Oh, and I also want to ask you Ximmich, is there a novel version of "The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese"? Because I noted you have mentioned your love of it, and I also loved that movie. I found it to be one of the most mature of all Bl's. Indeed, I do not even classify it as BL because the lovers are adults, not boys. And the themes (let alone sex scenes) are so mature.

I was very taken with this film and watched it twice since discovering it this year. If it's a novel in translation, I would love to read it. I am a 57 year old woman and get the feeling I am much older than most of the women here, so I like movies like this that feature older characters going through more mature life experiences of jobs, divorce and death (like the woman whose dad died, but she could not even tell anyone at work it was her dad).

At any rate, I loved this film, and wondered if it was based on a novel, and if it were translated in English.

I left this convo because I had watched the series so many times it became obsessive, lol, and I decided the only thing left for me was to read the novel. Well, I came back to the convo today, and here you are wetting my appetite for the novel again! I really cannot wait for the translation. I must say, I am surprised that with the popularity of show, nobody is translating it. If it is a question of money I, for one, would be happy to pay for it. Do you think we should start a petition to monetize an English translation? Also, may I ask how you learned Japanese? I am so impressed that you read the Japanese novel!

I just started this series today and yes, I am enjoying it and can say right off that it's superior to most Thai…
Ok, I am now further into the show and figured out what the gang is all about, lol. So scratch this question. But it was driving me bonkers for the first 2 episodes detracted from me enjoying the show overall. But now I totally get it. :)

Thank you sooo much! How odd to put the stars feature under a heading that says, "Add to List." It is not very logical and never would have found it w/o you guys' help. So thanks!

PS, I also have a non-related question as someone fairly new to MDL. How do I leave stars w/o having to leave an entire review? I found the mechanism to leave a review, and when I leave a whole review I can also leave stars. I'm going to write a review for this show when all the episodes are done because I can already tell it's high quality, but sometimes I just want to leave stars for other shows w/o writing an entire review. I know there must be a way to do this, but I cannot find the prompt to do so anywhere on this darn page! Can someone please tell me?

Title Not Me
I just started this series today and yes, I am enjoying it and can say right off that it's superior to most Thai BL's in terms of no goofy sound effects and not being set on the cliched college campus, etc. I could go on and on about what I like, but first, I want to flat out actually ASK for a spoiler, lol. What the heck is the purpose of Sean's and his pal's gang? What do they do? Are they a gang that does social criticism just like that grafittii artist? It does not seem likely. I mean, gangs need to make money to survive. So what the hell is it that these guys do on a daily basis to make money? What is the purpose of their gang?

OMG!! Did I see it right?I just finished episode 6 and Hira just went from being submissive in the first 5 episodes…
lol, so true. But Kyioi kind had an inkling that Hira had aggressive energy hidden behind the submissive facade cuz Hira went nuts beating Shirota. That was the turning point for Kyioi to start falling in love with Hira. In the CD it says point blank that this was when Kyioi fell in love.

Lollipop's subs are the best, but since it is on Dailymotion you have to put up with constant pop up ads. That's why I can't wait for Viki to finish their subs. They only have episodes 1-4 right now. They do one episode a week, so it will be 2 weeks before they have 5 and 6 done.

I think it is fair to criticise the community as well. It is part of the show too, so. As well as it served as…
As a fan of the show and someone who was on MDL when you argued, I was among the people whom you trashed. So it's only natural to respond when I was trashed. It's human nature to respond when a person is attacked. Look at you responded when you were attacked on MDL. You responded by writing an entire review to get it off your chest. I guess I was just as bad by responding to you over here in the comments, and thus, as you said I shall ignore this hereon.

As for the term "fan site" I meant MDL because that's where you were when you got into an argument with fans. I recognize your name and recall that you got into an argument with somebody named Ximma or something. Then you carried that argument over to the Review Section as well. That is not the purpose of a Review.

The community is not part of the show. Your logic is so verily flawed that I do not even know what to say. I mean there 2 radically different entities -- a show and the fans who like the show. Do you see? Those are 2 different things. How the hell are they same? It's like you think X and Z are the same. When someone cannot tell the difference between a show and its fans then I have no way to even argue with you because it indicates that you either have a sublevel IQ or you are simply insane. Because everyone else in the world recognizes that these are 2 different entities. Again "show" and "fans who like the show" = 2 different things.

If you want me to respect your review, then go back and edit out the nonsense about the community who like the show, and leave just the bottom part where you finally got around to talking about the show itself. Yes, it's a negative review, but that's fine. Plenty of people left negative reviews and I did not say a word because it's their right to leave negative reviews about a show. I only commented on yours because half of it is negative toward fans and not toward the show itself. Again, you need to do an edit so that it is about only the show.

