I don't think his father didn't love him. We can see at the beginning of his memories that he is clearly affectionate towards DFQC. It also has to do with his revenge against NN's bullies. He says that to her to make her feel guilty, I guess so she begins to trust zisheng more. I'm not so sure but I think the fifth princess gets punished because of some shady dealings outside the palace, which LBY exposes. I'm not certain how accurate all this is
