Wait, I thought that assistant was cute. I guess it's a matter of taste. I like the goofy vibe of this show. Especially the way the kid walked with a hardon and sang a national anthem to distract himself from it in lieu of a cold shower. I like it better than Happy Ending Romance, which really disappointed me. But this show might be one of the few things on which we disagree Tim, cuz you and I are usually in synch.

This show was so brilliant that I must assume it did well in its native Japan. But this came out 4 years ago and I haven't found a season 2. Unless, perhaps, season 2 has a different title?? Anyone know?

I agree that OFC generated a lot of sexual heat. It did that because those actors were so good. I mean, you could feel sexual tension in the way Togawa looked at Nozue with so much yearning and longing. And man-oh-man, sticking his thumb in Nozue's mouth was hot as hell! lol. Nevertheless, I thought Nozue had a big bridge to cross in accepting himself in a male-on-male relationship and that a tender, deep kiss would've portrayed this acceptance. Again, I still LOVE this show and, as I'd said, it's in my Top 3.

Since you and I have had all the same taste in BL's so far, I think you will definitely love Follow My Sunshine. It's the only Vietnamese BL I know of that had a big budget and, hence, nice production values and gorgeous cinematography. And the chemistry of the couple is terrific! I particularly loved how the seme had a rival played by a very sexy guy. You can find this show on Youtube. Check it out!

I didn't adore Kinn/Porsche, but the performances were definitely professional. Actually, my fave Thai BL is Tharn/Type. And I only have one Vietnamese BL that I love -- "Follow My Sunshine." Meanwhile, I like too many Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese BL's to even list them all.

Thai BL's have begun to feel too manufactured off an assembly line, and the acting is often amateur. But Kinn/Porsche was refreshingly good with professional performances. Also, does CM mean "Cornered Mouse"? What does MLMU mean?

Yep, TMS also had heartfelt kissing scenes. That director also did Blueming which likewise had heartfelt, tender kissing scenes. I know her 1st BL, Where Your Eyes Linger, was only a closed mouth peck, but that was Korea's first BL series, so I forgive the director for being hesitant (btw, both of those actors did full on kissing scenes in later BL's, so it wasn't like they had a problem with kissing).. Korea seems to have come a long way in just 3 years. It's the J-BL's that are consistently weak with showing true passion between gay couples. I don't mean the Japanese full feature films, like Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese, No Touching at All, etc, (cuz those are all PG or R rated). I just mean the J-BL series cuz they are pure G-rated shows.

Well, you have good taste cuz I also loved Semantic Error and Eternal Yesterday, lol. As for Semantic Error, wow, that one and Blueming both proved that K-BL's can bring it with passionate, deep kissing scenes!

I actually rank OFC among my Top 3 all time favorite BL's (the other 2 are Blueming and My Beautiful Man). Nevertheless, I was disappointed that they let a noise in the alley interrupt what could've been a real, tender kiss after the two of them had confessed love. The other kiss in the earlier ep was Togawa forcing a kiss on Nozue, who was actually unresponsive and motionless because he was so shocked. I think it would've really cinched things to show a final, deep kiss to portray that Nozue was finally over his fears. Otherwise, that show is wonderful. Really, just a gem.

As always with South Korean writers and directors they do good storytelling, flow of narrative and cinematography,…
I did not care for this show, but I don't think the lame kisses can be attributed to K-BL's in general. After all, Blueming and Semantic Error, and many more had sensuous kisses. I think the J-BL's are more guilty of cashing in on BL's while simultaneously exhibiting a homophobic fear of gay kissing scenes. Consider the following which either had closed mouth pecks or no kisses at all.

Kabe Koji
His
Senpai This Can't Be Love
Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice But to Kiss
Minato's Laundromat
Old Fashioned Cupcake
Takara Kun and Amagi
Cherry Magic

THROUPLE! Hey, why not? This show got back some of its mojo in the last two eps. I cried six or seven times.Korean…
What sex scene? It was 2 guys separated by a thick comforter staring at each other while tinkly music played. I lost my engagement with this show around ep 4 when I could no longer stand the self-righteous writer. I found him plain looking, lacking charisma and just all around dull. I'd have much preferred to see the two tall guys get jiggy.

