Completely agree. I always read comments saying they prefer so and so because Dilraba doesn't look pure Chinese. Which is bullshit bcos those are some rich undertones of racism. Actors from minority backgrounds have to work twice as hard just to get a fraction of the success their peers enjoy. This is one of the reasons why i stan so hard for Dilraba.

Go Go Squad and Ashes of Love were big hits true but just like Eternal love, lacked a viable script and relied heavily on its leads to carry the series.

Dilraba did model prior but she wasn't modeling for big brands like she is now. Regardless whether or not her dramas are hits, brands will continue to swamp to her because she has a unique look and has built a large fanbase in such a short time. This equals dollar signs. Yang zi has always talked about her acting from a young age but only gathering her fanbase now and is constantly being criticized for taking on roles that refer to her "as the beautiful fairy" which have netizens ridiculing her looks. I find that shit cruel and i am happy she's finding success now. But Dilraba really is the one to watch. It'll be interesting to see when covid finally dies down, just how management will run any international appearances and contracts etc

Ranking, endorsements, roles, appearances all add to an actors visibility and longevity

Not necessarily speaking of ranking but more in line of long term endorsements with luxury businesses like YSL, Clarins, Loreal Paris, Mikimoto etc who all support Dilraba and internationally and locally renowned. Last year, Prada was Zheng Shuang's first luxury brand deal. Which is weird considering she has been in the game much longer - which only last 9 days! Brands need to tap into Yang zi a bit more as she certainly has pull. Dilraba probably appeals more to these brands long term marketing strategy

If its true, terminating her contract will be a big mistake on their part. Aside from Zhao Liying and Yang Mi, no one is really doing it like Dilraba right now. It makes sense to keep both contracts going.

Why has it taken this long for companies to realise that actresses can coexist in an industry and not always be in competition with each other?

Thats the best part, we aren't just here to worship our faves, we are actively responding to the content, characters, storyline, narrative etc

It makes sense to do so considering they are the ship the palette is linked to. But from a marketing perspective it makes sense they would use Dilraba to help boost it as she has the bigger following, fanbase and has the track record of bringing in buyers ie her previous brand collabs. While LY and ZL have done promo for it, its not receiving the same analytics as individuals as they seem to receive as a ship. Something we have seen happen a lot throughout TLB's run.

This isn't the first time Tencent has been accused of this. For now, we can only speculate this is just disgruntled fans. It certainly doesnt really benefit the actors in the long run if this is how Tencent chooses to run things

A lot of netizens are bombarding Tencent with accusations that the marketing for TLB has strategically used the popularity and pulling power Leo and Dilraba to help push the second leads so that they can lead a future drama thus making Tencent more profit and a base audience to begin with. Recently, they teamed with a make up company to release an eye shadow palette in celebration of LeHao's wedding but have been using Reba to push much of the promo on social media. I believe they refer to this in film circles as "black marketing" or something. How much of that is truth, we can only speculate.

But im starting to see that a lot of companies follow a similar pattern. This might be a result of an industry practice that tends to promote individuals rather than a collective promotional framework.

The initial goal was to surpass 10k comments but looking at it now (17461) we have truly ruined MDL for life. I remember when the server kept crashing and how people rushing to have their comments posted before it crashed again.

I've been pondering a few questions since the series came to an end and I wonder what everyone else thoughts are. I have my answers, I was just curious. Feel free to answer in the context of the manhua or the drama.

Could Changge's mother have chosen another path other than exposing her husband's plot and killing herself?

Do you think she fully considered Changge's personality and mental health after she found out about the slaughter of her entire family?

Would Leyan have done the same as Changge if she had been in her shoes?

Considering that forgiveness is such a personal burden, do you think it was best for Changge to let go of her past or at least parts of it, for her to heal and move on?
