this he sucks Kiyo sucks his finger, but there is no oral sex scene. But I choose to imagine Hira as a wonderful lover anyway.
Personally I think their relationship is toxic. The way Kiyoi always tell Hira he's disgusting and Hira always…
Thank you for being polite with your review. I disagree however and want to point out that when Kioyii calls Hira "creepy" (which is what it means, not disgusting), he says it even when he's smiling. For instance, after Hiro told him he's not sure he's gay cuz he only has eyes for Kioyii, no other man or woman. Kioyii breaks into a wonderful smile even as he's saying "creepy." It shows that the character does not have bad feelings when using this word and, rather, just uses the word as a defense mechanism. More than anything, the character is drawn as being really bad at communication. As for Hiro, yikes, he's so bad at it that he's borderline Aspergers. That's why it takes so long for them to get together. But that is also the whole point of the show.
Kiyoi will get more and more popular and earning a lot, by book 2 he’s basically Hira’s sugar daddy since…
wow, thank you for such a well thought out reply! Since you know this material so well, I have one last question, cuz I don't care about spoilers. What is the thing that Hira saves Kioya from and how does he put his life on the line? It kind of sounds like an action plot, so I'm probably thinking of this the wrong way. What actually happens? Again, go ahead and spoil it for me cuz I never care about that, lol

Thanks for this! But I am confused over the wording of one part. When Hiro leaves is it cuz he is responding to Kioyi yelling at him and saying let's break up (ie, is he merely doing what Kioyi tells him to do). Or is it cuz Hira is pissed off too and storms out? It seems out of character for Hira to get pissed off and run, so it's probably the first scenario where he's listening to Kioyi . Then later on (if I understand correctly), Kioyi tells Hira to not listen to everything that he says when he is angry, cuz it's just anger talking.
Lastly, when you say Hira almost feels like a different character, is that cuz he gets more assertive in forceful ways? I wonder how the author showed that happening. I wish I read Japanese! Or that the novel was in English.

I meant earning is power. In hetero marriages a lot of times the man is mortified if his wife makes more than him. The majority of divorces are about money, not infidelity. So while it's not romantic, money matters. And it matters more as we grow up. But I can see how Hira offers other things that compensate and make the relationship believable. I actually asked the question to truly get an answer to explain why the relationship works, and not just to criticize so thanks for your answer.

aww, that's so sweet that Kioyoi wants to take care of his shy, stay at home wife. In real life, though, a ton of men would be chasing Kioyi in the modelling world and that would be a challenge in the relationship. That's why it's so funny that so far it's been Hira who got the attention from more than one man! lol. Love it!