I don't know why they would complain about the kiss when it was only ep 4 and the first kiss for the couple. Given that we already got a brief kiss in ep 4, I am sure we'll get a better one between the 2 leads by the end of the 8 eps. Besides, we see far worse kisses in J-BL's where it's always a closed mouth quick peck or no kiss at all. For instance, all the following:

Kabe Koji
His
Senpai This Can't Be Love
Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice But to Kiss
Minato's Laundromat
Old Fashioned Cupcake
Takara Kun and Amagi
Cherry Magic

5 THINGS TO LOVE ABOUT THIS SHOW

1) Getting the boys shirtless was not hokey but actually made sense cuz one guy is an artist for erotic comics and needed the other to model for him.

2) It was hilarious that the soundtrack was a solemn Gregorian Chanting when the writer has an epiphany that he might like boys too.

3) It acknowledges the fact that men kiss each other, while most Japanese BL's have no kissing, or only a closed mouth quick peck.

4) Instead of falling into each other's arms and staring at each other interminably like they do in a Thai Slip-And-Catch (SAC), this has one guy on his hands and knees when the other falls onto his backside, thus in the position to butt f*ck him! lol. Now that actually got a laugh from me instead of a groan, which SACs usually inspire in me.

5) The way the writer walked after he got an erection while riding the subway. And the fact that he was singing an anthem to distract himself from the erection was even better. Divinely funny!

Both of these boys can act. Phuwin has been in many series already and often been the stand-out. They are definitely…
I didn't know about the actor's background. But if they are experienced actors then, yes, I agree with you and I blame the director too. Because it really feels unnatural to stand and stare at someone for that long. And the body language is far too stiff.
On Never Let Me Go Dec 14, 2022
I realize that people stare at someone to whom they are attracted, but all the silent staring scenes of these two boys feels overly contrived and forced. It would help if they exhibited some body language while staring, instead of standing stiffly erect, because that looks so unnatural. A pro actor would know how to stand in such a way as to make it feel natural, and they'd only peek at their crush, not full on stare at him for an interminable amount of time. These two, however, strike me as amateur actors, although they are both cute as hell. But why can't Thai BL's get cute boys who can ALSO act? Kinn/Porsche managed to get hot guys who knew how to act. Otherwise, I hardly ever see it in Thai BL's.

Title New Trial
The movie opens with a young kid being imprisoned for 10 years for a murder he did not commit. He was targeted by the cops, basically, because he was poor and had tattoos which cops said made him look like a "hooligan." The rest of the movie covers the procedures by which a lawyer proved the kid's innocence. The movie is based on a true story, which reminded me of the American case where 3 boys in Alabama were unjustly imprisoned cuz the prosecutor said they listened to "Satanic" punk rock and wore black. In rural, bible thumping Alabama it's a freaking crime to listen to punk rock. The Alabama 3 were eventually freed, but could not sue for money as part of their release deal. These cases just enrage me. But New Trial is, nevertheless an excellent movie.

I'm baffled by all the negative comments and ones saying it was merely "ok," because I liked it so much that I watched it twice. The acting is good, and the representation of gay life is spot on. It also gives a clear view of a attitudes in contemporary Japan where, yes, there are openly gay people and gay clubs, but there are still homophobic assholes on the street who will make rude comments. I thought there was a nice chemistry between the two leads and the sex scenes had heat, without feeling pornographic.

It's just an all around good movie. Those who don't think so seem to have had a problem with the open ending, and felt frustrated that it was not a clear cut happy ending. I was fine with it because the primary plot was about how these two are from different worlds -- and not just in terms of sexuality, but different life experiences, ages, and temperaments. So it was realistic to suggest that they were not going to ride off into the sunset with a happily-ever-after.
On Eternal Yesterday Dec 9, 2022
Well, this puts to rest the claim that Japanese BL's never have kissing. This had not one, but three kissing scenes. I liked how the first kiss was chaste, but then they grew more passionate over time, just as they would in real life.
