It's a drama of course it's meant as science fiction, I don't get why some people find it so problematic, so what…
I suppose so, and listen, if that brain transplant were my only gripe I wouldn't bother complaining. But I felt like the whole plot became too unraveled and freewheeling in the second half. Frankly, I liked the first half. But then tone really started to go over-the-top. Even for a K-drama, which are always exploding with emotions, lol. But hey, if others liked it then it's a matter of taste, right?

It is not presented as sci-fi. Not in the least. It is presented as a crime drama with futuristic genetic research that determines human behavior. Such genetic science is not at all farfetched because we already know that genes not only pass on our physical looks, but our behavior and IQ as well. So that part of the show was realistic and fine. The absurdity was with the brain transplant.

The brain transplant was the writer's only way of moving the plot forward in such a way that it would explain who the bad guy is and why. I happen to think it was also an idiotic plot device. Indeed, the plot overall was far too convoluted. And the tone was over-the-top and, at times, even hysterical. Based on reviews here, I had expected better but was seriously disappointed.

I agree. I don't see how anyone with half an education could enjoy watching this show. Everything about the pseudoscience…
Thank you! I was wondering if I had even seen the same show as all these other people. Now, I don't mind seeing something where genes can predict a psychopath, because we know that genes can determine behaviors, but there is virtually no such thing as a brain transplant. Moreover, the show had so many switcheroos on who the culprit was that neither reveals made any damned sense. But what really killed me was the hysterical tone of the whole show. I mean, a detective screaming and yelling at a serial killer while on a live show is absurd. It would never happen.

A show that asks you to believe a brain transplant is possible. No, it's not presented as a joke, nor even as science fiction, but as a serious, scientific possibility. It's not only idiotic , but outrageously so. The entire show is hysterical, illogical and, in a word, absurd. The high rating is a testament to people falling for risible pseudo science so, hey, power to the screenwriters for successfully fooling naive viewers. But if you are even remotely educated, you will be laughing at this show. That is, when you are not groaning and rolling your eyes.

Kim Dong Wook is freakishly handsome. Kim Sung Gyu is unspeakably sexy. I'm hoping for some kind of an unexpected…
Lol, I love your comments Tim! I guess I need to watch this. Especially cuz Kim Sung Gyu is my new obsession. I've now seen him in three things: The Gangster the Cop and the Devil (the lead as a serial killer), One Ordinary Day (a support role as a prisoner), Kingdom (the lead as a soldier killing zombies during Joseon era). This will be my 4th show with him. The only other Asian actors I have trailed this assiduously have been Go Ayamo and Suda Masaki. But I've taken it a step further with Sung Gyu and even know his stats (36 years old and 5'8").
On One Ordinary Day Dec 4, 2022
The Moral of the Story: the police are lazy and stupid, prosecutors are craven and ambitious, and unless you're rich, you are disposable as a defendant. Let's hope this show is not realistic, but I fear that it is.
On One Ordinary Day Dec 4, 2022
I am baffled by all the attention given to the lawyer's foot fungus. It's gross and irrelevant to the plot. Perhaps it adds an element of verisimilitude but, hey, so does showing a character pooping, but we never see that.

If K is a hallucination then why is he able to fight people and give people rides on his motorcycle? This show makes no sense.

In the preview they are each saying "it's my first time" and, presumably, meaning their first time having sex. But didn't they already have sex the night of the ear nibbling? The spiritualist girl at school even asked them "did you guys do anything last night?" at which point the two boys acted all nervous, lol.

LOL, some of the subtitles incorrectly translated Kiyoi's word "kimo" to be "disgusting," when what it really…
I know, it's so important to get subtitles right. Most of the versions of this show that are on youtube came from the website Gagaloolala and their subtitles are always bad. The website Viki, however, specializes in Asian shows and therefore has much better translations, and they got it right with "creepy." I saw this show twice -- once on Gagaloolala and once on Viki. It made such a difference with a proper translation! You see, at first I was wondering how the hell Kiyoi expected Hira to know he liked him when he kept calling him "disgusting." But then I watched it again on Viki and saw that the word was actually "creepy" I thought, oh, ok, Kiyoi is not being a jerk, because Hira truly is a bit creepy! LOL.

But those things were happening when he was nice. So why change? What made it suddenly effect him while not before? I just don't buy it.

That's a good explanation. But I still think the change was too quick and too complete. I mean, when the character himself says he doesn't know why he's being like this, the audience is like, "Yea, me either."
The only change we saw to explain it is that he took his glasses off, lol

Byeomseok's introduction is him literally helping to drug Sieun because he was too timid and cowardly to stand…
That's a decent explanation. But it happened fast. Also, if he's got it in him to be a badass, why was he such a wimp at the old school? His change in character is way too quick and complete.

Um, the character himself said, "I don't know why I am like this." He was not being an asshole before when his dad all the bullies picked on him. What changed? Nothing.

I know, I groaned when they introduced her as a love interest. The show really doesn't need an obnoxious girl…
I'm shocked that the show gave us only her as an explanation for Beom Suek's brain transplant. It was, as you said, a tepid explanation. Frankly, I think it fails completely. Why should he be jealous anyway? He was not dating her or either of the guys. In short, the character turned evil for no reason whatsoever. And thus ruined what had been a good show up until then.

A Show that Went from a 10 to a 5 in Three Seconds Flat

I'm disappointed the show flipped a character with virtually no explanation. The show had such a promising start and then the whole thing blew up at ep 6 when Beom Seuk's evil twin stepped in. What other explanation is there for his change? A brain transplant? All the writers gave us was Beom Seuk saying, "I don't know why I became like this either." Huh? This is what the writers give us to explain why a nice kid who was giving his friends money and risking his life to save one from gangsters would become evil in 3 seconds flat? This is bad writing.

I find her character to be annoying. It's a fair assessment. She was all pouty and acting cool at the beginning, and she also switched off pretty quickly from one guy to the next and to the next.

Anything can be a BL if you squeeze hard enough
I had expected a bromance with two guys based on these comments, but it turns out to be a trio of friends with glasses guy added in. Nevertheless, the MMA guy and the smart guy have a particularly nice chemistry. One's light hearted and fun, and the other is all angsty and serious.
