Royal Feast . Story of Ming Lan , Sword and Brocade , Story of Yan xi Palace , Live your Life , Forever and ever…
I binged watched Ming Lan like 2 weeks ago to prepare for more episodes of LLTG - I loved it.. Thanks for the recommendations- I have actually watched almost all these shows. Gonna try the Royal Feast or Live your Life
What is everyone currently watching while waiting for episodes of LLTG?
I just finished ADOS earlier today, and I loved it. Before this I had tried IS but kept getting stuck at episode 8. I tried again a couple of minutes ago, and for some reason, it's just not clicking for me which is a shame cause I love YZ as an actress.
Any recommendations on a show to watch pending next week? (I'm already watched AoS btw incase someone recommends it lol)
I'm jealous you are still making your way through TLB and haven't even started this one yet!
You'll love it trust me! If you end up as obsessed with Ashile Sun as I became (hint: my MDL Pro pic), LLTG will be perfect for you. Wu Lei transcends the screen and bring hard-hitting emotions
I'm jealous you are still making your way through TLB and haven't even started this one yet!
I think that's where the difference is between the shows: the editing! The sound editing and music in TLB made you love Ashile Sun from the start. The scene where we first see him with that caw of the eagle and then that awe inspiring and bone shaking music. That editing helped build the image of Sun that when the show was over I was so thirty for Sun that I was rushing to find the next Wu Lei drama - thus how I ended up here.
I'm jealous you are still making your way through TLB and haven't even started this one yet!
I watched TLB right before this and maaaaaaan Ashile Sun was my everything. There was just something about him that was awe inspiring. LBY is pretty mesmerizing too but there's something about Sun stepping into a scene that gives chills
Somethings are cut out for example that conversation they had about power in his carriage but yeah especially for the scenes between the leads they did keep that use of language
Coming here a day later to marinate and ruminate on all the happenings.
Episode 36 definitely overshadowed episode 35 this Thursday, but there was a particular part in episode 35 that was just so poignant and epitomized the intent of the story/novel: When the Empress is explaining to CSS why the Emperor rewarded LBY for something CSS achieved, stating that they are one body, then CSS comes to a realization that if LBY is like the scorching sun, then she is the stars. A GALAXY with none inferior or superior, co-existing and relying on each other. Just beautiful!!
Episode 36 revealed much more about the distinct personality and sub-plots in the palace.
It was a stark reminder that no matter how well the Emperor treats the Empress, she was still a marriage of convenience. That moment when LBY was playing, she excitedly turned to him to express her joy at how well he was playing, and she saw him joyfully chatting with consort Yue about it. That moment was like a light bulb in my head. Humans want to share all the good/ fascinating things with the people they love- the Emperor repeats this behavior during the banquet urging consort Yue to try the dishes from the west.
The Crown Prince really does appear to me dumb, incompetent, and unworthy of the role. The empire is only a few years old, and the Emperor has always advocated for frugality, but then you give such a luxurious gift. That gift was so wrong on so many levels: 1. WE GET IT, it's your mom's birthday, and you wanted to get her something special, so you splurged a little (understandable). But then the Crown Princess bragging about how much they spent on it was so improper (WHICH SHOWS SHE REALLY ISNT AS SIMPLE AS SHE TOUTS TO BE| THERE IS SOMETHING CUNNING ABOUT HER). 2. THE MEANING OF THE GIFT: The Emperor is married to two women and intentionally raised Consort Yue's Yongle palace to be of equal standing with the Empress - How then can you give a pair of jades talking about good things come in two when it is a relationship of THREE PEOPLE.
The dynamic between the lead couple was absolutely steamy this episode. It is so interesting and heartwarming to see how far they've come and how much their feelings have blossomed, especially CSS. She went from not wanting to be in the same room as him for too long to requesting he hold her tight to give her comfort in his embrace. These little details make this such an epic love story: how Zisheng hadn't played zither in years, even denying the request of the Emperor but practiced till he cut his finger when CSS asked him. CSS instinctively wiped the dripping wine from LBY's lips. The way CSS looks at LBY when he praises her wine: she looks at him like, "how am I this lucky to have you?" I don't see how people can watch all this and not see that of the three men that courted CSS; LBY is genuinely her best match.
Overall these were a pair of really good episodes and I am excited to see the words from the book come to life more in the show.
SIDE NOTE: I loved seeing the family sad and missing NN and her antics. Even the mom missed her but rather than expressing it, she bitterly talked about how they wouldn't need to celebrate her birthday since CSS had become enamored with the glamour of the palace and would not come back. Why this woman can't express that she misses her daughter or say one good thing about her really dumbfounds me.
Yup! very lyrical... It's not something a machine translation can pick well. There are so many comparisons and literary phrases that just don't translate well (without human aid) right from the beginning. But if one is just interested in finding out the story and how it moves, you can def read through it
Qiqi and Song's relationship is an ongoing one. Her Dad is a General and she went with him to war. (That's why…
Lol everyone seems to keep missing the point. The jump from drunken kiss to being engaged is what was brash. I've watched the earlier episodes and like I said in my original comment the pacing was nice, you could tell they had a childhood crush going on especially from Song's side
i didn’t meet a novel reader who hated him so far, maybe they didn’t finish the novel? i’m not sure🤭…
YSS is quite sly. If you think there is nothing wrong with he way he has been treating and speaking to CSS so far in the show then that's scary. He is a condescending jerk who is too much of a coward to own up to what he feels for CSS and instead plays silly games and demeans her.
Even later in the book when he finally mans up he is still irredeemable.
Episode 34 was so sweet- filled with sugar and "just deserts" if you know what I mean.
That kiss was perfect for their current emotional situation - LBY is in deep, but CSS is still slowly falling. I really liked the softness of the kiss- it was meant to keep her from talking about her previous engagement, but the kiss wasn't rushed or brash - well executed.
The tag team between the empress and Consort Yue was absolutely hilarious. This whole thing proves one thing is clear - Zishenf really is like the apple of the Emperor's eyes. Absolutely ecstatic to watch Lady Ruyang get some comeuppance.
Somethings I want to see in next week's episode hopefully: 1. Development of YY and Ban Jie relationship. 2. Return of YY's dad from his studies and start of his ship with Qing Cong 3. More Qiqi and Song 4. A bit more interaction between CSS and LBY'S "mom" 5. An update on the investigation into Marquis. Yue
SIDE NOTE: LBY in that red robe was absolute FIRE!!! Bruh he looked delectable!! I like how towards the end of the episode CSS inches towards him and takes his hand
I don’t think Qiqi and Song came out of nowhere, I think from when they had the kids until now, a lot of things…
I know how it progresses in the book. But in the show its quite sloppy. They left off at a drunken kiss and now Song is marrying into the Wan family. I think it was just cut out to save on run time
