I just checked here again, and the unnecessary argument is so 🤣 . At the end of the day, we all can’t like the same thing. I wrote a mini poem for the leads here again:

A house of hearts, where fates collide,
Two souls so different, yet side by side.
Seokryu storms with her fiery heart,
Her pain a canvas, a work of art.

The male lead stands, a quiet tide,
Calm and steady, though torn inside.
Their clash, a dance of the unspoken,
Fragile bonds, mended and broken.

A mirror held, their flaws on view,
Growth entwined with something new.
Love’s not easy; it stings and soars,
A push, a pull two hearts, one door.

You just never know what mood the FL will have when she wakes up every day. I'm at episode 9 and I just realized…
Seokryu is a complex character. Based on this drama, she’s faced with making choices shaped by her past, which affects her present behavior. Her unpredictability comes from navigating her trauma and unique worldview, making her deeply human. I get why she can be frustrating, though she’s relatable.

She went to the USA on a scholarship and stayed there after graduating. She worked for about three and a half…
The time she spent there wasn’t enough for someone who had taken a year off and barely worked for a long time. Even though she has health insurance, it can’t cover all her bills, especially since they were also planning her wedding.

so after working is the US for so long, she has no savings?!! WTF
She went to the USA on a scholarship and stayed there after graduating. She worked for about three and a half years, even taking a year off due to illness. Since she’s not a citizen, she had to cover her medical bills herself, which can be incredibly expensive.

Title Love Next Door Spoiler
It feels the ML chases the FL constantly OMG the amount of times she is indifferent to his emotions is staggering…
Love Next Door showcased different relationship dynamics, especially through the ML and FL. Just because the FL didn’t center her life around the ML doesn’t mean she didn’t love him—her feelings were clear when she returned. However, coming out of a serious relationship, she needed time to heal and rebuild herself before fully committing.

It’s easy to see why some felt frustrated, as the ML’s constant pursuit made it seem like he was carrying the relationship. But her struggles with self-esteem and fear of being hurt shaped her actions, not selfishness. Her journey wasn’t about indifference; it was about learning how to accept love while overcoming her own insecurities.

As for Seokryu’s love for Seunghyo, it was steady and patient—a quiet devotion that stood in contrast to the ML and FL’s dynamic. It highlighted how love, in all its forms, can be deeply meaningful, whether loud or subtle.

This drama truly impressed me with its exploration of family, friendship, team bonds, and loyalty. The way it wove these themes into the story made it such a heartfelt and memorable experience.

Neo Hou delivered an incredible performance, bringing so much depth and emotion to his character. Chen Duling, as the female lead, was phenomenal. She portrayed her character with grace and precision, capturing every emotion beautifully. Wenxiao was also a standout her character’s calm demeanor and resilience in the face of challenges made her a pillar of strength for the team. She brought a sense of balance and wisdom, which greatly contributed to the group’s bond.

The cinematography and costumes were stunning, creating an atmosphere that perfectly matched the tone of the drama. And the OST was a perfect fit, enhancing the emotional moments beautifully.

to me, it felt super forced, it felt like she had to love him cuz the script demanded it. the chemistry wasn't…
The romance in this drama wasn’t forced. The female lead had a lot on her plate, especially with her illness, and she didn’t immediately share that with the male lead. Her emotional growth wasn’t about fitting into a script but reflecting a more mature, realistic approach to relationships. She wasn’t defined by her connection to the male lead she was dealing with personal challenges and still showed care for him through actions like cooking for him and helping when he was sick and assisting him during work time.

As for the chemistry, it wasn’t about constant sparks but moments of quiet understanding, like in the pool scene. Even when the male lead confessed, the story didn’t rely on instant tension, but rather the emotional depth of both characters. The arrival of the second male lead added complexity, but it didn’t freeze the relationship it allowed the characters to grow individually and together. The show didn’t need constant dramatic tension to make their bond believable it was the subtle shift in their relationship that mattered.

So I just finished this it was overall pretty good I wouldn't call this a romcom though. It is more heavy & sadder…
It was marketed as a romcom, but it’s more of a slice of life, melodrama, and family drama. The 16 episodes were necessary since each character had their own story to tell, though I sometimes felt it could’ve used more. I get that we all have different opinions, but the realism hits because, as adults, it’s not always easy to communicate especially with everything the main leads were going through.
