Can someone who their brain didn't decide to go on a rollercoaster hiking trip on sandals while watching this…
They served no purpose except to spout pretentious dialogue about Life & Love while smoking lots of cigarettes and laying around in bed. You know, so that the director/writer could fancy themselves French auteur filmmakers. You could fast-forward through all their scenes without it making any difference whatsoever to the plot. It made no sense to waste time on them when there was already insufficient time given to the main plot concerning the 2 couples.
Funny, but I thought this was the best of the 3 installments. Because it was so surprising when we got Kiyoi's…
But the thing is, it wasn't quite so "simple." I thought that the writers had worked pretty hard in setting things up such that when we discover Kiyoi's true nature, one can go back to the prior eps and it all fit perfectly. Meaning, the writers were planting plot points very carefully all along so that it would still make sense when the character turned out to be different than we'd heretofore assumed him to be. It's hard to write a plot that way.
But listen, I agree with you that the next 2 seasons did a stellar job of exploring how the boys interacted once they entered this, shall we say, unusual relationship. It was also great writing to explore that so I can see why many prefer these seasons. I mean, this is one of the most unusual relationships I've ever seen in a BL. We have a weird, obsessive Aspies boy and a popular, beautiful aspiring actor. Who ever would've thought such a romance could work? But it does. Which is why I love this whole story so much. You can tell it was written by a novelist who enjoys unusual romances.
The novelist, by the way, also writes non bl's and has won prestigious awards for her novel, "Wandering," which is also about a highly unusual romance. There's a movie based on it that's terrific and which I highly recommend.
In my eyes, this is just the foundation to support the stellar second season and movie.Alone, this is not incredible.…
Funny, but I thought this was the best of the 3 installments. Because it was so surprising when we got Kiyoi's point of view in ep 5. Very few shows or movies genuinely surprise me, but I was blown away by how different the real Kiyoi was inside the whole time. I thought he was a total little shit for 4 eps, and then it turned out that he was sooo vulnerable inside. Then, when I went back and re-watched, it turned out there were signs of it all along, so it was fun to re-watch and catch that. I thought the writer/director did a stellar job of creating the character in a way where there were always signs of Kiyoi being nicer than he let on, but that we don't really get it until the big reveal with his point of view in ep 5.
Then next 2 seasons were good, but no surprises. It was just the 2 boys being in love and showing us how they behaved together while being in love. In other words, the plot arcs were not as sharply defined as the plot arc was in season one with that big surprise changing everything. At any rate, I can see why some would prefer seasons 2 and 3. I just wanted to say why others, like me, preferred season 1. :)
You repeatedly said that there were "too many kissing scenes" when, in fact, there were only 2 kissing scenes in a nearly 2 hour movie. That is utterly standard for a romance movie. In fact, you will see far more kissing scenes in a hetero romance movie. So I think you are simply surprised to see 2 kissing scenes in a BL because all the BL drama series only give 1 kiss per a season . I call it the "One Kiss Quota." There is always exactly one kiss to please fans (usually in the final episode), but never more than. I suspect that this is because it's uncomfortable for the hetero actors to kiss a same sex acting partner. It sounds like you are uncomfortable with such same sex kisses too.
Kisskh has it. The subtitles are bad, but it's the only version out so far. There will be better subtitles when the official version comes out on DVD in a couple of months.
This scene was missing from the episodes on Viki. WHY?!!https://twitter.com/ssssseon/status/1693249878791696506?t=hhj0VQm8mzXrZDWdVQtm1w&s=19This…
Yea, the other person is right cuz I also noticed the different clothes. As per your other point, I don't think there is a main couple but that all 3 couples are given equal time. At least so far, anyway. But Mr. Underwear and the TA are my fave couple so far.
It’s not the coffee shop manager, it’s his friends - they’re the cameo couple. They r actually the main…
Correction duly made, thanks! But I would have never known that unless you said it cuz even when I went back to look, the camera barely shows them. You don't even see the tall one's face. But even if it's just a cameo, it's still a lot of gay guys in one show! lol
Three main couples, the cameo couple and rooftop guy's ex boyfriend make 9 gay guys in one show. Kinn/Porsche is the only BL to beat that. Hell, in Kinn/Porsche the only hetero couple were the fish, Elizabeth and Sebastian.
The director really said "I wonder what's gonna emphasise that he's a tough guy...I know! A lollipop!!"Still,…
I've actually seen this before. In fact, there's an old 1970's cop show called Kojak where the super macho cop always had a lollipop in his mouth. It's supposed to show that he's so cool he can afford to suck on a little kid's candy and yet STILL look tough.

This is the same as the AI subbed version. I compared them and all the same things make no sense in both. For example, that convo in the bathtub where Kiyoi tells Hira not to behave on instinct and not lift him up or shove him down. That was the same wording in both versions and made no sense in either. I wonder if perhaps the person Josh has his name on these subs simply cuz he is the one who uploaded the AI version for us.
