Seriously, what's so great about Dome? Vee, if he would cheat on your sister and then dump her to date you then…
I decided to read Dome as somebody who is a repressed homosexual and Vee simply bought it out in him. That's the only way his character is forgivable. It also makes sense for him to be repressed as he says that his friends set him up with Pran, whom he met online. So he's not a guy to hit on girls in real life, and even online he needs his pals' encouragement. That context made it easy for me to interpret his character as a repressed gay.
Also, the whole forbidden lust between him and Vee is not only favored in this MDL convo thread, but by international audiences in general. An interview had the interviewer telling the 2 actors that they had audiences riveted. There are tons of youtube clips of them, and a couple of Saen and Aii's bed scene. But nothing on Fah and Thorn, the ostensible leads in the show. . I almost feel badly for the guys playing Fah and Thorn.
I will repeat this cuz maybe you did not read the thread. As I said below, many movies about sports do not show…
I don't need to see boys kissing. Indeed, just last week I saw an excellent Chinese BL with no kissing at all. It was called "Precise Shot" and while it was set in the world of Olympian level shooting, there was little actual shooting and mostly character. The romance was clear despite China's ban on same sex kissing. If you have not seen it, I recommend it.
Saying that a show about athletes should show sports action scenes because that's an athlete's role, is tantamount…
I am also a writer and wondered how the screenwriter even handled writing those action scenes. It must have been something parenthetical like (insert some ball playing here). I get the points about how the game showed a dramatic connection between Fah and Thorn, but I still think it was dragged out too long. I wonder if they were trying to fill space cuz it's 12 episodes. Well, at least this episode satisfied with Saen and Aii. The show still left us hanging on Dome/Vee's situation, and did so for 2 episodes. But at least the story plot for Saen and Aii progressed nicely.

Yep, I agree. But when they run weekly like this it is frustrating to get continual cliff hangers such as we've been getting about Dome/Vee. It's not as if I'm all about that relationship but, rather, frustrated cuz that relationship has been presented with only tension and no resolution -- nor even progression -- week after week. Lastly, I like the show, so it's a shame when an episode fails to deliver. If I did not like the show, I'd have simply stopped watching rather than complaining.

Now that's a good argument. Thank you. I shall take another look and this time pay more attention to the dramatic connection between Fah and Thorn. I was so overwhelmed by the basketball action the first time around that I must confess to zoning out. But I shall pay attention this time. Again, thanks.

I don't know what Ted Lasso is, but I am sure it does not feature endless sports action scenes. If it were trying to compete with actual sports, it would (a) require actual athletes not actors and (b) fail miserably in the competition anyway.
Saying that a show about athletes should show sports action scenes because that's an athlete's role, is tantamount…
No, I think it deserves a lower rating past on past 2 episodes because it's a drama that lacked the components of drama -- namely, plot and character. It had the setting, which is all sports should be. Otherwise, it's competing with real sporting events and coming up short. Hence, it fails as a drama and fails as a sporting event. Lastly, try to come up with a cogent argument instead of ad hominem attacks like "pathetic" and "embarrassing." If you present a sound argument, I will consider it. Thus far, you have not.

The idiot above does not even know what "deductive reasoning" means yet "accuses" me of it as if it were a negative thing. As I told her, it's a compliment to be capable of deductive reasoning. So I thanked her, lol.

Do you know what deductive reasoning is? I think you meant to say "reductive" (ie, reducing something to a bare form). Because, um, deductive reasoning is a positive facility of the mind. Now, if you meant to say "deductive reasoning," why thank you for the compliment!
Writer. Director. Are you having a fucking laugh? I didn't sign up for a basketball drama. Really, 30-mins of…
Saying that a show about athletes should show sports action scenes because that's an athlete's role, is tantamount to saying a show about college students should show a bunch of people sitting in a library studying. After all, a student's role is to study, right? Does anyone want to watch people studying? No. Or how about a show about surgeons? Would anyone watch 35 minutes of actors pretending to operate? No. Clearly, the college and surgery in such shows are merely situations that establishes context. Sports should be used in the same capacity. And we only need a couple of minutes of a game to establish context. Anyone who wants more can tune into a real game.
Frankly, this episode and much of last week's episode (which was also largely sports with no Dome/Vee), had made me think for the first time, ok, maybe this show does deserve only a 7.9.
You don't want a series about sports talking about... sports? 🤨 I don't know, I’m not really into sport either,…
I will repeat this cuz maybe you did not read the thread. As I said below, many movies about sports do not show endless sports scenes. Consider "Field of Dreams" and "The Natural." They are about the lives of athletes as characters, not the game of baseball. If one wants to watch baseball, then one can watch the real game. Why see it in a drama? The fact is, the majority of films about sports do not show sports action scenes for more than a minute or two. They show enough to establish context and move on. Those who are sports fans will watch the real sport, not a movie. The fact that the director is filling dramatic space with sports action scenes indicates that they want to stretch the show to 12 episodes and lack narrative plot points .
Seriously wtf? You're complaining about a sports show for showing too much sports? Yes adding the coach actually…

it is a sports drama literally about sport science students so what did you expect?

Wow, I hope that's not what happened, but you may be right. I actually fast forwarded this episode to see Dome and Vee, and then Saen and Aii. I am least interested in Thorn and Fah.
BTW, how do you know Dome/Vee are popular with international fans? By comments on youtube, etc? Or elsewhere?
Oh, how I love you for agreeing about Bad Buddy. The high ratings and rabid following for that show cemented that…
Bingo, they want a clean story , or else they want a clean resolution with the bad guy punished. Never mind that a bad guy getting away with it is often the whole point of a story (as it is with my example of Great Gatsby, where Daisy and Tom go off to Europe, while Gatsby gets the bullet for Daisy's hit & run).
He did make up his mind. Remember what he said before the hot babe came to them
It could work, but only if the sister's on board with it. For instance, if she and Dome hadn't dated very long and never had sex. I got the impression they were pretty bland with each other. If one waited a decent interval, then you can date a sibling's ex. There's a fun romantic comedy with Dianne Keaton and Sarah Jessica Parker where SJP switches from one brother to another. And SJW's sister, played by Clair Danes, marries the other brother. Everyone's cool with it, lol.
What makes the director think that fans of love stories want to see 35 minutes of basketball action scenes? This entire episode was basketball, excepting about 10 minutes of Aii and Saen, and then maybe 2 minutes of Dome and Vee. I was very annoyed and frustrated by the whole episode. I really could not give a shit about watching guys bounce a ball and shoot hoops. And I really don't care about the evil coach. His cartoonish character is the weakest thing in the show.
