Solid start. I like that it’s different. Believable? No. But who cares, it’s entertainment. Kuea character…
I also didn't think it was believable but thought, what the hell it's fun. It's not believable, for example, that two hetero men in their 70's are pro gay marriage for their grandsons. Thai is still homophobic for even this generation, let alone the elder generation of grandparents.
We forget this cuz there are so many Thai BLs, but BL's are made for a very narrow market of females under 30, not the Thai people in general. And we've seen in some of those BL's that Thai parents often cannot accept their gay sons. We also know the Thai govt rejects gay marriage. That's why one one character says, "Your marriage won't even be legal here." At least the show acknowledges this. So that part is realistic.
You have no faith in white when all whites doing is cleaning up his brother s mess and for you information sean…
Thank you so much for the apology. I need to apologize to you too. I never complain about people's grammar, and it was crappy for me to do so in retaliation.
Moreover, I just read your comment again and you made some good points, such as that Sean must know that "Black" is a twin. And this is why he asked "Do you have a sibling?" That was an excellent point.
Once again, thank you for apologizing. I am not used to people doing that on MDL. In fact, you win the prize for the most mature, gracious person here! LOL.
You have no faith in white when all whites doing is cleaning up his brother s mess and for you information sean…
Umm, people cannot follow a 40 line comment that has virtually no punctuation. I defy even you, the writer, to read that comment and make sense of it. I lost all meaning after the first 3 lines. But 3 lines were enough to glean that you were being hostile. I don't like attacking people over grammar, but since you were being hostile, I can be so in response.
Black has gotten back his phone from white in ep 9 and white talked with his mother before meeting with Black…
Thank you. I guess I missed that about the phone. Now it makes sense.
But I don't get that Sean tied him up so White couldn't prevent him from confronting Tawi cuz White had no idea Tawi would even be there. Remember, Gramm had to send White a text saying, "Tawi is the speaker today so come quick." If White had no idea, presumably none of them did, and Gramm only knew cuz he was already on campus. And why would Sean be so worried anyway? The most White could have done would be to nudge Sean to shut up, but what else could he do? Gag him?
You may be right, as it's the only explanation. But it's kind of a weak one on the director's part. At any rate, I still enjoy the show so I am just gonna let it go.
2 of your points also drive me bonkers. I posted about the coma last week and decided to just let it go and suspend…
BTW, the mom knew it was White despite having no relationship with White because she DID have a relationship with Black. It was about Black, not about White. She could tell that the guy in front of her was not Black. That was believable to me.
I hope the series will answer some of the questions below though. There are only 4 episodes left...And I have…
2 of your points also drive me bonkers. I posted about the coma last week and decided to just let it go and suspend disbelief. I mean, nobody gets up after a coma, runs away and fights with somebody, however brief the coma was. Comas put people in ICU.
I posted about the tying up back when it happened and then again today because it came up again in the drinking game. Not only is it never explained, but White never bothers to ask Sean why he did it. Sorry, nobody on the planet would get tied to his bed and not ask why. He had no way of knowing that Todd would come and untie him. For all he knew, he could've been tied there all die, hungry or even wetting himself. It was utterly unrealistic for him to not demand an explanation. Did they director simply forget to give one? Someone above said it was so White couldn't prevent Sean from confronting Tawi. However, nobody knew Tawi would be there until Gramm sent texts telling them so. Remember, after Todd released White he checked his cell and there was a text from Gramm saying the school Tawi was their speaker that day and to come quickly. Clearly, they did not know beforehand.
Another plot hole is the cell phone. First White is using it to call their mother. In the next scene Black is using it to call Sean.
Yet another plot hole was the video of Eugene somebody sent to White. It was not Todd who sent it cuz Todd was surprised by it. Maybe Todd sent it secretly, but White did not think it was Todd. So why didn't White ask Todd, "Who do you think sent this to me?" It was not Gramm, cuz it had a message with it that said, "You are in danger."
Coma. Tying up. Cell phone. Eugene's video.
The show is riddled with plot holes But I am enjoying it anyway! LOL. Mostly cuz all the leads are so cute and have good chemistry. Dan is hot as hell and Yok's smile just makes me happy.
When Sean and White were playing the drinking game, White had asked, "Have you ever tied me up?" It reminded me that it was never explained why Sean did this. Not only does the audience get no explanation, but White himself never bothers to ask Sean why he did it.
