I was thinking about this series and it struck me that Kaku Kento's mannerisms kinda reminded me of Harpo Marx's in Duck Soup (1933). The blonde perm certainly helped.
Just wanted to put this out there- Kaho is really great. Her acting and range of filmography is truly impressive and she has a very distinctive screen presence. She's quite underrated, frankly.
Is it just me or the ending didn't feel complete but I loved the movie
If you're talking about how we don't see Sumida's redemption arc being resolved, I think there's meant to be a sense of uncertainty in the ending- not just only for the characters but also for Japan's future (the film obviously has heavy social implications.) Thats also why the final image is of the 3/11 ruins- to suggest that Japan may be struck down by disaster again but, like Sumida and Keiko, the only way for it to survive is to move forward, to 'have a dream.'