That was actually a great description and answered all my questions. Wow, thank you so much! Now I just have to wait for someone translate the darn novel, lol.

I just put my comment in spoilers, thanks for the suggestion! Also, thanks for using the word "passionate" cuz that is exactly what I was thinking when I used the phrase "animal in bed" and "goes for it." I was misphrasing it cuz what I really meant was "passionate." So I guess the way I should read Hira's character vis-a-vis sex, is someone who always checks and gets consent but is, otherwise passionate. But I still wonder, is his passionate side something Kiyoi likes? I mean, did the author distinguished him as being so passionate that Kiyoi notices it as being a special quality? Or is this not really a big deal that anyone notices in the book? I am just trying to find things about Hira that make him special other than his being talented at photography, and having a sweet, gentle personality.

Title My Beautiful Man Spoiler
Except for the bullies I don't think there are "bad guys" here. After having been ignored and bullied all school…
Thank you so much! You know, the auto-English translation of the CD was so bad and so choppy that a lot of this was lost. The auto translation does not even get the pronouns right and refers to the boys as "she" a lot. As for the permission, it was implied once when Hira asked if it was alright to touch him on the anus, and waited to proceed. But then he really went for it! And then later on, Kiyoi says somewhere in his private thoughts that Hira does not go down on him unless he asks permission first. But the very fact that Hira keeps going down on him made me think, ok, the author seems to want us to know that this character is really into pleasing his partner. So I read it as Hira being so into Kiyoi that he just wants to ravish him and cannot help it, lol.

of course I don't think hira is a bad guy, thats why I put it in quotations, its just that I was a bit annoyed…
Yea, sayhun, I totally got what you meant too. I was merely qualifying that Hira's a dork more than bad guy. But I totally knew what you meant and how it turned out that Hira was more the problem that obstructed the relationship than Kiyoi was. So I knew that you meant that it was a surprise how in the end, it turned out that Hira was more the problem than Kiyoi was! lol

I am so envious that you read Japanese cuz I am dying to read the novels but none have been translated yet. Maybe that will happen now that the show is so popular. But it will likely take a while. So for now I am going to bug you with some questions about the novel.

First, is Hira described as good looking? In the show the kid is very handsome, and I wondered if he is in the book too. When the guy at the party hits on him, is it cuz of how he looks? Or more about how he's a talented photographer and has a unique kind of vibe? I imagine this character as somebody who would never have been ridiculed as a kid if not for his stammering. I thought of a nice looking kid with loving, successful parents who had money, and a lot of class. He has a talent for photography and a unique, if not odd, kind of sensibility that actually makes people (like Kioyi) take notice of him. Is that how he is in the book and why somebody would hit on him?

My second question is about sex scenes (sorry, but I am curious, lol). Is he described as being the initiator of sex with Kiyoi and good in bed? I read an auto-English translation of the CD and it came off as Hira being shy all the time, but suddenly in bed he's this total animal and that this was a turn on for Kiyoi. Is that how he is in the novel?

My third question is about the stammer. I noted that in the show it goes away after he's gained some confidence with Kiyoi at the end. Does it also go away in the novels after they begin dating and he has, thus, gained more confidence?

Report the comment while giving accurate reasons of why it should be removed, maybe it will be removed, i will…
Thanks, but I had no problem finding the report. It was the damn comment icon I could not figure out cuz it's the same icon we usually see for personal messages..

As for comments, a couple of people chastised her for what they said was "invalidating other reviewers" just because she, personally, did not like a show. Only 1 person in the 11 comments agreed with her. And listen, she has a right to leave a negative review and criticize a show and I did not say a word about other negative reviews. I only commented on hers cuz I was annoyed that she criticized us, and not the show. And that is precisely what I told her in my comment. I said I was not even going to respond to her statement about the show, cuz that's her right, but that her review was 1/2 ad hominem attacks against fans, and thus everyone should ignore it.

Found it! I did not know it was the "messages" icon. That is very confusing, cuz I thought it meant I would be sending a personal message with that icon. It says Purimi has 11 comments, but I have not read them all yet. I assume one is from you, lol. At any rate, thank you!

“It seems almost forced how many excellent reviews this drama has.“ I’m sorry but maybe a lot of people…
Bravo uua. I just commented above that this is not even a review so much as this person exploiting the Review Section to vent personal anger at the show's fans. She uses ad hominem attacks on the fans calling them "hysterical" and "toxic." That is a review of the show's fans, not of a review of the show itself.