Can someone explain why Sean tied up White in episode 8? At first I thought it made sense cuz he'd just found White's contact lenses and glasses and thus knew something was suspicious. But then he ended up kissing White in episode 9, which indicated that any suspicion had vanished. To the contrary, he trusted White/Black so much that he did the trust fall on a high rise building.
Does anyone know why Sean tied up White?
Also, who is using Black's cell phone? White is using when it was time to call their mother. But then Black is using it when it's time to call Sean. They might've explained how both have the same phone, and I missed it.
Lastly, is anyone else just plain frustrated that White won't simply tell Sean the truth by now? If he's worried it will end the relationship, well, he can't have a relationship by playing the role of Black forever anyway. He's more likely to have a relationship if he tells the truth and begs forgiveness. I know that this will happen eventually, but by episode 10, I'm frustrated having to wait another damned week for it to happen. And poor Sean! I mean, how humiliating to kiss your lover and have him spit on you then punch and kick you till your bloody, black & blue! Ugh. I could barely watch!
I think they should be promoted to leads because they are BETTER. Well, to be fair, the actor playing Thorn is…
You weren't bad, so I should qualify that it was Thistvenerableone who called me a "hater," which is an ad hominin attack. And the general tone of her comment was very aggressive (go back and read it). You're correct that your tone was not that aggressive. However, you did say that I wanted to see "lustful" kissing with the skill of " porn performers." I specifically said I wanted to see a passionate kiss. Passion and lust are very different. When I read the terms "lust" and "porn" it actually made me kind of ashamed of myself. Which was unfair. I shouldn't have to feel anything negative at all.
After all, I came to this page as fan of the show like everyone else. I never expected to have bad feelings from anyone. I would truly like to get back to a place of positivity. I mean, we don't even disagree about as much as you think we do. I simply think the guy playing Fah is a bit stiff. That's all. It's not a big deal. You're actually lucky if you don't find his performance a tad stiff, because it means you are able to enjoy the show on a higher level than I am. I mean, I envy you for that. See?
Lastly, I want to apologize if I was oversensitive. I don't want to argue with you. Especially since I just noticed that you and I are both HUGE fans of Utsukushii Kare! LOL. In fact, we just now had an exchange on Utsukushii Kare's page where we both agreed 100% about how it should've gotten a higher rating on MDL. We also shared a comment on how silly the SJW's were about trashing HIStory 4, Did you notice that was me?
SJWs keep coming to downgrade it when they learn a show they regard as "toxic" has a high rating. Business as…
Yes, there is such a thing as consensual drunk sex. But I would also add that the director went out of his way to have the other characters reprimand the younger brother for getting his big brother drunk. When a character is reprimanded as part of the story, that is a way of the show making its moral position known. So what's the point of the Social Justice Warriors piling on when the show's director and writers already had the characters make the point clear?
SJWs keep coming to downgrade it when they learn a show they regard as "toxic" has a high rating. Business as…
Wait, what did they hate about History 4? I was discomfited by the relationship between the 2 brothers, but not so much cuz they were step brothers as because they both called the same set of parents "mom and dad." I think that one set of cohesive parents is what makes one a family. That made me uncomfortable. But I have also noticed from watching a lot of Asian BL's that the Asians have a very different take on step siblings. I mean, consider how many times we see romantic relationships blossom between step brothers that we simply would never see in Western love stories. I decided to let it go cuz it was a cultural thing I'd never understand. At any rate, is what freaked out the SJWs?
Both "Utshukare" and "My Sky" have superior production values, yet both are getting ratings below 8 on MDL. Utshukare used to be an 8.3 but dropped! At least "My Sky" remained stable at 7.9.
I think they should be promoted to leads because they are BETTER. Well, to be fair, the actor playing Thorn is…
I've noticed from this and other sites that BL fans are rabidly aggressive when confronted with the slightest disagreement. Why is this is true about BL fans in particular?
Have none of you ever taken a college course wherein you write papers thinking critically and presenting different points of view? Because I assure you, there is no reason to be so deeply threatened and angry simply because a person sees a situation differently than you do. I see Fah as a stiff actor. No, I do not see the character as stiff, although there is that too. I think the actor himself is inexperienced with his craft and needs more practice. I am making a perfectly legitimate point since he does not, after all, have much experience. Hence, you do not need to be so aggressive and freaked out by my viewpoint.
