Haishi trying to kill the Emperor in ep.36 is giving me ep.5 vibes when he taunts Haishi by saying, "You want to kill me and I want you to kill me," lol

That seems way more sensible for a plot. I felt like they were way too ambitious especially if they had no clear direction on how the story would progress from such a short novel. Also, the pacing is inconsistent and I think that's what's throwing me off tbh. But this is Tencent and they will milk the hell out of something until the last drop of milk is left. Right now, this drama is giving me Wattpad vibes and that's never a good thing.

Exactly. He was among some of the most heroic and manliest of Huku men and that's how his ass walks in? Make it make sense someone. They even paved the way for him and he just strolled in like really? These villains are so laughable. And the director and editing team need to learn how to cut the eps properly. It's so awkward.

Ikr. At this point, I only want to see Haishi rule and look fab in her Consort clothes. Everything else just needs to happen at this point so that I see it. This drama has passed the point of no return for me.

Exactly! Her anger or revenge aimed at the Emperor, I can accept because all of her angst and pain has come into fruition because of his inability to heal from his past. If it's because of Haishi's arrival then I'm taking a que from Su Ming and rebelling, but with a little more flare.

Even the way he walked into the hall was soo comedic. I was like, sir are you walking into your revenge or a banquet? If it was meant to be menacing and heroic, totally missed the mark. I don't know if that's an actor or director interpretation but it's a tragedy.

Totally and that is where Shifu fails as a lover. He has been seeing their whole relationship from one perspective - his instead of also considering Haishi's. Youdu said it best, Shifu knows Haishi then why not use his knowledge of her as a deciding factor?

It felt like she was just used as a tool to humanise the Emperor but while they succeeded in that aspect albeit not that much, they forgot that she is still an actual person who should be a stand-alone character. Give us some character growth or evolve her with something major.

Right as long has she doesn't start something unnecessary against Haishi, I'm gonna leave her alone. Hopefully, she recovers from her slump. I feel like the writers don't know what do with her at this point. She just seems sad and pitiful all the time that it's hard to fully gage her as an important part of the narrative.

Girl, yes that rebellion was so anti-climatic I honestly thought they were putting on a fake play for the Emperor. Su Ming should've just stayed and reared horses for the Huku people which is probably the most valuable thing he could've done for others lol I don't know how this man was meant to be a meritious General.

And yes, he's a selfless lover which I admire. Being aware of the other person's perspective is such a valuable trait to have in a love interest.

Let's all pretend that Youdu is on his Heavenly trial and will soon return to being Bai Zhen who loves to drink wine with Zhe Yan.

That I know! It just seems so contrived as a character arch. His characterisation is also meant to be viewed as an audience surrogate to exemplify his "need" and "want" but I think they've overdone it in the drama. Should've kept some of his essence from the novel. But the writers knew they couldn't dim the ML's halo.