Although by now, I am not surprised by the aggression of BL fans. You see, I was also attacked on a Bad Buddy thread when I jokingly asked why virtually every member of the cast just happened to be in the auditorium at the same time when Pat & Pran were hugging and the curtain fell down. None were in the play, so it cracked me up that they all happened to be there to discover Pat & Pran were secretly dating. I said, "Golly, how convenient they were there at the same time! Unless cast members were showing up to get their weekly paychecks." It was a joke but "Bad Buddy" fans went frigging ballistic on me.
And it's not just me. I have seen BL fans attack other people so badly that at this point I am exquisitely careful with how I present any criticism. My original comment above was very polite, but you guys responded to me with over aggression anyway. I watched one poor woman get hammered so badly on the MDL page for "Not Me" that I defended her even though I did not agree with her point. I just defended her right to state a different point of view.
So again, I ask: Why are BL fans so aggressive? BL shows are love stories and one would think that fans of love stories would have softer natures, but you guys do not. BL fans go into attack mode when faced with the slightest differing viewpoints.
BL kisses rarely have any tongue. I don't think that AiiSaen kiss had any either, it was just a well performed…
But Sean/White's kiss in "Not Me" was very passionate. Also, the kiss "Bad Buddy" was very realistic and passionate. If you are a BL fan, I am sure you saw both. But maybe I am being unfair to the actor playing Fah by setting the bar so high when I compare them, especially the Sean/White kiss. Because those 2 actors have worked a lot in the past and are very comfortable with each other, which makes kissing on camera much easier.
It's official. The ratings on MDL are not to be taken seriously. They also gave a terrific show like "My Sky" a 7.9. That show has gorgeous cinematography and a compelling narrative. Meanwhile other Thai BL's with those silly sound effects like "zonk" "zing" "buzz" "boing" get 8.3's. You know the sound effects I'm talking about. Those types of Bl's are manufactured on an assembly line. I am not joking either. Thailand make over 100 BL's a year. So many that it is counted as one of its Gross National Products. When you have over a 100 BL's it stands to reason that many will be cheap and cheesy. Yet here's a serious, quality Thai show like "My Sky" and it gets a 7.9 on MDL, just like the quality show "My Beautiful Man."
Well, at least we can still count on Viki for giving legitimate ratings. Both shows got ratings of 9.4 or 9.5 on Viki.
I think they should be promoted to leads because they are BETTER. Well, to be fair, the actor playing Thorn is…
Yes, there are stiff people in the real world, and the character of Aii represents this type of person. His character is uncomfortable in his skin. In fact, Sean even comments on Aii's social discomfort vis-vis dating in the locker room scene. Sean, to the contrary is extremely comfortable in his own skin and highly relaxed with everything. Thus, he is playing a character who's the opposite of Aii's stiff character.
It's pretty obvious to the audience that Aii is this type of stiff person. That is not the case with Fah. Fah simply does not know how to inhabit his role. There is a difference.
But listen, we all agree that it's a wonderful show, so let's not argue :) We are all fans, right? And like I said above, I am gonna rewatch ep 7 to give Fah another chance cuz you are all saying he got better in ep 7.
I think they should be promoted to leads because they are BETTER. Well, to be fair, the actor playing Thorn is…
I'm watching it again right now. So I'll try to give him another chance. But I still maintain that their kiss was lame compared to Sean and Aii's. It was what I call a "lip kiss" in that it had no tongue and their faces had no movement at all. Meanwhile, you could totally see Sean and Aii's jawlines moving like mad, lol.
OK, hands down, by a wide margin, best acting award goes to Porche - that was so intense it was hard to bear.…
100% agree. I was so annoyed that we got so much basketball bullshit at the expense of Dome/Vee scenes. I could not care less about basketball action sequences nor villainous coach. He's the weakest thing in the show cuz he borders on being a cartoon villain. I wanted more of Dome/Vee and Sean/Aii and instead got all Fah/Thorn and basketball. They better make up for it next week!
I think the six guys (Tae, Suar, Boom, Jump, Porsche, Kris) should be promoted to lead in the cast list and not…
I think they should be promoted to leads because they are BETTER. Well, to be fair, the actor playing Thorn is good, but as I said in my comment above, the one playing Fah is stiff as a cardboard cutout. The others do not necessarily have equal airtime to the leads, but they are certainly more charismatic and have absolutely dominated audience attention. Wherever I read comments on other sites, they are all about Dome/Vee and Sean/Aii. Nobody ever talks about Fah/Thorn.
